Steven Owen Bailey, 45, resident of Amber Lynn Circle, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
According to Steven's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The Maury County native was the son of the late Willard Gregory Bailey and Annie Walker Allen Bailey. He was a 1978 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned his Associates Degree in Interior Design in Huntsville, Ala. The former resident of Athens, Alabama was an inspired artist and former interior designer for Trees & Trends in Huntsville, Ala. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include longtime friend, John Chambers of Columbia; four sisters, Ina R. Fitzgerald, Mary F. (Frank) James, Gladys E. Fox, and Carolyn A. Fleming, all of Columbia; two brothers, Ernest Allen Bailey of Atlanta, Georgia; James Mark Bailey of Mobile, Alabama; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Gregory Bailey, Jr.

Mrs. Riley D. Broadwell
Mrs. Sammy Lane Wilkins Broadwell, 89, long-time resident of Riverside Drive, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at NHC of Columbia.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Hughes and the Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors and after noon Wednesday in the church atrium.

A native of Only, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Carl Bate Wilkins and Eunice Mable Murphree Wilkins. She was a 1933 graduate of Columbia Central High School and 1934 graduate of Fall's Business College in Nashville.
A member of First United Methodist Church since 1923, Mrs. Broadwell taught Sunday School for 40 years, was a member of the Ayers-Whitney Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She served as leader of Girl Scout Troop 85 for 11 years and was employed by the Tennessee Farm Bureau for 14 years.
She was married Aug. 15, 1942, to Riley Denny Broadwell who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Cherry Lane B. Darken and son-in-law, E.R. "Woody" Darken of the Leiper's Fork Community; step-grandsons, Brett (Annie) Darken and Eric (Anne) Darken, both of Nashville; step-great-granddaughter, Jane Anne Darken of Nashville; brother-in-law, Homer Broadwell of Riverside, Ala.; and sisters-in-law, Sadie Thomas, Zona (Mrs. L. P.) Thomas and Kathleen (Mrs. James) Cox, all of Boaz, Ala.
Active pallbearers are Brett Darken, Eric Darken, Mike Smith, Bob Ary, Dr. David Williams and Neal Blair. Honorary pallbearers include Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dalton and members of the Ayers-Whitney Sunday School Class.
Linda Dugger
Linda Joyce Hendrickson Dugger, 61, sales associate with J.C. Penney at Shadybrook Mall and resident of Davis Avenue, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Russell Hendrickson and Gertrude McCandless Moore Storey. She was a 1961 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a 29 year employee of Weather-Tamer/Winning Moves.
Survivors include four children, Sheryl Dugger (Raleigh) Holtam of Fairview, Hayden Scott (Tina) Vandiver and Melissa Vandiver Watson, both of Columbia, and Chuck (Barbara) Franklin Jr. of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Wayne (Kitty) Overton of Madison; three grandchildren, Aletta (Junior Alarcon) Watson of Columbia, Heather Chunn of Franklin and Charity Franklin of Abilene, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Shae Barthel and Benji Barthel, both of Hinesville, Ga., and Aaron Watson, Nikita Alarcon, Joseph Alarcon and Chris Alarcon, all of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Wayne "Chris" Franklin.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Jacoby, Michael Jacoby, Troy Jacoby, Jamie Kennedy, Billy Pruitt and Ardiss Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of J.C. Penney and CHS Class of 1961.
Donald Jay Conley
SPRING HILL - Mr. Donald Jay Conley, 77, a resident of Kedron Parkway in Spring Hill, passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
A memorial service for Mr. Conley will be conducted at the Campbell Dean Funeral Home in Canastota, N.Y., at 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment
will follow in the Lenox Rural Cemetery in Canastota, N.Y. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Campbell Dean Funeral Home.

Born in Jewel, N.Y., he was the son of the late Thomas and Daisy Candee Conley and husband of Elizabeth Conley. He was a retired refrigeration welder with the Carrier Corporation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Susan Conley, Jr. of Thompson Station; two sisters, Joyce Case of Sherrill, N.Y., and Mary McCormick of Oneida, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Conley and Charles Conley.
Marjorie J. Sweigert
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Marjorie J. Sweigert, 93, of Sheridan, Wyo., and mother of a Columbia resident, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Sheridan Manor.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Champion Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sweigert was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Park Ridge, Ill., to Charles William and Alyce E. (Snyder) Potter. She grew up and attended schools in Park Ridge and graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago in 1928.
Mrs. Sweigert married Clarence James Sweigert in Illinois in 1930, and she spent her lifetime in Illinois, working as a business woman for the Chicago Board of Education, Theater Arts Magazine, and the Northbrook Weekly Magazine in Northbrook, Ill. She was a member of the A.A.R.P. and the Catholic Church.
Mrs. Sweigert enjoyed sewing, handcrafts, art and very accomplished at crocheting which was displayed at Sheridan Manor. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Sweigert was preceded in death by two sisters, in addition to her parents and husband.
Survivors include her son, Robert James (Rosemary) Sweigert of Columbia; a daughter, Marilyn C. (Kenneth) Fischer of Sheridan, Wyo.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Louise Sharpe Alexander
Mrs. Susie Dora Louise Sharpe Alexander, 83, formerly of the Enterprise Community and a resident of Academy Drive in Columbia, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at NHC Hillview Health Care.
A graveside service will be conducted for Mrs. Alexander at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Glen Alexander officiating. Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Blythe and Ida Sharpe. She was the widow of Thomas Wilson Alexander Jr., who died in 1994.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Alexander was retired from Dixie Manufacturing where she worked as a seamstress.
She was a member of the Spring Hill Church of Christ
Mrs. Alexander is survived by her son, William Alexander of Summertown; her grandson, Thomas Andrew Alexander of Knoxville; and a niece, Debbie (Jerry) Slaughter of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jimmy Sharpe and Alfred Sharpe; and a sister, Ann Stevens.
Joanne Hanson
Mrs. Joanne Goad Hanson, 65, resident of Thomas Avenue, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Vanderbilt Hospital.

The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Josh Goad and Juanita Edmiston Goad. She attended Jones High School in Lynnville and Central High School in Columbia.
She was employed by Storktowne/Weather Tamer and Edric/Publix Shirt Plant and operated several second hand stores in Columbia. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Hanson of Columbia; three children, Brenda Boshers of St. Joseph, Donna (Richard) Tinsley of Columbia and Wayne (Linda) Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant; four step-children, Kevin Hanson of Culleoka, Mrs. Leslie K. Boshers of Columbia, Phillip Hanson of Spring Hill and Jason Hanson of Dickson; one sister, Mrs. Louise (Bill) Chaffin of Columbia; three grandchildren, Dewaena Lee, Amanda Joanne McKennon and Jessica Nicole Boshers; one great-grandchild, Joshua Alvin Lee; nine step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jennifer Michelle Boshers.

James Calahan
LEWISBURG - James Marvin Calahan, 78, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at London Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery.
The Bedford County native was retired from Lewisburg Casting Co., Faber-Castell and Bi-Lo Foods. He was a member of the Berea Church of Christ. He was the son of the late Ruffus Lee and Clara Gentry Calahan.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Morton Calahan of Lewisburg; a son, Steve Calahan of Lewisburg; and two grandchildren.
Myron 'Beau' Poag Jr.
LEOMA - Myron Harry "Beau" Poag Jr., 22, of Leoma, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Crockett Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home with Greg Lee and Roger Peters officiating.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Spann Cemetery.
The Lawrenceburg native was the son of Deborah Torgerson Poag West and the late Myron Harry Poag Sr.
Survivors in addition to his mother include sisters, Theresa Lynn Shaw of Johnson City, Heather Lee Garland of Leoma and Charity Michelle Sajovic of Ethridge; maternal grandparents, William B. Edwards, Frank Stone and Hazel Torgerson; and paternal grandparents, Ernest My and Frances Elizabeth Poag.

HERMITAGE - Ben Thomas Love, 78, of Hermitage, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home with Randy Forrest officiating. Burial will be in the McClanahan Cemetery.
He was a retired building contractor MSGT in the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Jane Love. He was the son of the late Shannon Love and Belle Love.
Survivors include daughters, Debra Dennis of Hendersonville, Tamara Montgomery of Georgia and Sherrill Boulton of LaVergne; a sister, Martha Patterson of Hendersonville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

HOHENWALD - Agnes Josephine Roder, 60, of Hohenwald, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Elvis Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Hinson Cemetery at Linden.
She was employed at CNA/Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth John and Callie Hinson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth John Hinson and her second husband, C.V. Roder.
Survivors include sons, Johnny Hinson and Jeff Edwards, both of Hohenwald; a daughter, Kay Barnes of Hohenwald; a stepson, Bruce Roder of Newton, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Michelle Lindquist of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, James Hinson of Hohenwald; sisters, Myrtle Williams of Hohenwald, Edna Breece of Centerville and Louise Lyles of Waynesboro; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Marie Hittson
LEWISBURG - Dorothy Marie Hittson, 76, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

The Giles County native was a nurse and the wife of the late Clifton Hittson. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Vera Carvell Cross.
Survivors include daughters, Juanita Garrett, Patricia Williams, Barbara Bell, Jenette McMillion and Delores Ann Boyd; and sons, Bernie Darnell, William Barron and Raymond Barron.
Guy Rogers
Guy Rogers, 83, of Pulaski, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The Minor Hill native was the retired owner of Rogers Furniture. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the son of the late Edward and Grace Glover Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Rogers of Pulaski; sons, Stephen Rogers of Knoxville, Barry Rogers of Pulaski; and a sister, Louise Childers of Minor Hill.
