He was former assistant public defender and assistant District Attorney General for Dyer and Lake counties, county attorney for Lake County, owned a private law practice in Tiptonville, was the general counsel for Peoples Protective Corp., Chief Deputy Commissioner of Insurance and Banking for the state of Tennessee, attorney for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, associate general counsel for the regional counsel's office of the U.S. .
