Nipper, Ruth Lillian, 98 of Tampa, FL formerly of Knoxville, TN died February 1, 2004. Her husband, Solomon Nipper preceded her in death in 1970.Mrs. Nipper lived in Tampa for over 50 years and was a light in the world to all that knew her. Her kindness and Christian life will long be cherished as her most precious gift. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tampa.

She is survived by her son Jack Nipper of Henderson, Nevada; her daughter Mary Ruth Ellis of Tampa, Florida; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Knoxville, TN on Saturday, February 14th at 10am. Friends and family will be received after the service in the Fellowship Hall. Branche, Kevin Lee, age 33, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 2, 2004. He was preceded in death by grandparents Robert and Edna Carnes and great-grandparents William and Gladys Clevenger. Kevin was born
on March 17, 1970 to Faye Carnes Branche Nelson and Ralph Donald Branche. He is a graduate of Seymour High School, class of 1988. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a MBA with highest honors from The Citadel University of Charleston, SC. Kevin competed in triathlons and enjoyed golfing, swimming, basketball, and running.

Moreland, Evelyn Jean Belcher Ford, age 66, of Dandridge, passed away peacefully from this life to the next on Monday, February 2, 2004 at her daughter’s home surrounded by those whom she loved and who also loved her. Jean worked as an assistant to Dr. Lawrence Kennedy for many years. In later years she worked for the late Dr. Ray Nile Byrd. Jean worked with Dr. Byrd in founding PDS, Professional Dental Services, which at the time was an innovative, if not somewhat controversial approach to dentistry. All who knew Jean will remember her kindnesses, always expressed without limitation, to any and everyone. She was a very spiritual person and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was married to the late Thomas Moreland of Knoxville. She was the daughter of the late Timothy R. and Bertha Smith Belcher of Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

Jean will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jenny Ford Edwards and son-in-law, Doc Edwards. In addition to her daughter, Jean is survived by four devoted and loving grandchildren, Casey Kridner, Josie Kridner, Emily Edwards and Abbey Edwards, all of Knoxville. She is also survived by her former husband, Ralph L. Ford, as well as her sisters, brothers and their wives and husbands: Liela and Bruce Hall, Virginia and David Graves, Irene Brantley, all of Knoxville, Reba and John Palmer, Lucille and Burl Johnson, Clarence and Dana Belcher, and Clyde and Shelby Belcher. In addition, Jean leaves many cherished nieces and nephews and their families.

Within various Alabama churches of God (affiliated with Anderson, Indiana) served as Sunday school teacher, Worship Leader, Choir Director, Deaconess, Chairperson of Church State Board of Christian Education in Alabama. Present member of Woodlawn Christian Church in Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by parents, William Arthur Ratcliff and Emma Viola Ratcliff; brothers Norman, Rodney, Morris, Ted, and Wayne; sister Wilma Ratcliff Rice.

She was the co-owner of Caton’s Grocery Store on Middlebrook Pike in Knoxville for 41 years with her husband, John B. Caton, who predeceased her.
