He was a retired employee of the Department of Agriculture and farmer, a member of Nebo Methodist Church, past president of the Tennessee Quarter Horse Association and a member of West Tennessee American Quarter Horse Association.

Dr. Homer Edward Johns, 90, of Jackson, died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Jackson General Hospital. Johns was born in Dyer County, the son of the late Arter Edward and Effie Collins Johns. He spent almost 50 years as a United Methodist Minister including six years as District Superintendent of the Brownsville District. He was a graduate of Lambuth College and continued to remain active in various functions of the school for many years.
