He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Blankenship, Jellico; son, John Blankenship, Jr. and wife Melissa of Jellico; daughters, Machelle Lay and husband, Jeff of Little Elk; grandchildren, Wesley Blankenship, Bethany Blankenship, Paula Blankenship, Jeffrey Lay and John Michael Lay; brothers, William “Waddy” Blankenship and wife, Glenda of LaFollette, Rev. Melvin Blankenship and wife, Sharon of Pioneer, Marvin Blankenship and wife, Jetta of Jellico; sisters, Peggy Bolton and husband, Junior of Habersham and Cherry Wilson and husband, Ronald of Jellico; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were June 22 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Cox and Rev. Carson Hatfield officiating. Interment
was in the Douglas cemetery.

Otella Juanita Boshears
Otella Juanita Boshears, age 80 of Caryville died June 21, 2004 at the home of her daughter. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Caryville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Susie Edwards Ferguson; sister, Gladys; husband, Arlice (Sonny) Boshears; son, James W. Boshears.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Lobertini, LaFollette; sons and daughter-in-law, Brian and Angie Boshears, Jacksboro, Lou Boshears, Milton, Fl; grandchildren, Jennifer Boshears Goins, Josh and Travis Boshears, all of Jacksboro, Shawna Upshaw, Katy, Tx, Jonathan Boshears, Cantonement, Gl; great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Olivia Goins, Christian, Noah and Alexis Upshaw; brother, Billy Furgeson, Lake City; several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were June 23 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Robert Adkins and Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment
will be June 24(Thursday) in Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Elsie Lena Branam, age 87 of White Oak died June 17, 2004 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in LaFollette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Branam; son, Johnny Branam; daughter, Eileen Taylor.
She is survived by her sons, Otis Branam, White Oak, Willy E. Branam, Sidney, Oh, James Branam, White Oak, Donnie Branam, Piqua, Oh, William Branam, Sidney, Oh, Uyles Ray Branam, Sidney, Oh; daughters, Louise Delk, White Oak, Sue Stooksbury, White Oak, Katherine Pegg, Morrisburg, Pauline Napier, Vero Beach, Fl; 39 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 20 at White Oak Church of God with Rev. Cecil Delk and Rev. Paul Cox officiating. Interment
was in the Bolton cemetery.

James Elmer Cox
James Elmer Cox, age 75 of LaFollette died June 17, 2004 at the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of the Cumberland View Baptist Church. He loved to ride horses and mules and listening to bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Ray Cox; daughter, Margaret Cox Hale; parents, Luther and Estel Chadwick Cox; brothers, Dulan and Delmar Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Lula May Cox of LaFollette; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stacy Cox of Jacksboro; daughter and son-in-law, Zelma and Bert Wilson; grandchildren, Travis Shears, Lisa Wilson, and Carl James Rutherford; great grandchildren: Eddy Lee and Paul Wilson, Logan and Nathaniel Rutherford, Jonathan Cox and Tyler Smith; sisters-in-law, Goldie Cox of LaFollette and Lola Cox of Jacksboro; a host of other relatives and friends.

Walter Elijah and Vonda Gabrielle Gibson
Infant brother and sister, Walter Elijah and Vonda Gabrielle Gibson died June 21, 2004 at Children’s Hospital in Knoxville.
They were preceded in death by their grandfather, Bobby Petree.
They were survived by their parents, Walter and Rebekah Henderson Gibson; sister, Aleine Gibson; grandparents, Walter and Louwanda Gibson, Jimmy and Vonda Lowe; great grandmother, Shirley Bragg; great great grandmother, Ella Mae Sutton; uncles, Joseph Petree and Carl Gibson all of Duff; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were June 23 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Lowe officiating. Interment
was in Gibson cemetery.

Jackie W. Goins
Jackie W. Goins, age 68 of Sidney, Oh died June 9, 2004 at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community. He was born April 28, 1936 in LaFollette, the son of the late Thed and Pheba (Lumpkins) Goins. On August 19, 1961 he married Lenora Keith and she survives him and lives in Sidney, Oh. He was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church, a Cincinnati Reds Baseball Fan. He enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren. He was a machine repairman for the former Gartland Haswell Foundry for 22 years and retired in 1981.
Preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Gregory Goins and wife, Pam and Douglas Goins of Sidney, Oh; grandchildren, Trevor, Baily and Abiggil Goins all of Sidney, Oh; brother, Ray Goins, Reynoldsburg, OH.
Funeral services were June 12 at the Sidney Baptist Church in Sidney, Oh with Rev. Dave Morgan officiating. Interment

Jessie B. Green, age 89 of Jacksboro died June 17, 2004 at the St. Mary’s Health and Rehab Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the East Jacksboro Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garfield and Pearl Stanfield Leach.
She is survived by her sons, Boyd, Clyde, and Roy Green; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Hannah Green and Paul and Georgea Green; daughter, Hilda Green all of Jacksboro; daughter and son-in-law, Emma and Andrew Caldwell of Caryville; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother: Garfield Leach of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Joie Ayers of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Meldia M. Hayes
Meldia M. Hayes, age 80 of Jacksboro died June 20, 2004 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the West Walden Street Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barton Hayes; parents, James Franklin and Hassie Hicks Norman; brothers, Joe, Jake, and Bill Norman; sister, Eliza Hatfield; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hayes; son-in-law, Floyd Cook.
She is survived by her sons, James W. Hayes of Powell, Jerry W. Hayes of Jacksboro; daughters, Linda Zehr of Dayton, OH, Norma Cook of Richmond, IN; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Nannie Lee Higdon
Nannie Lee Higdon of Jacksboro died June 15, 2004 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee, Knoxville. She was a member of Jacksboro United Methodist Church and was a longtime hairdresser in Jacksboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Higdon; children, Carl Robert and Linda.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Higdon and J.R. Higdon.
Funeral services were June 18 at Jacksboro United Methodist Church. Interment
was in Jacksboro cemetery.

Bennie McGhee
Bennie McGhee, age 66, formerly of Clinton died June 20, 2004 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was born April 23, 1938 in Anderson County to the late Ulysses Grantz and Bessie Mae McMahan McGhee. He was a member of Blowing Springs Baptist Church. He loved fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilburn McGhee; a half brother and half sister.
He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Watson, Knoxville; brother, Doyle McGhee, Dayton, Oh and Dennis McGhee, Clinton; sisters, Delma Ridenour, New Carlisle, Oh, Cleta Brahier, Milton, Fl, June Pyles, Caryville and Flossie Ferguson, Clinton; grandchildren, Lori Roberts, William Roberts and Mark Watson; great grandson, Brent Taylor.
Graveside services were June 23 at the New Vasper cemetery with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lester Gene Maddox
Lester Gene Maddox, of LaFollette died June 18, 2004 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 17 days. He was born December 1, 1917, in Claiborne County to George and Maggie Maddox of Speedwell. He was a farmer, former employee of Imperial Reading Corporation, served in World War II in the Army as a tail gunnery instructor, and was of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two infant brothers, two infant sisters; brother, Lawrence; sister Estelle; daughter Connie Jo Pinion.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lee Maddox of LaFollette; children, Glenda Steinberg of Jacksonville, FL, Jerry Maddox of New Orleans, LA, Rodney Maddox of Crossville, TN, Danny Maddox of Stockbridge, GA; 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Maddox of Clinton, Verlin Maddox of Speedwell, Haze Maddox of Cumberland Gap, and Floyd (Can) Maddox of Speedwell; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were June 21 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Larry Watts and Rev. William Hicks officiating. Music by Gospel Harmony. Interment
was in Ausmus cemetery in Speedwell with military Honors conducted by Campbell County Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
