Desmond Waddell, 21, of Parrottsville, died Monday, March 13, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Decater Waddell and Doc Belcher.
He is survived by his father, Gary Waddell of Parrottsville; mother, Wilma Dean Jenkins of Newport; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Christy Waddell, and nephew, Hunter Waddell, all of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandmothers, Louise Waddell and Betsy Belcher, both of Newport; grandfather, Roby Phillips of Newport; special friend, Marlo McGaha of Newport; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Dalton officiating. Burial will be in Faubian cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home.

Carolyn Sue Winchester, 56, of Del Rio, passed away March 7 at her home.
She was a member of Fugate Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Franklin and Mary Katherine Sanford; son, Robert David Edwards; and brother, Harold Dale Sanford.
She is survived by her husband, Jehu Winchester of Del Rio; son, Jamie Allen Winchester of Del Rio; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Larry Woody and Sherry and Buford Hayes of Del Rio; stepson, David Winchester of Marion, North Carolina; stepson and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Jackie Winchester of Marion, North Carolina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aaron and Norma Winchester of Waynesville, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne and Pat Sanford of Clinton; sisters, Frances Green of Cruso, North Carolina, and Freda Clark and Kathy Sanford, both of Waynesville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Amanda Parker of Waynesville, North Carolina, Jeramy Caldwell, Andrew Woody and Crystal Caldwell, all of Del Rio, and Jennifer Turner of Newport; step-grandchildren, Brittany, Tianna, Michael and Ashley Winchester, all of Marion, North Carolina; and one great-grandchild, Cassey Parker of Waynesville, North Carolina.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fugate Freewill Baptist Church. The body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Rev. Jerry Nelson, Rev. Willis Miller and Rev. Ernest Sawyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Sand Hill cemetery.

Omalene Spurgeon, 70, of Sevierville, died Tuesday, March 7.
She was preceded in death by son, Keith Spurgeon.
Survivors: husband, James C. Spurgeon; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Wilma Spurgeon, Jearld and Teresa Spurgeon, Billy and Lori Spurgeon, Jimmy Spurgeon, and Rodney Spurgeon; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Randles, Sharlene Sutton and Earl Moore, and Carolyn Nybeck; grandchildren, Chris and Vanessa Spurgeon, Stacie and Len Kent, Tommy Sutton, Schaanda Nalley, Justin Spurgeon, Scott Nybeck, Shala Spurgeon, Beth Nybeck, Dalton Spurgeon, Ashlee Spurgeon, and Emilee Spurgeon; great-grandchild, David Austin Spurgeon; brothers, Elmore and Vernal Williams; and sister, Jean Jenkins.

will follow in the Gate cemetery.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James Sherman and Jeanette Sprouse of Newport and Eddie Dean and Arlene Sprouse of Newport; son, James Earl Sprouse Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Imogene and Charles Northern of Newport; brothers, Luther Tommy Daniels of LaFollette and Jack Daniels of Morristown; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Townzella Gray

Townzella (Zella) Gray, 86, of Newport, passed away at her home Wednesday afternoon following an apparent heart attack.
She was a member of the English Creek Baptist Church.
Zella had worked for 25 years as a cook at Sky Chief before retiring in 1975. She then worked part time at the Log Cabin Restaurant.
She is survived by one sister, Eula Mae Shoemaker of Newport; nieces, Florence Soltys of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Christine Smith, Joyce Pack, and Brenda McNabb, all of Newport, Carolyn Spence of Parrottsville, Judy Hopson of Morristown, Druann Gregg of Lawrenceburg, Virginia, and Teresa Cathcart of Jefferson City; nephews, Glenn Gray of Alexandria, Virginia, George Gray of Newport, and Robby and Jim Heffner, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; and several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. Interment
will be in the Allen-Bryant cemetery.

Gene Cameron

Gene Cameron, 68, of Trenton, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on March 2.
He was born in Bybee on March 15, 1931. He was a member of West Greene Freewill Baptist Church; a veteran of the Korean War; and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Lily Cameron; sister, Elizabeth Livesay; and brother, Porter Cameron.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth “Dean” Cameron; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Keith Cameron and DanNell Lloyd Cameron; granddaughter, Alexa Kate Cameron; sisters, Viola Harrison of Point Pleasant, Eula Evans of Newport, Geneva Williams of Dandridge, and Ina Holt of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at StubbleÞeld Funeral Home with Dr. Kenyn Cureton officiating. Interment
was in the West Greene Freewill Baptist Church cemetery with military honors by the Greeneville VFW Post.

Bernice Toby, 59, of Midway, passed away Thursday morning, March 2, at Takoma Hospital after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bewley and Zora Fox Toby; nephew, Billy Joe Barnes Jr.; and great-niece, Kathy Danielle Barnes.
Survivors: sisters, Mollie (Hubert) Love Sr. of Dandridge, Juanita (Jerry) Miller Sr. of Midway, Charlcie (Billy) Barnes Sr. of White Pine, and Mary Ann Tolliver (Kyle) of Mosheim; brother, J.C. (Dorothy) Toby of Jefferson City; eight nieces; six nephews; 13 great-nieces; 13 great-nephews; aunts, Dixie McMahan and Annie Epley, both of Morristown, and Bessie Fox of Newport; and one special great-niece, Jessica Rosenbalm.
