Mr. Elton E. Brady
Mr. Elton Eugene "Pop" Brady, 90, a resident of Goshen Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services for Mr. Brady will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late George W. and Annie Stanfill Brady. He was the husband of Margaret Barnes Brady of the Santa Fe Community. He was a retired machine operator for Werthan Bag Company in Nashville and a member of the Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Hal) Whitacre of Trinity, Ala., and Annie (Victor) Rodriques of Pensacola, Fla.; three sons, Bobby Brady of Chattanooga, Randy (Holly) Brady of Mt. Pleasant and Kenny (Rhonda) Brady of Santa Fe; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Brady of Nashville; four sisters, Frances Crabtree of Antioch, Irene Burns of Santa Fe and Pauline Nicks and Sarah Potts, both of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Katie Humphrey and Ethel Burns; and three brothers, Eldridge "Buck" Brady, George Brady and Thomas "Junior" Brady.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ed Simmons, Bill Rodriques, David Brady, Stephen Brady, Darrell Brady, Christopher Brady and Derrick Brady.
Elaine Thompson
CORNERSVILLE - Elaine Thompson, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Marshall Medical Center.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Cornersville Funeral Home with burial in Beechwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Wesley and Bessie Bryant Word. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the Cornersville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon Thompson. She has no immediate survivors.
Margaret M. Harmon
PULASKI - Margaret M. Harmon, 88, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Maplewood Cemetery. Bennett-May Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Miller McAfee and Hazel Myrene Williams. She retired from TVA in Knoxville and Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Eunice McCanless; a son, Jerry Monroe Harmon; and brothers, Thomas Wilburn McAfee, Robert Edward McAfee and Chester Paul McAfee.
Survivors include a son, William A. Harmon; and three grandchildren.

Minnie Ruth Batten Hargrove
Mrs. Minnie Ruth Batten Hargrove, age 81, a resident of Pleasant Drive, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Hargrove was born in the Mt. Lebanon Community of Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Samuel Jesse and Minnie Alma Sutton Batten. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Hargrove was preceded in death by her husband, Erskin Carlton Hargrove; a daughter, Janis Biggers; sisters, Susie (Hoyle) Haskins and Mamyie Batten; and brothers, Charles Batten, Allen (Pearl) Batten and Everette Batten.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Charles) Tate of Columbia; sister-in-law, Maude Batten Hubbard of Nashville; grandchildren, Shane (Katy) Tate, Shelby (Brewster) Pate, Rickey Biggers and Kurston Biggers; and two great-granddaughters, Hadleigh Pate and McKenna Tate.
Services were conducted Thursday from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Gloria Watts, chaplain for Hospice of Highland Rim and the Rev. Gilly Andrews, minister at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Hopper Cemetery in the Mt. Lebanon Community of Marshall County.

Algie Lee Collins
LEWISBURG - Algie Lee Collins, 92, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Charles Williamson officiating. Interment
will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery, with committal services officiated by Jason Hart.
The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A native of Marshall County, he was the eldest son of the Grover and Jenny Phifer Collins and a member of the Church St. Church of Christ. He was educated in the Price-Webb Grammar School and graduated from Marshall County High School in 1931. Collins was a fifth generation farmer in Marshall County, and was one of the founders of the Merihil Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae London Collins, in March 2000.
He is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Sharp of Lewisburg; a son, Grover Collins of Lewisburg; brothers, Howard Collins and Sam Collins, both of Lewisburg, and Elam Collins of Dyersburg; a sister, Mildred Brown of Cornersville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Tony Mabry
Mr. Anthony Wayne "Tony" Mabry, 49, truck driver with Cal-Ark and resident of Alpine Drive, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in Nashville.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Polk Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bob Rush officiating. military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The Williamson County native was the son of the late Ernest Paul Mabry and Frances Marie Wells Mabry. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include one son, Justin Paul Mabry of Columbia; one daughter, Jenna Kristen Mabry of Columbia; one sister, Glenda (Bill) Wilson of Culleoka; one brother, Forrest Dale Mabry and friend Tanya Attkisson, both of Columbia; one half-sister, Paul Jean (Kenneth) Thatcher of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.

Sara Etta McCarty Nelson, 81, a resident of Hidden Acres Drive in Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Sunbridge Health Care Center in Kingsport.
Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Williams Columbia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Birmingham, Ala., native was the daughter of the late Charles and Eunice Blackwell McCarty and widow of Dwight Baxter Nelson Sr. She was a retired bookkeeper for Jim Wyatt Construction Company in Columbia and a member of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura Bradshaw of Kingsport; a son, Dwight Baxter (Charlene) Nelson Jr. of Shelbyville; a brother, Grover McCarty of Alabama; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Tommy Westmoreland
Mr. Sam Thomas Westmoreland, 71, retired insurance agent with Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his residence on Chestnut Drive.

Patricia Goldsmith
LEWISBURG - Patricia Jane Goldsmith, 62, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003 in Marshall Medical Center.
Services will be conducted from the chapel of London Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Friday with burial at 1 p.m. Saturday in Louisville Memorial Gardens in Louisville, Ky.
The family will be at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday for visitation.
She was a native of Louisville, Ky., and the daughter of the late Carson Embry and Hazel Carson Hulette of Louisville, Ky. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a homemaker in addition to being active in drug prevention programs, both professionally and as a volunteer.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Denise Werner of Lewisburg; a son, Brian Goldsmith of California; stepfather, James Hulette of Louisville, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carson Embry; and her husband, Richard Goldsmith.
Delores Crawford
LAWRENCEBURG - Delores Crawford, 95, of Sanford Lane in Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Harbert Hill Academy Nursing Home in Savannah.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel with Lloyd Schomburg officiating and interment
at 11 p.m. Monday in the Winamac Municipal Cemetery in Winamac, Ind.
She was a native of Marion, Ind., daughter of the late William and Elezia Landess Whiteneck and wife of the late Roy Crawford. She was a retired nurse and member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by a son, James Crawford and wife Menelva Crawford of Lawrenceburg; and one grandchild, William Crawford.
James Smith
James Smith, 92, of Columbia, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at NHC Health Care of Hillview.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny L. Anderson Sr. officiating.
Visitation with the family will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home. Burial is in Rosemount Cemetery.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Ben and Carrie Smith. He was retired from Monsanto Chemical Company and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Birdie. L. Duke Smith; one son; three brothers; one sister and one granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Smith; a daughter, Carrie Harris; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; stepdaughters, Barbara Holmes, Bettie Hardley and Linda Owens; stepsons, William Owens, Jimmie Owens, Larry Owens, Gerald Owens and Dale Owens; and several nieces and nephews.
