Betty L. Anderson
Mrs. Betty Beatrice Land Anderson, 80, a former long-time resident of Julesburg, Colo., died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her home on the Mooresville Pike near Culleoka.
A memorial service for Mrs. Anderson will be conducted at a later date at the Sedgwick Community Church in Sedgwick, Colo.
Local arrangements are by the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
The Julesburg, Colo., native was the daughter of the late Earl P. and Erva Smith Land and the wife of William Martin "Bill" Anderson.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Karen L. Turner of Culleoka; three sons, Edward L. Turner of Eugene, Ore., Lawrence J. Turner of Fernley, Nev., and Raymond (Betty) Turner of Immigrant, Mont.; four granddaughters, Cherria (Craig) Provey and Lari Stofel, both of Columbia, Dominique (Jay) Nave of Lyles and Charmaine (Mike) Langevin of Manhattan, Mont.; a grandson, Jonathan (Janet) Turner of Downey, Idaho; two step-daughters, Katherine and Monica, both of Washington state ; seven great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; two nieces and four nephews.
Mr. Percy Osro 'Pap' Sharp
Mr. Percy Osro "Pap" Sharp, 72, retired farmer, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at his residence on the Hampshire Pike in the Cross Bridges Community.
Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Percy W. Sharp and Lula J. Sharp and a graduate of Hampshire High School.
Survivors include a first cousin, Mary Belle Davidson of Hampshire; and other cousins, Ronald Davidson of Columbia, Lela Grimes and Howard Duncan, both of Hickman County, Roger Davidson of Lawrence County, Johnny Davidson of Lewis County and Denny Davidson of Lawrence County. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lemma Claude.
Active pallbearers are Ken Cecil, Gordon Travis, Millard Dale, Larry Himes, Allan Osmond and Brett Herman. Honorary pallbearers include Jack Cecil, Mooney Beard, Jeff Beard and friends in the Cross Bridges Community.
Mr. Herman E. Brown
DUCK RIVER - Mr. Herman E. Brown, 79, a resident of Duck River, died Monday June 7, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Services for Mr. Brown will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating.
Burial will be in the Hardison Cemetery on Joe Brown Road, with military honors provided by the Tennessee State Guard.
The family will visit with friends from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Born in Rayville, La., he was the son of the late Arthur and Nellie Robertson Brown and husband of Mary Ann Allen Brown.
He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He served in both the Navy, aboard the USS Attu and the USS Talagi, and the Army.
He was awarded the Victory Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He was of Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Ricky (Charlotte) Brown of Rayville, La., William Edward "Billy" (Chau Seral) Brown of Mt. Pleasant and David Wayne Brown of Spring Hill, Kenny (Tracy) Brown of Columbia and Timmy Brown; a brother, Charles Cecil Brown of Rayville, La.; a sister, Robbie Nell Brown of Rayville, La.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Arthur Brown; a wife, Marjorie May Brown; and a daughter, Tammy Brown.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Kennedy, Carl Brooks, Mark Kerey, Leonard Romeo, Kevin Lance and John Baker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Lendsey, Dr. Couch, Roy Cothran, Eddie Brown and Jr. Romeo.
Ruth Wynn
LEOMA - Ruth Pate "Buchie" Wynn, 82, of Leoma, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at NHC Healthcare.
Services were conducted Monday at Neal Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Aleridge officiating. Burial was in Dunn Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Lucy Mae Turbyfill Shedd and William E. Pate. She was the wife of the late Leo Shedd. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Tom Pate, Gerald and Harold Shedd. She attended Dunn Methodist Church.
Survivors include sisters, Janett Hoar of Lawrenceburg, Vera Shelton of Leoma and Elizabeth Rickard of Russell-ville, Ala.; and a brother, John William Shedd of Lawrenceburg.
Pauline Couch
HOHENWALD - Pauline Couch, 92, of Hohenwald, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bill Webb and Glen Floyd officiating. Burial will be in the Davis-Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Margaret Hinson and William Crowe. She was the wife of Carl Couch.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Cecil Rawdon.
Survivors in addition to her husband, include sons, Harlan Rawdon, Robert Rawdon, Ronnie Couch and Donnie Couch, all of Hohenwald; daughters, Carlene Reed of Hohenwald, Doris Barrett of Murfreesboro, Betty Couch Harris of Albaster and Nell Couch Bishop of Summertown; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

NASHVILLE - Alla Mae Oliver Leathers, 82, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Interment
will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Oliver. She was the wife of the late Judge Raymond Leathers.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Haney.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Sutton of Columbia.
Lillian Biggers
ALLISONA - Lillian Lee Burkhart Biggers, 95, of the Allisona community of Williamson County, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Funeral Home with David Homan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
The Murfreesboro native was the daughter of the late John William and Georgia Baskins Burkhart. She attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College, began teaching in 1929 and retired from teaching at Bethesda School in 1945.
She was also employed with Durgano Boot Company. She was a member of the Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander Biggers.
Survivors include daughters, Sue Stanfill and Pamela Bradley, both of Columbia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Otis B. Whatley
GUN BARREL CITY, Texas - Otis B. Whatley, of Gun Barrel City, Texas, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Athens, Texas.
Services were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Glosup and Jerry Burney officiating.
Visitation was from noon-9 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Cedar Creek Memorial Park.
Mr. Whatley was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II in which he was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star for bravery.
He was previously of Arkansas and lived in Gun Barrel since 1966 and was a builder. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mabank, Texas.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Whatley; sisters, Norene Whatley, Margie Whatley and Nettie Dowdy; brothers, Ollie Whatley and Jim L. Whatley; and his parents, Della Jones and Thomas Frances Whatley.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Whatley and wife, Melba of Coppell, Texas, and Bart Whatley and wife, Elaine of Culleoka; six grandchildren, Bryan Whatley and wife, Linda of Rockwall, Robert Whatley and wife, Valorie of Culleoka, Jason Whatley and wife, Lauren of Columbia; Brandi Whatley Harrill and husband, Derek of Mabank, Texas, Amber Whatley Quisenberry and husband, Baird of Dallas, Texas; and Brooke Whatley of Coppell, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Kristen Whatley, Amanda Whatley, Matthew Whatley, Raegan Whatley, Samuel Whatley, Abigale Harrill and Hannah Harrill; two brothers, Arlie Whatley and Allan Whatley, both of Athens, Texas; three sisters, Francis McAllister of Wynnewood, Okla., Doris McKinney of Borger, Texas, and Sue Low of Kerrville, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Randall Whatley, Jimmy Whatley, Joe Whatley, Rondie Kelley, Wayne McDonald and Jim Reece.

SMYRNA - Gene Rose Marie Henson, 71, of Smyrna, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Odyssey Healthcare.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett-May Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Fletcher Everett and Catherine Amelia Harrison Edwards. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Alton Henson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Zora Oliver.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Henson and Arthur Henson; daughters, Linda Henson, Karen Henson and Rose Shannon; brothers, Marion Edwards and F.E. "Buddy" Edwards; a sister, Amelia Edwards Henson; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Helen Stagner
ARDMORE, Ala. - Helen Trupin Stagner, 82, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of The Messiah Episcopal with Randy Dunnavant officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Bennett-May Funeral Home. Internment will be at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Ala.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sema Trupin. She was the wife of the late Russell Stagner. She was founder of Your Community Shopper in Ardmore. She was a member of The Church of The Messiah Episcopal. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leo Trupin and a sister, Ida Boscia.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Stagner, Jr. and Joseph Stagner of Ardmore; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of The Messiah Episcopal building fund.
