VANNOY, CLAUDE, born June 21, 1919 died November 18, 2004. He was married to his late wife Lucille Carter Vannoy for 52 years residing in the Halls community. Born in Claiborne county to Charles and Nelle Vannoy, he was one of eleven children. He was a longtime faithful member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was employed most of his working years with Avondale Creamery. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister who died before the age of one; three adult brothers James H., Fred, Charles T., and a sister Mary Lorene Dossett.

Survivors

He is survived by four sisters June Vannoy, Norma Bird and husband Bill, Nancy Cloud and husband Bill all from Halls; and Betty Quensteat of Kansas. There are loving nieces, great nieces and nephews, great nephews. The family wish to express appreciation to the caregivers of St. Mary’s Hospice for their kind and supportive care.

Service

Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM, with the funeral services following at 8PM at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Dr. Charles Earl presiding and Mike Bundon as soloist. Jerry Doyle Johns

Johns, Jerry Doyle, age 69, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, August 18, 2003 at Maryville Healthcare and Rehab Center. He was a member of Assemblies of God where he served as Sunday School Superintendent; taught Youth and Adult classes; and was a song leader in various areas of the United States. Veteran of the United States Air Force with 23 years of service including one tour of duty in Vietnam. Former employee of National Linen Service and S&S Cafeteria. Preceded in death by parents, Everett Johns and Elizabeth Lowe Sanders; grandparents, Lloyd and Roxie Lowe.

Loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Thelma Virginia Manning Johns; daughters, Jacqueline Shahbas of Sarasota, Florida, Reva Rivera and husband, Tony of San Ramon, California, DeLana Pettersen and husband, Brandt of Springfield, Illinois; Karen Ruthrauff and husband, Brian of Japan; grandchildren, Elliott Shahbas, Nicole Rivera Bond, Samantha Rivera, Scott, Brandon and Matthew Pettersen, Bryana and Kristopher Ruthrauff; sisters, Reba Bailey, Brenda Bolinger, Irene Hoskins, and Swella Sanders, all of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his hairdresser, Sonya at Southgate Salon, Dr. Agee, and the staff at Maryville Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Smith officiating. Interment icon will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be presented by Volunteer State Honor Guard. Goddard, Mary Lee Leonard, age 95, resident of Knox County for 76 years, passed away August 20, 2003 at Fort Sanders Hospital. She was of the Methodist Faith and an active member of the Republican party of South Knox County for several years at Bonny Kate 9th district. Retired from Tennessee School for the Deaf as head cook. Preceded in death by Husband, G.R. (Gib) Goddard; son, Fred H. Goddard; parents, William A. Leonard and Verdie Short Leonard; brother, Arnold Leonard; sisters, Clara Mae Dunn and Goldie Goddard, daughters-in-law, Aileen Goddard and Betty Goddard. “A loving Mother that has gone to be with the Lord.”

Huff, Anna H. Lingenfelter, age 69, of Rockford, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at home. Anna served in the United States Navy during the 1950’s where she was stationed in San Diego, California. She was retired from International House of Pancakes where she was employed for 18 years. Preceded in death by parents, William L. and Emma Irene Lingenfelter and husband, Walter (Bucky) Huff.

Sons, William (Tommy) Lynn of Knoxville, Jimmie and wife, Michelle of Manchester, Tennessee; daughter, Candy Kay Lynn of Knoxville; sisters, Dorothy and husband, Buck Bradley of White Pine; Billie Kay and husband, Bill Pierson of Knoxville; special granddaughter, Samantha Lynn who was also her caregiver; grandsons, Daniel and Jamie Teal of Manchester; Cory Phillips of Knoxville; special friends, Jeanie Poe and Kristy Carter and family who loved her very deeply; half brother, Buddy Dale Lingenfelter of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Anna will be sadly missed and memories cherished by many whose lives she touched.

Owner of the Tupperware Distributorship in the Tri-Cities area and former manager of Ron Warwick Photography Studio. Preceded in death by parents, Ed and Dean Rolen.

She was a loving mother of Hayley Elizabeth Taylor; husband, Nick Taylor; sisters, Sue Gillenwater and husband, Bill; Nicki Lloyd and husband, Gary; brother, Edward E. Rolen, Jr. "Eddie" and wife Sarah; step daughter, Nicole L. Taylor. A very special aunt to Brian, Matthew, Nicole, Brannan, Deana and Brad.

Retired from University of Tennessee Safety and Security. Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Florence Ingram; wife, Ruth Russell Ingram; brother, Bill Ingram.

Joseph E. Moser

Moser, Joseph E., age 76, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004. Veteran of the US Navy. He was owner of Sequoyah Swimming Pools and retired in 1996. Preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Annie Moser; brothers, Bill, Ivan, Lloyd, Doug and Milburn Moser.

Funeral service 12:00 Noon Thursday at Hiawassee Church of God, Madisonville, TN, Rev. Lee Chorn officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery. Charles (Chuck) Simpson

Simpson, Charles W. (Chuck), age 55 of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Knoxville passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 18, 2004 in Atlanta. He was a US Army Veteran. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, C.B. (Red) Simpson.

Survivors include wife, Grace Clement Simpson; sons, Cpl. Ronnie Simpson, US Marine Corps and Rj Simpson US Air Force; daughter, Jennie Simpson, Atlanta, GA; mother, Mary Boone Simpson, South Knoxville; sisters, Betty Lou Simpson and Olivia Mitchell; nephew, Charles Fugate; nieces, Megan Mitchell and Lori Gano: great niece , Vyala Gano and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ernest Edward Adams
9/18/2003

Adams, Ernest Edward, age 86, died at his residence on Thursday, September 18, 2003. Lifelong member of South Knoxville Baptist Church; 32nd Degree Mason; and a member of Kerbela Temple. He served in the 6th Cavalry during the last years of horse-mounted troops then transferred to the Infantry before being discharged. He re-enlisted in 1943 serving in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was initiated on January 24, 1946 into the United Association of Journeyman Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #102 and was an active member serving in several offices including President during his 57 years of membership. He worked for TVA as a pipe fitter on many major construction projects.

wife, Willie Mae Ogle Adams; son, Sam R. and wife, Bobbie Adams; daughter, Susan and husband, William L. Vandergriff; grandchildren, Charles A. (Chuck) and wife, Teresa Adams, Lori and husband, Lee Zadakaus, William Allen and wife, Sharon Vandergriff, Kathryn D. Vandergriff; and great grandson, Collin Anthony Adams.

Service

Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn cemetery at 11:00 AM on Saturday for graveside services, with Rev. Charles Justice officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take the time to visit at least one shut-in during the coming week. Friends and family may gather at the Vandergriff home after the services. Brink, Nelle Turner, age 93, of Sevierville, passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Jesse Brink; sister, Wilma Peters of Florida.
