He was an employee of Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1996 as a maintenance supervisor in East Peoria, IL. Following retirement he was a consulting engineer for Caterpillar in Dyersburg, last working on July 30th. .

He received the American Theater Ribbon: Eame Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

Ticonderoga and was present in Tokyo Bay as a member of the occupation force during the surrender of the Japanese to the Allied Powers, a member of Pemiscot County CB Club, the Motorcycle Club and the Triangle Boat Club.
