Frankie Bragg Todd, age 65 of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, November 20, 2006 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, she was a cashier at Foodlion and a member of Hillview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert and Louise Redmon Bragg. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Todd of Murfreesboro; daughter, Vicki (Scott) Grubb of Murfreesboro: step-sons, Mike (Patti) Todd and Kevin (Rita) Todd; step-daughter, Annette (Pat) Bales of Murfreesboro; brother, Bobby Bragg of Wartrace, TN; grandchildren, Amber, Alyssa, Shelby, Todd, Michael, Tabitha, Charlie, Travis, Ashlynn and Gabrielle.

Graveside service for Mrs. Todd will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. John Haynes officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Bragg, David Bragg, Kevin Bragg, Jason Bragg, Scott Grubb and Milton Douglas.

Robert William Wissinger

Robert William Wissinger, age 62, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Margaret (Davidson) and Walter Wissinger. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, he was a teacher and coach in the Rutherford County School System until his retirement in 2000 after having taught in the system for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wissinger. He is survived by his loving wife, Nedra Brooksbank Wissinger, daughters; Cindy (Jeff) Cuneo and Mary Lynn (Gregory) Gilliam, and grandchildren; Robert Tyler Cuneo, Matthew Blake Cuneo, Jessica Lynn Gilliam and Hannah Marie Gilliam.

A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Gene Wise officiating. James V. Collins

James V. Collins, age 93 of Rockvale TN, passed away December 3, 2006 at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. He was a native of Campbell County, TN. Mr. Collins retired with 30 years in the United States Air Force as a SMgt.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by; his parents, Joseph Uriah and Florence Ridenour Collins; and ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by; his wife Jeanne R. Pembery Collins of Rockvale; five sons, Joe Collins and Jason Collins both of Rockvale, James R. Collins of Murfreesboro, Jim B. Collins and Virgil Tyron Collins both of Louisiana; two sisters, Evelyn Ocie Wilson and Estelle Melton Collins.

Graveside services for Mr. Collins will be 11:00 am Thursday at Middle TN. State Veterans cemetery in Pegram, TN.

Hubert Glenn Rowland

Hubert Glenn Rowland, age 78, of Lascassas passed away Saturday May 12, 2007at his residence after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, he retired from Johns Manville Corp. in Waukegen, IL. and he was a member of the Baptist Church.

Mr. Rowland was preceded in death by his first wife, Gracie Herrod Rowland; parents, Eath Franklin (Teet) and Tidye Elizabeth Hendrix Rowland; son, Hubert (Sonny) Rowland; daughter, Elizabeth Childs; brothers, Curtis R. Rowland, Charles Palmer Rowland and Dartis Rowland. He is survive by his wife, Elizabeth Batey Rowland of Lascassas; daughters, Barbara Paschalidis of Lascassas and Connie (Pete) Morgan of Kenosha, Wisconsin; brother, Lonnie (Betty) Rowland of Illinois; sister, Hilda (Roy) Avenaris of Zion, Ill; step-son, James Robert (Rita) Batey and step-daughter, Peggy (J. C.) Reed both of Lascassas; daughter-in-law, Ann Rowland of Lascassas; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandhildren.

Funeral service for Mr. Rowland will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Darrel Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes cemetery. Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers.

Julie Peters, passed away on May 9, 2007 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; Paul and Katie Sedlak Vargo, husbands; Joseph Policy and John Peters. Ruby Haynes Goolsby

Ruby Haynes Goolsby, age 65 of Murfreesboro, passed away Saturday May 12, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Wilson County. Mrs. Goolsby was a member of the Lighthouse Ministries and of the Apostolic Faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Grant Haynes. She is survived by; her mother, Nellie Macon Haynes of Lebanon, TN; one son, Tony (Renee) Fuller of Murfreesboro, TN; three daughters, Linda (Jason) Robbins of Murfreesboro, Robbie (Frankie) Minchey of Carthage, TN and Teresa Diane Fuller of Donelson, TN; two brothers, James Haynes of Cookeville, TN and Melvin Haynes of Lebanon, TN; four sisters, Ann Jordan of Lebanon, TN, Patsy Barrett of Auburntown TN, Shirley Reed of Auburntown, TN and Nancy Stroud of Lebanon, TN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goolsby will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Jennings & Ayers Chapel with Steve Pendergrast officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley's Creek cemetery. Pallbearers include; Elisha Clouse, Scotty Goolsby, Patrick Sisco, Curtis Daniels, Bobby Stroud and Chaz Hazelwood.

Hillus Earl Barber

Hillus Earl Barber, age 80 of Murfreesboro, passed away Tuesday May 15, 2007 at his residence. A native of Macon County, he had lived in Rutherford County for the past 17 years. He was a retired butcher, a member of Bell Buckle United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U S Navy having served in WW II, a past Master Mason with the Madison Lodge.

Mr. Barber was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bydie Jones Barber. He is survived by his wife, Florence Osborne Barber of Murfreesboro; sons, Michael (Jill) Barber of Hermitage and Darrell Barber of White House; daughters, Patricia (Ron) Lindsey of Tampa, FL, Donna (Billy) Sumners of White House and Pamela (Clayburn) Nobles of Carrie, KY; step-children, Tamara Dozier of LaVergne, Marion Osborne of Donelson and James Osborne of Nashville; brother, Ray Dean (Melba) Barber of LaFayette; sister, Wilma Johns of Carthage and a sister-in-law, Lois Barber; 20 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; several grandsons-in-law and granddaughters-in-law.

Calenous P. (C. P.) Wrather

Calenous P. (C. P.) Wrather, age 82 of the Leanna Community, passed away Friday April 27, 2007 at the Nashville VA Hospital after an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he retired from Purity Milk Co. and Wrather Refrigeration. He was a veteran of the U S Navy having served in WW II and a member of the Leanna Church of Christ. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Wrather was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Davis and Daisy Lane Wrather; brothers, Paul, Joe and Dudley Wrather and a sister, Betty Jane Wrather. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Opal Mays Wrather of the Leanna Community; son, Robert Dean (Dottie) Wrather of Leanna; brothers, Cleveland Wrather, Charlie Sam (Senia) Wrather, Lytle (Mary) Wrather and William (Wanda) Wrather all of Murfreesboro; sister, Minerva (Richard) Vines of Nashville; grandchildren, Jason Wrather and Deana Wrather; step-grandchildren, John and James Pitts; great-grandchild, Callie Barton and step-great-grandchild, Erica Pitts.

Marie Hudson Travis

Marie Hudson Travis, age 89 of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker and a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Gilbert Travis; and her parents, Leonard M. and Addie Ross McClendon Hudson. She is survived by sons, Franklin D. Travis of Murfreesboro and Leonard L.(Nancy) Travis of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Leonard Larry Travis of Winchester, Vickie Travis of Unionville, Susan Marie Jones, Donna Louise Sanford and Lori Denise Clanton all of Shelbyville and Nancy Nicole Waterson of Unionville; 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Travis will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. Jim Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Aiden Matthew Kincaid

Aiden Matthew Kincaid, age 6 months went to heaven to be with the other angels Tuesday April 24, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

He was born in Rutherford County to his parents, Derrick Kincaid and Danielle LaDuke. He is also survived by his grandparents, Patricia and Jim Cormeny of Murfreesboro, Eddie D. Kincaid of Spring Hill, TN, Jutta LaDuke and James LaDuke of Syracuse, New York; great-grandparents, Nannie Sue Parker of Murfreesboro, Maxine Kincaid of Spring Hill, TN, Mario and Helga Petruzzelli of Tampa, Florida and Shirley Harding of Syracuse, New York.

Funeral service for Aiden will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow in Coleman cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Paul Geier, Frank Lotitto and Brett LaDuke.

Mary Elrod Knight

Mary Elrod Knight, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2007. Born April 10, 1910 in the Porterfield Community to the late Charles Clark Elrod and Pearl Alexander Elrod. Beloved wife, aunt and good friend to many, Mary was a lifelong Presbyterian and charter member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. From 1930-1975, she was an employee of the Murfreesboro Bank and Trust Company, where she retired as Vice-President and Secretary to the Board.

She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews and supported them in a variety of ways over the years.

Mary is pre-deceased by her husband, Melvin Knight, and survived by her twin sister, Sara Elrod Taylor and twenty nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jennings and Ayers on Sunday and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, on Monday, May 7, 2007, followed immediately by the funeral service. Laura Ruth Terrel Hughes

Laura Ruth Terrel Hughes passed away on April 29, 2007 at her residence. She was a native of Dekalb County, but lived in Rutherford County most of her life. Laura was a homemaker and was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Arlena Ashburn Terrell, and her husband Carl Sanders Hughes, brother, Bernice Terrell, and sisters; Daisy Ferrell and Rosa Washer. She is survived by her daughters; Jan (Dan) Bush of Gum Community and Sandra (Randy) Blanton of Murfreesboro, brother, Ernest Ray Terrell of Hermitage, sisters; Lela Summers of Sparta, Betty Moss of Lebanon, and Nell Medley of Smithville, grandchildren; Tara (Joseph) Dowell, Terrell Ashworth, and Ryan Hampton, step-grandson, Daniel (Angela) Bush, and great-step-grandchild, Anabella Bush.

A chapel service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Blair and Rev. George Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. J. T. Harris, Sr.

J. T. Harris, Sr., 87, of the Blackman Community, died Monday at Vanderbilt Hospital from complications following a heart procedure.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris Eva McClaran and Childress Theophilus Harris; a brother, Thomas Harris, and beloved wife of 63 years, Wynell Belew Harris.

He was a long time resident of the Blackman Community. After he and Wynell were married in 1938, a resident of that community was told to have said they rode into Blackman on a bicycle. J. T. was age eighteen and Wynell fifteen, just two kids. Later they bought the Blackman Grocery Store business, owning and operating that business for some 20 odd years.

He was a member of the Murfreesboro Kiwanis and Sportsman Clubs.

J. T. was a farmer the majority of his life and later served a six year term on the Rutherford County School commission. He was employed by the Middle Tennessee State University Department of Police some years later and retired from the Middle Tennessee State University Film Library.

Survivors include son, Jimmy (Peggy) Harris of Murfreesboro and daughter, Annelle (Ralph) Smith with whom he lived in the Blackman Community. Other surviving members include grandsons, Gregory Keith Smith (Lisa S.) of Blackman Community and Jason Harris Smith (Michelle) of Chattanooga, granddaughter, Ginna Marie (Bruce) Watson of Rockvale; six great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Surviving sisters are Marcella (Norm) Farmer of Murfreesboro, Kitty (Randall) Wood of Almaville; brothers, Philip (Edna) Harris and Harold (Aline) Harris both of Nashville.

Visitation with the family will be at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 P.M. until 8 P. M. Funeral services will be at the Blackman United Methodist Church Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Officiating ministers will be the Reverend Bryan Brooks, the Reverend Gayle Watson, and Bro. Doyle Hayes. Interment icon will be in the McClaran Family cemetery, Almaville Community.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blackman United Methodist Building Fund, Smyrna Senior Citizen Program or Unity Baptist Church.

Kenneth Gerald Fowler

Kenneth Gerald Fowler passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at Stone Crest Medical Center. He was a native of Alabama and has lived in Rutherford County for the past fifty years. He retired from Cummins Sign Company, and The Army National Guard having served in Operation Desert Storm. Kenneth was also member of the Smyrna Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Melvin G. and Virginia Cates Fowler. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Shirley Haynes Fowler of Smyrna, son, Kevin G. (Sharon) Fowler of Manchester, daughter, Pamela Rhodes of Walter Hill, TN, brothers; Doyle Fowler of Ohio, Glen Fowler of Murfreesboro, TN, and Jerry Fowler of Altamont, TN, sisters; Nina Merritt of Eagleville, Margaret Putnam of Murfreesboro, Patsy Smith of Murfreesboro, Kathie Meadow of Smyrna, Susan Gifford of Winchester, Gay Hannah of Estill Springs, and grandchildren; Justin, Heather, Megan, Renee', and Michelle.

Terry Michael Stoner

Terry Michael Stoner, age 46 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Franklin, TN he had lived in Rutherford County for the past 30 years. He worked in the heating and air business and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Mr. Stoner was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Waller Barnes. He is survived by his father, T. L. (Joyce) Stoner of Lewisburg; brother, Trasbin Stoner, II of Nashville and a sister Deborah (Ken) Renner of Murfreesboro.

Funeral service for Mr. Stoner will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Bro. Len Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will serve as active pallbearers.

Carolyn Lorene Bond Cordell

Carolyn Lorene Bond Cordell, died April 30, 2008 at the residence of her daughter in Lascassas, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. A. Bond and Carrie Bell Dunaway Bond of Wilson County, TN and her husband, Harley E. Cordell; one brother, James W. Bond of Fairborn, Ohio; a sister, Robbye B. Williams of Lebanon, TN. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanita F. (Don) Strang; four grandchildren, Jennifer L. (Buell) Noteboom of Federal Way, WA, D. Thomas Strang of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Jacquelyn S. Strang of Beach Park, IL and James J. Strang of Wheeling, IL; 3 great-grandchildren, Sarah E. Noteboom and Austin M. Noteboom of Federal Way, WA and Amanda A. Pokorny Strang of Addison, IL. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy (John) Comer of Murfreesboro.

She was a member of the Compton Road Church of Christ in Murfreesboro. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Bro. David Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson County Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, TN.

Juanita Marlena Paradise

Juanita Marlena Paradise, age 61, passed away at St. Thomas Hospital on Saturday, April 26, 2008. She was a native of Davidson County but lived in Rutherford County most of her life. She was a former employee of WGNS radio station, United Family Life Insurance and a Homemaker.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; Oscar William and Minnie James Pruitt, sister, Jean Pruitt and daughter, Sherry Smithson. She is survived by her husband, Chris Paradise, son, Terry Smithson of Nashville, daughter, Tammy (Steve) Davis of Walter Hill, sister, Eula (Pete) Riddle of Greenbrier, and grandchildren; Joshua, Adrianne, Tasia, Camden and Jake.

Services for Juanita will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Chapel with Nanette Mathe officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Bobbie Lee Nix

Bobbie Lee Nix, age 78 of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Wartburg, TN she lived in Murfreesboro most of her life. She was in sales and a member of Southeast Baptist Church.

Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie F. Nix, Sr.; her parents, Edward Lee Davis, Sr. and Jane Green Davis. She is survived by a son, Ellie F. Nix, Jr. of Horsham, PA; daughter, Faleecia (Garry) Taylor of Murfreesboro; brothers, Edward Lee (Helen) Davis, Jr. of Gallatin and Kenneth Lee Davis of Harriman, TN; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Joe D. Costa

Joe D. Costa, age 53 of Murfreesboro, passed away, Saturday April 26, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he was a Tool and Die Maker, a veteran with the U S Marines and a Baptist.

Mr. Costa was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Costa. He is survived by his mother, Janet Carey Brown of Murfreesboro; sons, Joshua Costa and Corey Costa both of Murfreesboro; daughters, Jennifer Black and Nita Burns both of Columbia; brother, Drew Brown of Murfreesboro and 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
