James Dugger Wells, 72 died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Maury regional Hospital.

Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel with Mark Cross and Danny Douglas officiating. Interment icon will be in the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.

A Giles County native, he was the son of the late Forrest and Catherine Dugger Wells. He was retired from South Central Bell, a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Eastside Church of Christ and V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Griffin Wells of Lawrenceburg; daughter, Betsy Wells Rowland of Chapel Hill; brother, Robert Wells of Dickson and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by sister Marie Mabry.

Cora Mai Walker Booker
Monday, Apr 5, 2004

Cora Mai Walker Booker, 75, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Rosewood Manor.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carmack Boulevard Church of Christ with Bobby Richey officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday at Baxter Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.

A Columbia native, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Walker. She was educated in Maury County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Winfield Booker.

She was also preceded in death by son, Lawrence Edward Booker; sisters, Betty Walker and Dorothy Booker and brothers, Kenneth Walker Jr. and Phillip Arnold Walker.

Survivors include her sons, Louis Booker, Charles Booker and Morris Booker, Lawrence Winston Booker of Lewisburg; daughters, Dorothy Claude and Linda Cruz of Pompano Beach, Fla.; brothers, Sam Walker, William Walker and Troyce Walker; sisters, Mattie Pye, Janie Lipscomb, Anna Ray, Gladys Barner and Thelma Mayberry; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Hilda Myrick
Tuesday, Apr 6, 2004

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by graveside at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with Jeff Foster officiating. Internment will be in the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.

The Lawrenceburg native was the daughter of the late Roy and Mattie B. Rogers Hardin. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Glenn Myrick. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Eddie R. Myrick of Fairhope, Ala. and Glenn H. Myrick of Chattanooga; a daughter, Rosemary M. Webb of Toccoa, Ga.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Randy Shelton
Tuesday, Apr 6, 2004

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Neal Funeral Home with Bill Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bonnertown Cemetery.

The Lawrence County native was the son of RBulis Anders Shelton of Anderson, Ala. and the late Joseph Allen Shelton. He was a mechanic.

Survivors in addition to his mother include a sister, Janice Clemmons of Anderson, Ala.; brothers, Terence Shelton of Jacksonville, Fla. and Virgil Shelton of Minor Hill.

Clyde Slate
Tuesday, Apr 6, 2004

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

He was the son of the late Mattie Viola Warren and James Arch Slate. He was retired from Chrysler Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie Cude Slate of Nunnelly; a daughter, Judith Dianne Beauregard of Bon Aqua; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Louise Watkins
Tuesday, Apr 6, 2004

Services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home. Burial is in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Earl C. Watkins of Columbia; son, Earl C. (Margo) Watkins of Livonia, Mich.; a daughter, Naomi T. (Michael) Drake of Franklin; three grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sara Louise Watkins.

V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Berryhill

The Lawrenceburg native was the daughter of the late Rufus and Georgia Harlan Liles. She was the wife of the late Lewis Berryhill. She was a homemaker and member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Benson and Mamie Holman, all of Lawrenceburg; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Thorne.

Alice Sims Rampley
Tuesday, Apr 6, 2004

Born on February 23, 1924, in Colquitt Co., Ga., she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Lucille Grubbs Sims. Mrs. Rampley was a retired Director of Family and Children's Services in Echols, Co. and attended Forrest Street Church of God.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.

She is survived by her former husband, Joseph Berry "Happy Jack" Rampley; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Rampley of Merritt Island, Fla. and Claudee Rampley of Valdosta, Ga., Steven and Kim Rampley of West Palm Beach, Fla., son and his friend, Gary Rampley and Anita Selph of Valdosta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Sloan of Columbia; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Sims of Decatur, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Norm Bishop of Bozeman, Mont., Barbara and Bob Belcher of Gwinette Co., Ga., Lucy McMullen of Chatsworth, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie Roy and Lura Mai Robinson. She was retired from Cosmolab and a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Services for Mr. Boshers will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Kenneth Gerhart and the Rev. Jason Mize officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Jason Frank and Susie Wright Boshers and husband of Ina Ruth McKennon Boshers. He was a farmer and driver for Kraft Milk and a member of the Living Waters Church of God of Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Frank) Manning of Mt. Pleasant; seven sons, Steven (Kaye) Boshers, Randy (Shirley) Boshers, Ricky (Donna) Boshers, Barry (Sherry) Boshers, Jeffery (Martha) Boshers, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Ronnie (Diana) Boshers and Terry (Angie) Boshers, both of Hampshire; two sisters, Evelyn Cummins of Nashville and Nora Lee Armstrong of Columbia; 14 grandchildren, Angie Blackburn, Shane Boshers, Donny Boshers, Jason Boshers, Matthew Manning, Jereomy Boshers, Brandy Cothran, Daniel Boshers, Kerry Boshers, Ciji Boshers, Tabitha Boshers, Britta Boshers, Jonathan Boshers and Jeff Boshers Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren, Cody Hollis, Erin Hollis, Katie Boshers, Briana Boshers, Katelyn Boshers, Will Boshers, Tyler Boshers, Ryan Cothran, Justin Boshers, Matthew Isbell and Faith Manning.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Boshers; a granddaughter, Christina Manning; and two sisters, Verley Dagnan and Lorene Boshers.

Pallbearers will be sons. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Dickey Wilkes, Richard Wilkes, Eddie McKennon, Jerry Nance, Lloyd Craft and Robby Ingrum.

Mrs. Willodyne Orr

Services for Mrs. Orr will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Phillip Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born in Birmingham, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Shirley E. and Norene Collier Jacobs and wife of the late Lyndol E. Orr. A homemaker, she and her husband restored antique furniture, worked flea markets and yard sales. She attended Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Sue Orr (Bill) Corn of Etowah; a son, Donald Edwin (Corinne) Orr of Columbia; two sisters, Oma Lee Campbell and Bettie June Johnson, both of Decatur, Ala.; four grandchildren, Lonnie Orr and Jimmy Orr, both of Columbia, Angel Alston of Atlanta, Ga., and Jennifer Myers of Raleigh, N.C.; a step-granddaughter, April Corn Womack of Knoxville; four great-grandchildren, Madison Alston and Victor Alston, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Connor Myers and Aidan Phillip Myers, both of Raleigh, N.C.

She was preceded in death by one brother, S.E. Jacobs Jr.

Pallbearers will be Terry Hodge, Ricky Hodge, Lonnie Orr, Jimmy Orr, Steve Orr and Billy Ray King. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Church of God of Prophecy, Bobby Orr and grandsons-in-law.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John Wilburn Bland

Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Limestone County, Ala., native was the son of the late Grover Bland and Sara Ann Hall Bland. He was a member of Mooresville Pike Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Irene Davis Bland of Columbia; two sons, Bill (Linda) Bland of Dyersburg and Bruce Wayne (Sherri) Bland of Gallatin; one brother, Vernon Bland of Hazel Green, Ala.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bailey Bland of Spring Hill; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, the Rev. J.W. "Jim" Bland; two sisters, Odell Mullins and Velma James; and four brothers, Lindsey Bland, Buford Bland, Bob Bland and Roy Bland.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
