HAMPSHIRE - William Arglus King, 91, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Lewis County Manor in Hohenwald.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Kittrell Cemetery in Hampshire with Trent Humphreys officiating.
He was a resident of Hampshire and the son of the late Arglus and Pearl King.
Survivors include his wife, Vergie King of Hampshire; sons, Vernon and David King of Hampshire; a brother, Donald King of Hampshire; a sister, Ella Mae Lane of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

LAWRENCEBURG - Mary Angela Dickey, 46, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at NHC-Hillview in Columbia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Neal Funeral Home with Carlos Castell and Wayne Ashford officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Giles County.
She worked in the office of a construction company.
Survivors include parents, Clifford and Mary Dickey of Ethridge; a daughter, Michelle Stiteler of Lewisburg; and two grandchildren.
Della Prince Dawson

CENTERVILLE - Della Prince Dawson passed away on Friday, April 16, 2004, at the Baptist Hickman Nursing Home in Centerville at the age of 94.
She was a former resident of Columbia and attended the First Methodist Church. Della was born Aug. 27, 2909 in Newark, Ark. There she married Cliff Edgar Dawson on Dec. 23, 1928. Cliff passed away Feb. 16, 1995.
She was preceded in death by granddaughters, Teresa Johnson Locke and Lisa Carol Dawson Alberts; and a great-granddaughter, Stacy Dawn Scribner.
She is survived include a son, Billy Ray (Susan) Dawson of Columbia; daughters, Della Ruth (Earl) Hood of Memphis and Betty Jean (Raymond) Johnson of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren and many great- and great-great grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in her hometown of Newark, Ark.
Miss Pauline Anderson

Miss Pauline Anderson, 78, a resident of Hatcher Lane in Columbia, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services for Miss Anderson will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Wayne Parks and the Rev. E.G. Sims officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family visited with friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Thomas Bailey and Mattie Hayes Anderson. She was a homemaker and formerly of the Fountain Heights and Groveland Communities. She was a member of the Pleasant Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church in which she was active in the affairs of the CPW for many years.
She is survived by a sister, Louise Uzzell of Columbia; four brothers, Lewis Anderson and Thomas Bailey (Peggy) Anderson Jr., both of Columbia, Paul (Edna) Anderson of Lewisburg and Malcolm Curtis (Judy) Anderson of Culleoka; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Mai Ervin of Lewisburg; three brothers, John B. Anderson of Lewisburg and Vaden "Shag" Anderson and Morgan Anderson both of Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Ray Anderson, Teddy B. Anderson, Douglas Wayne Uzzell, Randall Anderson, Tommy Anderson, Malcolm Hazelwood, Charles Martin, Jerry Norman and Harry Mitchell.

Mr. Franklin 'Frank' Nichols

Mr. Franklin "Frank" Nichols, 70, a resident of First Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services for Mr. Nichols will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy McNeece officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Butler and Annie Powell Nichols. He was the husband of Louise Barnes Nichols. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a former employee of TVA for the Columbia Dam Construction. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #10 and a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Paul) Cothran of Mt. Pleasant; five sons, Richard (Cody) Nichols, Mack (Renee) Emmitt, Randy (Cindy) Emmitt and Phillip Emmitt all of Mt. Pleasant, and Bobby Ray (Angela) Emmitt of Summertown; a brother, George (Rachel) Nichols; grandchildren, Bailey Nichols, Jermy (Amanda) Cothran and Jeffery (Brandy) Cothran, all of Mt. Pleasant, Emily Emmitt, Brett Emmitt and Cassie Emmitt, all of Columbia, Ashleigh Emmitt, Amy Emmitt and Kay Kay Kelley, all of Mt. Pleasant, Cassie Clawson of Ethridge and Zack Powell and Justin Powell, both of Mt. Pleasant; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Boshers and Ryan Cothran; several step-grandchildren; and his best friend Rus.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Nichols and Clyde Nichols; a half-brother, Claud Workman; a sister, Mildred Dunn; and a grandson, Lance "Bubba" Emmitt.
Pallbearers will Wade McNeece, Jermy Cothran, Jeffery Cothran, Brett Emmitt, Derek Gray, Justin Powell and Zack Powell.

Miss Mary Elizabeth Davis, 89, former resident of Parkview Apartments on West Seventh Street and retired operator and bookkeeper for Maury Poultry & Egg Company, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ted Burleson officiating. Burial will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery in Giles County. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Ozro Kenneth Davis and Ola Forsythe Davis. She was a 1934 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College.
A long-time member of the West Seventh Street Church of Christ, she taught Sunday School and was a former Sunday School Class Supervisor and member of the Tuesday Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include two brothers-in-law, Albert Compton and Floyd Pinkleton Jr., both of Columbia; two nephews, Kenneth (Frances) Compton of Columbia and Stan Pinkleton of Knoxville; three great-nephews, Jason (Sheree) Compton, Jon (Lana) Compton and Jordan Compton, all of Columbia; a great-niece, Joanna Compton (Steve) Huff of Lynnville; a great-great-nephew, Ethan Allen Compton of Columbia; a great-great-niece, Summer Compton of Columbia; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Compton and Jackie Pinkleton.
Active pallbearers are Stan Pinkleton, Kenneth Compton, Jason Compton, Jon Compton, Jordan Compton, Steve Huff and Bob Compton.

She was a sewing machine operator for Salant & Salant and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Elbert Swafford and Nora Ann Elmore; and her husband, Arch Hardy.
Survivors include a daughter, Stella Faulkner of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Hollis Swafford of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Margie Peppers of Lawrenceburg; a grandson, Shawn Holt of Lawrenceburg; and four great-grandchildren.

CORNERSVILLE - Sam Lawton Tarpley, 89, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, in NHC Healthcare.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Cornersville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Edwards and the Rev. Perry McCall officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery at Norene.
The family will be at Cornersville Funeral Home from 5-8:30 p.m. Monday for visitation. The body will lie in state at Cornersville First Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Tuesday.
He was a mayor of Cornersville for six years and the son of the late Hoyt and Elsie Tarpley.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Rebecca Phillips; sons, Jimmy Tarpley of Cornersville and Philip Tarpley of Manchester; and a brother, the Rev. Fred Tarpley of Madison, Miss.

She was the daughter of the late Orianna Ayars and Clarence Davis. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Covington. She was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Bates of Centerville; a brother, Roscoe Davis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Orianna Keen of New Jersey; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
