Parents, John and Carol McCarter; sister, Sarah McCarter; grandmother, Frances R. McCarter; and several aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Service

Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7225 Old Clinton Pike, with Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Woodlawn cemetery for interment icon services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Family Life Center, 7225 Old Clinton Pike, Knoxville, TN 37921 or to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

John Delmar Woods
11/29/2002

Woods, John Delmar, age 72 of South Knoxville, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2002 at Hillcrest West Nursing Home. He was retired and former co-owner of Smalls Drive-In in Athens, Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy where he was awarded the Good Conduct Korean Service, China Service and United Nations Service Medals. Preceded in death by parents, Delmar and Myrtle Woods and sister, Genell Johnson.

Survivors

Wife of 47 years, Effie Woods; sister, Joyce Allen of Georgia; devoted brothers, Robert "Bill" Woods and wife, Betty of Knoxville and Ron Woods and wife, Lorna of Nashville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Service

Family and friends will meet 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tennessee Veterans cemetery for graveside services. Memorials may be made to The Kidney Foundation, 4450 Walker Boulevard, Suite 2, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

James Albert West

West, James Albert "Big Buddy", age 78 of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at his home, with his family by his side. He was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was a Tech Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Stella West; brother, Roy West; and sisters, Alberta Vinsant and Hazel Bennett.

Survivors

Wife of 52 years, Pearl V. West of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kenneth Boles of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Sam and LeAnne West of Rockford, TN; granddaughter and husband, Misty and Joe Kelley of Halls; special great-grandson, Jeremy R. Kelley "Little Buddy"; sisters, Dorothy Caldwell of Seymour, Blanche Quinn of Knoxville, and Mildred Gorman of Maryland. He had several nieces and nephews and friends of family.

Service

Funeral service 8:00 PM Wednesday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. Dewey Cooper officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Tennessee State Veterans cemetery with full military honors by Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Pallbearers will be friends and family of Mr. West. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis R. Scates and Kenneth R. Miller. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Billie Jean Goble

Goble, Billie J., age 60, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, December 2, 2002.

Clarence Harvey Mock, Sr.
12/3/2002

Mock, Clarence Harvey, Sr., born June 6, 1916, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at his home in South Knoxville having suffered with lung cancer. He was an active member and deacon of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church for 49 years. Retired from TVA as head of Procurement Division after 38 years of service, having started with TVA in 1940. Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Wanda Sherfey Mock and brother, Howard Lane Mock.

Survivors

Sons, Stuart Sherfey Mock, C. Harvey Mock, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Stephen Tarpy; grandchildren, Eli Mock, Patricia, Christopher and Jessica Tarpy and Harvey Mock III; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

Funeral service 7:00 PM Thursday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. John Silver officiating. Entombment services Friday 10:00 AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Anna Mae Johnson Smith

Smith, Anna Mae Johnson, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a life long resident of Knox County, except for the last 3 1/2 years. She devoted her life to her family. She loved to cook for family and friends and loved flower gardening inside and out. She graduated from Knoxville High School and was a long time member of Meridian Baptist Church and Bethany Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Bruce Smith.

Daughter, Bobbie Smith Love and son-in-law, Bill Love; grandchildren, Sherry Love Beaman and husband, Jeff, Bill Love and wife, Christy, Mike Love and wife, Lisa, Greg Love and wife, Susan; great grandchildren, Shannon and Katie Beaman, Mandy and Allie Love, Benjamin Love and Abby and Caroline Love.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Woodlawn cemetery with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Those who desire may send donations to a charity of your choice. Marie (Huffaker) Cichaczewski

Cichaczewski, Marie (Huffaker), age 86, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Preceded in death by father and mother, John and Suzie Huffaker; brother, Frank Huffaker; sisters, Willie Holt and Mildred Jones; and grandson, Martin Zolman.

Charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, US Navy veteran of WWII, owner of Winkle's Greenhouse and Nursery. Preceded in death by parents, Fredrick and Beatrice Eggers Winkle; sister, Lucille Davis.

wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Ogle Winkle; sons, Ralph Andrew and wife, Brenda; David and wife, Belinda; daughter, Teresa and husband, Russell Manning; sons: Bob Winkle; Mike and wife, Jody; grandchildren, Shane, Christy, Eric, Ellen, Shannon, Adrienne, Heather, Megan, Kristi, Jessica, Dalton, Karley and Jori; great-grandchildren: Kevin, Hayden, Delaney, Wesley; brother Fredrick S.
