Ocy Albert Baxter
Mr. Ocy Albert Baxter, 68, resident of Skelley Road in Santa Fe, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Ragsdale and Bruce Buttrey officiating. Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Albert Howard Baxter and Gladys Blocker Baxter. On Nov. 26, 1955, he married Linda Lee Wilson Baxter of Santa Fe.
He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and Nashville School of Preaching.
He was retired from CSX Railroad after 30 years of employment and was a Church of Christ minister for 30 years.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dawn (Ronnie) Kephart and Denise Brady, both of Santa Fe; one son, Todd (Melissa) Baxter of Santa Fe; two grandsons, Tanner Baxter and Reed Brady, both of Santa Fe; three granddaughters, Paige Kephart, Madison Kephart and Rachael Baxter, all of Santa Fe; stepmother, Onnie Riley Baxter of Hampshire; three sisters, Louise (Pete) Brooks of Lobelville, Evelyn (Billy) Morton of Dayton and Margaret (John) Haywood of Cornersville; and one brother, Gene Ray (Judy) Baxter of Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cody Albert Baxter.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Baxter III, Gregory Baxter, Darrell Hickman, Dee Gordon, Barry Brooks, Michael Harris, Ricky Dunn and Randy Baxter.
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of CSX Railroad, and members of Liberty Lincoln Church of Christ, Shady Grove Church of Christ and Jones Valley Church of Christ.
Mary Lorene Jackson
Mary Lorene Jackson, 91, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will start at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Poteete Jackson.
She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jackson.
Survivors include sons, Allen Jackson and William "Duke" Jackson, both of Franklin, and Carl Jackson of Spring Hill; a daughter, Mary Lou Smithson of Franklin; brothers, Pat Jackson and Russell Jackson, both of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Harry Childress
Harry Childress, 81, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at NHC Pulaski.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with burial in Lynnwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was the son of the late William and Cora Joins Childress. He was retired form the Pulaski Street Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Carpenter Childress.
Survivors include sons, Billy Childress and Harold Childress, both of Lewisburg, and Richard Childress of Nashville; a daughter, Helen Speakman of Florida; stepsons, Tom, Joe Glen, Gary and Jerry Sr. Banks, all of Pulaski, and Randall Banks of Goodspring; a stepdaughter, Betty Malone of Pulaski; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Fred Bennett Kittrell
Fred Bennett Kittrell, 79, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his residence in Summertown.
Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home with Marvin Potts and Ralph Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hinestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was the son of the late Edward Kittrell and Eula White Kittrell. He was a janitor for Lawrence County Schools. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Zimmerman Kittrell.
Survivors include sons, Fred Kittrell Jr. of Summertown and Freddie Lee Kittrell of Murfreesboro; daughters, Sheila Stima and Barbara Kittrell, both of Hohenwald, Bettie Brackeen of Summertown and Linda Howard of Beaverton, Ala.; sisters, Odie Wood of Solugent, Ala. and Gray Nelson of Armory, Miss.
Ellen Irene Clayton Marston
Ellen Irene Clayton Marston, 93, died Monday July 12, 2004, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home with burial in Mimosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Jim Clayton and Miller Moore Clayton. She was a homemaker and member of First Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Marston.
Survivors include daughters, Kathryn Lewis of Christiana and Doris Alexander of Franklin; a son, Ron Marston of Franklin; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Ronald Edward 'Ronnie' Lovell
Mr. Ronald Edward "Ronnie" Lovell, 54, retired president of Lovell Masonry, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at his residence on Brighton Court.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Raymond Edward Lovell and Anna Lou Russell Lovell. He was a former member of the Columbia Rotary Club, a former president of Masonry Contractors Association of America and a member of Bricklayers Union Local #5. He attended the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Duvall Lovell of Columbia; one daughter, Heather (Kevin) Owen of Columbia; two sons, Ronald David (Becky) Lovell and Steven Ray (Linda) Lovell both of Culleoka; one sister, Debbie (Dennis) Dungy of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Lovell, Amber Rae Lovell, Allison Carol Clark, McKenly Caden Owen, Kannon Edward Owen, Mason David Lovell and Carson Ray Lovell.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Ray Lovell.

Artie Mae Brown Kennedy Scruggs
Mrs. Artie Mae Brown Kennedy Scruggs, 90, a resident of Summer Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Scruggs will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Will and Mary Alice Lindsey Brown. She was the widow of Woodrow Scruggs and was formerly married to Ernest "Toot" Kennedy and Fed Lovell. She was a former owner and operator of the Rebel Truck Stop in Mt. Pleasant and a homemaker. Mrs. Scruggs loved playing bingo, quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Ruby Scott of Gallatin, Ann (Rae) Gunter of Lafayette, Mary (Libbie) Gray of Mt. Pleasant, Jeanne (J.W.) Johnson of Lewisburg, Donnie (Norman) Faught of Parsons, William (Kay) Kennedy of McHenry, Md., Jerry W. (Ellen) Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant; four sisters, Alice Staggs of Columbia, Ruth Finley, Rachel Scott, and Mildred (Henry) Davis all of Nashville; two brothers, Lester Brown of Mt. Pleasant and Joe (Dot) Brown of Columbia; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Brown, Charlie Brown and Richard Brown; two granddaughters, Janet D. Kennedy and Yvonne Yamasita; one great-great-grandson, Tristan Heatherly.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. Gaylon Harris, all of her sons-in-law, and men of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
Betty Mae McKennon Pugh
Mrs. Betty Mae McKennon Pugh, 74, formerly of the Sandy Hook Community and a resident of Alpine Drive in Columbia, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pugh will be conducted, Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Reverend Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Cecil and Edith Kennedy McKennon. She was the widow of Powell OíNeal Pugh. She was a former employee of Tennessee Knitting Mill and a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.
She is survived by children, Angela Pugh Easley of Columbia, Gary Pugh of Mt. Pleasan, Joel Pugh of Hohenwald, Timmy (Sandra) Pugh of Mt. Pleasant, and Kevin (Carla) Pugh of Columbia; three sisters, Nita Bridges of Columbia, Wilma Jones of Pulaski, and Nell Glass of Madison; a brother, Joe Morris "Bobby" McKennon of Mt. Pleasant; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Mangrum and Margaret Hanvy; one brother, Cecil McKennon.
Pallbearers will be Terry Hanvy, Frankie Hanvy, Joe McKennon, Mark Browning, Chad Pugh, Brad Pugh, Wayne Hanvy, Chris Glass, and Mike Bridges.
Raymond Moore Clark
Raymond Moore Clark, 68, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at his residence in Yell Community.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at London Funeral Home with burial in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be until the funeral hour Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Willowbrook Hospice or the charity of your choice.
He was the son of the late Lee Sr. and Alta Mae Victory Clark. He was employed in the construction business.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Burgett Clark of the Yell Community; sons, Benny Clark and Randy Clark, both of Lewisburg; sisters, Geneva Stegall of Lewisburg, Marietta London of Columbia and Edna Clark of Nashville; and three grandchildren.
Zendel Wayne Turpin
Zendel Wayne Turpin, 43, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, in NHC (Merihil) Healthcare.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at London Funeral Home. Cremation will follow with burial of the cremains at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and until the funeral hour Thursday at the funeral home.
He was the son of J.B. and Betty Nall Turpin of Lewisburg. He was a member of Theata Baptist Church and a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include daughters, Misty Rene Turpin and Candace Nicole Turpin, both of Belfast; a sister, Joyce Horton of Shelbyville; and two brothers, Ronald Turpin and Marvin Ray Turpin, both of Lewisburg.
