Cunningham, Mildred Farley, of Seymour, formerly of Knoxville and Halls, and reared in Union County, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fountain City. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Cunningham, Sr., and her parents, Dossie Acuff Farley Pierce and Frank Farley of Union County.
Survivors
Her three children, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Timmons; son, Clarence E. Bud Cunningham, Jr. of Jefferson City, Tenn., and daughter, Brenda Cunningham of Seymour. She loved all of her grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Seiferth, James E. Cunningham, Gary Timmons, Vickie Harris, and Julie Bettencourt, and Daniel Cunningham. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Wolfenbarger of Kennesaw, Ga., formerly of Knoxville.

Victor Morgan Davis, Jr.

Davis, Victor Morgan Jr., passed away Saturday, April 24, 2004 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a lifelong member of Church Street United Methodist Church. He was retired after 40 years from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, where he was the manager of Provider Services for the Knoxville Region. He was a WWII POW and Veteran who received The Purple Heart following The Battle of the Bulge. Vic was an avid fisherman, both fresh and saltwater. His love for the sport was freely shared with all. Not only was he willing to teach anyone interested, but always willing to share his special fishing holes. Preceded in death by his father, Victor Morgan Davis, Sr., Alumni Secretary and Personnel Director at The University of Tennessee; mother, Virginia Briggs Davis and sister, Virginia Davis Bonner.

Mr. King was retired from the United States Postal Service, World War II veteran receiving two purple hearts and a lifelong member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church, Knoxville. Mr. King was preceded in death by wife, Cuneda Fine King; mother and father, Ella and Audley King; brothers, Orville King, Burnette King, Audley Ray Jr. King, and John Blankenship King; sisters, Evelyn McClain and Bernice Thomas.

Bruce, John Samuel (Sam) – age 65 of North Knoxville, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Baptist Medical Center. Sam’s 65 years were filled with energy, faith and a deep love for his family and friends. He grew up in Boston, GA and has called Knoxville home for 36 years. Sam served in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan. He was a long time member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was employed by National Waterworks (Davis Meter) for 40 years as a District Manager. Sam served as an Associate Member on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts and was placed on their wall of fame. He loved the outdoors where he spent time hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and feeding his chipmunks. His favorite hobby, however, was aviation. He was an avid pilot who spent time hanging out at Island Home Airport. Sam’s greatest passion was for his wife, 2 children and their spouses and 4 grandchildren. His quick wit, smooth demeanor and South Georgia accent will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Lee and his staff at Baptist Hospital for the love and care of Sam. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Mary Ruth Bruce.
