He was a farmer and a custodian at Lake County Courthouse for nine years and a member of Willingham Memorial Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Brother Marvin Wilson officiating. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely.

Rose J. Gregory, 75, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 at Baptist Hospital-East in Memphis. She was a homemaker. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Fairview cemetery in Newbern with Father Elbert Callis officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Newbern.

Thalia Louise Sorrell Hulme, 84, of Bonicord, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a former employee of Family Shoe Store and Holice Powell School cafeteria, attends First Assembly of God in Dyersburg and is a 1938 graduate of Dyersburg High School.

Robert "Cigar" Ward Jr., 51, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at his residence. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at People's Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Sammie Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services are in charge of arrangements.

John Darrell Gill, 52, of Trimble, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at his residence. He was sales manager for Nix-A-Mite Exterminators, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Trimble First Baptist Church and a member of Trimble American Legion. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Dr. William Oakley and the Rev. Albert McCadney officiating. Burial will be in Pierce cemetery in Trimble.

Embree Edward Paul, 69, of West Frankfort, Ill., formerly of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Franklin Hospital. He was a former employee of Colonial Rubber Works and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Ill. with the Rev. Alan Summers officiating. Burial will be in East Fork cemetery.

James Franklin Wilson (01/23/04)
James Franklin Wilson, 82, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Carmon Dennison officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Ervin Bernard Jelks, 44, of Trenton, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was an employee of Bekaert Steel Company for 14 years and a U.S. Army veteran. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at New First Baptist Church in Maury City with Elder Ewell Jelks officiating. Burial will be in New cemetery in Maury City. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home in Dyersburg is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Wendell McManus, 85, of Trimble, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at Wesley Care Center in Dyersburg. He was a member of Halls Church of Christ. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Trent McManus officiating. Burial will be in Pierce cemetery in Trimble.

Lillie L. Heiney, 100, of Arlington, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 at Methodist Hospital-North in Memphis. She was a homemaker. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely with the Rev. Waymon Hogue officiating. The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home.

Odom Marie "Grannie Re" Berry, 85, of Newbern, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Newbern First United Methodist church with the Rev. Tommy Jowers and Dr. David Comperry officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbern Ersie Johnson, 83, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Care. He was retired president of Production Credit Association, a lifetime active member of First Christian Church, member and past president of Dyersburg Kiwanis Club and a veteran of World War II.

William Murray Thornton, 76, of Dyersburg, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at the Veteran's Hospital in Memphis. He was a retired TV technician. Survivors include his wife, Edith Thornton of Dyersburg; three sisters, Louise Rogers and Martha Siddens, both of Dyersburg and Stella Jackson of Oklahoma; and a brother, Raymond Thornton of Yuba City, Calif.

Charlotte Cogbill Brigham, 96, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at her residence. Family and friends remember she was a "woman well ahead of her time as the corporate officer of a successful business long before most women had careers." She worked for Edenton Lamb Company. .

Myrtle Brown Reed, 80, of Ripley, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at her residence. She was a homemaker and the widow of Samuel L. Reed. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Nelson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Ripley. Burial will follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life in Covington. The Rev. Clayton Reece will officiate.

James Harold Riggins, 71, of Yorkville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton. He was born Sept. 6, 1932 in Glasgow, Mo., to the late John and Alberta Riggins. He spent most of his childhood and early adult life in Dyer County. He has lived in Yorkville for the last 42 years where he was self-employed. He served both Gibson County and the City of Yorkville for many years in the area of law enforcement.

Evelyn Jean Henson, 78, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at her residence. She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics and a Baptist. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother William Henson and Brother Larry Ricketts officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

William Lonas Taylor Jr., 78, of Knoxville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004. He was retired as vice president of Foreign and Domestic Veneers and as president of Taylor Veneers, a member of Central Baptist Church in Bearden and The King's Men's Sunday school class and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
