Birdie Louise Tatum, 82, of Lyles, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2004, at NHC of Dickson.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Plunkett Cemetery in Centerville.
She was the wife of the late Omar Tatum. She was the daughter of the late Fannie Bell Armstong and Lemmie Lea Lawson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Lawson and sister, Lillian Deere.
Survivors include her aunts, Allene Armstrong of Dickson and Irene Gidcomb of Denver.
Avis B. Hood
Avis B. Hood, 96, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church with Wayne Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens.
She was a retired school teacher and the wife of the late Stanley S. Hood. She was the daughter of Walter and Nora Valentine Baxter. She was a member of Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanne Meisse of Mansfield, Ohio and Joanne Gray of Daphne, Ala.; a brother, James Baxter of Franklin; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Flossie Mai Walls
Flossie Mai Walls, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Jay Baybee officiating. Burial will be in the Little Rock Cemetery in Lyles.
She was a retired nurses aide at Centerville Health Care. She was the daughter of the late Carrie Primm Cotham and James Corbitt Ferguson.
Survivors include his sons, Anthony Booker of Crete, Ill. and Frederick Walls, Jr. of Nunnelly; daughters, Wanda Graham of Centerville, Bridgette Walls of Nunnelly, Robin Rochelle of Hohenwald; sister, Frances Witherspoon of Centerville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Clyde Ellis Keeton
Clyde Ellis Keeton, 66, of Leoma, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Paul Thompson officiating. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Internment will be in the Ethridge Masonic Cemetery.
He was retired from Kroger Company. He was the husband of Lura Jenkins Keeton. He was the son of the late Andrew J. and Orma Mae White Keeton. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife, include a son, Steve Keeton of Ethridge; a daughter, Brenda Perry of Summertown; three step-sons, Johnny Webb and Tim Webb, both of Lawrenceburg; and Jeff Webb of Leoma; brothers, Floyd Keeton of Florence, Ala., Artis Keeton of Pulaski, Archie Keeton and Danny Keeton, both of Ethridge; Charles Keeton and Roy Keeton, both of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Vera Mae Judkins and Linda Staggs, both of Ethridge; five grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
Macel Woodward
Mrs. Macel Jean Harvey Woodward, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at her residence on 7th Avenue.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer and the Rev. Arthur Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Harvey and Martha Sue Ragan Harvey. She was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Woodward retired after 28 years of combined service with Bel-Air Nursing Home and Life Care Center. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Herman L. "Pete" Woodward of Columbia; daughter, Cheryl Carpenter of Spring Hill; son, Terry Woodward of Hendersonville; brother, Douglas (Inez) Harvey of Spring Hill; two sisters, Ina Vaughn of Columbia, Marie (George) Williams of Nashville; four grandchildren, Michelle Woodward and Brandon Woodward both of Millersville, Chris Carpenter and Shon Carpenter both of Spring Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Carpenter, Shon Carpenter, Wayne Harvey, Andy Harvey, Jeff Harvey, O.G. Church, Larry Jones and Ricky Caruthers. George Ron Bassham
George Ronald Bassham, 61, of Lavina, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev. Mike Phelps and the Rev. Richard Bragg officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
The former Mt. Pleasant resident was a retired employee for Ford Motor Company. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late Thelma Thomason and W.H. Bassham. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Jean Bassham.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bassham; sons, David Lentz of Columbia and Master Sgt. Ronald Bassham Jr. of Germany.; daughters, Hope Cullington and Ronnie Britt, both of Lavinia, Denise Bassham of Nashville and Sandra Woodard of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Darrell Bassham of Mt. Pleasant and Mark Bassham of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Beverly Kirk and Evangeline Bassham, both of Mt. Pleasant, Cynthia Kay Bassham and Loreli Pierce, both of Nashville; and ten grandchildren.
Sherlynn Sparkman Keller
Sherlynn Sparkman "Sherrie" Keller, 54, formerly of Germantown and a resident of Columbia, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
A memorial service for Mrs. Keller will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Zion Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Arch Warren officiating. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
The Poplar Bluff, Mo. native was the daughter of William and Neva Sparkman of Poplar Bluff and wife of Wally Keller of Columbia. She attended Union University in Jackson where she was a member of Chi Omega. She was a homemaker and formerly an administrative assistant, most recently for FedEx in Memphis. She attended Zion Presbyterian Church and was previously a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Germantown, where she sang in the choir.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two daughters, Amanda Keller Williams and husband Chas of Memphis and Sarah Keller of Columbia; a son, Hank Keller of Memphis; a grandson, Charlie Williams of Memphis; sister-in-law and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bain of Mt. Pleasant; mother-in-law, Merle Keller of Columbia.

Mrs. Mary Vivian Tomlin, wife of Joe E. (Bicycle Joe) Tomlin and a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tomlin are incomplete and will be announced later by the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia.
Wanda F. Wyatt
Wanda F. Wyatt, 75, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, at Heritage Manor Health Care Center of Columbia in Columbia.
Services will be conducted at noon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 291 Wayne Street, with the Rev. Alvin Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home, 1408 Columbia Avenue in Franklin and from 9:30 a.m.- noon Saturday. Internment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery in Theta.
She worked for Johnson Clinic and was retired from Lasko Metal Company in Franklin. She was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia.
Survivors include her daughter, Annie Ruth Hawkins; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Hazel Irene Burns Merritts, 72, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at E.C.M. Hospital in Florence, Ala.
Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Neal Funeral Home with Mickey Brackin officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kidd Cemetery.
She was retired from the civil service at the Pentagon. She was the daughter of the late Alice Irene Kirk Burns and Oscar Burns. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Merritts; sons, Ellis Pullen, Jr. of Stafford, Vir.; daughters, Anita Comba of Columbia, S.C. and Elizabeth Merritts Marvin of Slidell, La.; brothers, Paul Burns of Summertown and Jmaes Burns of Ethridge; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Fred M. Swann
Mr. Fred M. Swann, 68, husband of Dorothy Swann, retired from L & N Railroad and a resident of N. James Campbell Blvd., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at his residence.

Mrs. Nora Mae Ferguson Tipton, 63, former assistant chef at Graymere Country Club and resident of Denise Drive, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Ted Burleson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Frank Ferguson and Clara Pauline Matthews Ferguson. She was a member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Gail Littlejohn of Columbia and Paula Renee (Dean) Colson of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Machelle Kessler, Angela Batts, Christy Littlejohn, Kendall Gowan, Brandon Gowan, Amanda Dugger, Chad Fagan, Zack Fagan, Kaylee Colson and Johnathan Colson; five great-grandchildren, Anthony Kessler, Andrew Kessler, Kayla Harris, Keelan Littlejohn and Lashaun Marlow; two sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Parrish of Nashville and Pam (Bill) Mills of Columbia; and a brother, William Fegurson of Augusta, Ga. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathrene Ferguson.

SUMMERTOWN - Lindell Vernon Allen, 55, of Summertown, died Friday July 30, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whispering Hills Free Church of God with Marvin Potts and Odell Spears officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Sunday and all day Monday at Whispering Hills Free Church of God.
Burial will be in Barnesville Cemetery in Lawrence County.
He was the son of the late James A. and Mary Lee Reeves Allen.
He was a former employee of Murray Inc. and a member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Lynn Allen; and a brother, Frankie Allen.
Survivors include a son, Michael E. Allen of Summertown; a daughter, Tammy Robinson of Christiana; a brother, Larry Allen of Hohenwald; sisters, Lynne Boehlen of Chicago, Ill., and Joyce A. Copeland, Shirley Bearden and Brenda Fitzgerald, all of Summertown; friend, Arbrie Irelan; and six grandchildren.
