Erma Riggins

Erma Gertrude Newell Riggins, 75, of Summertown, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Neal Funeral Home with Tommy Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Barnesville Cemetery.

She was a homemaker and the wife of the late Thomas Riggins. She was a member of Barnesville Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Roda Cagle and William A. Newell.

Survivors include her sons, Barry Rone and Dwight Rone, both of Summertown; a daughter, Teresa Ayers of Summertown; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Howard Wallace Sr.

Howard Wallace Sr., 81, of Pulaski, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Countryside Healthcare Center in Lawrenceburg.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John U.M. Church Lawrenceburg with the Rev. Annie Grace Romond officiating. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Queen Ann Funeral Home in Pulaski. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

He was the son of the late Tom and Lela Mayberry Wallace. He was the husband of Bessie Gardner Wallace. He was a member of the St. John U.M. Church, the American Legion Post 21 Elks Lodge 1489 of Pulaski.

Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Howard Wallace Jr., Charles Wallace, William Wallace and James Wallace; daughters, Shirley Wallace Dennis, Shirley Robins, Ramona Moore; three step-daughters, 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Martha Yarborough

Martha Helen Yarborough, 74, of Centerville, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Hickman Community Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home with Bill McDonald officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Stuart Cemetery in Dickson.

She was the daughter of the late Vestie Cakle and Henry L. Hearn. She was a homemaker and wife of James "Jim" Yarborough.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her sons, David Smith of Clarksville and Charles Smith of Birmingham, Ala.; daughters, Sherry Broadfoot of Memphis and Vicky Holmes of Collierville; brothers, Charles Hearn of Stockbridge, Ga. and Dean Hearn of Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Mildred Spencer of Franklin; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joshua Lindsay Bailey

Joshua Lindsay Bailey, 23, resident of Hampshire Pike, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004, in Chattanooga as the result of an automobile accident.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with Father Thomas Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery in the Cross Bridges Community with military honors provided by Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends from 57 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and from 1011 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Josh was a 1999 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a Senior majoring in History Education at University of Tennessee Chattanooga where he was also a member of the 48th Class of Officer Candidate School. Josh was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Mortar Board, an Academic Honor Society. He was a former member of Boy Scout Troop 114, where his Eagle Scout project led to national awareness of learning disabilities. He introduced President Bill Clinton at the signing of Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the Rose Garden at the White House. Josh was attached to the Tennessee National Guard 269th MP Company in Murfreesboro and had served in Baghdad for 11 months with Iraqi Freedom. He enjoyed being a private pilot. Josh was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his mother, Susan Webster Bailey of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Sarah Webster Bailey of Mt. Pleasant; father, Jimmy Ray Bailey of Mt. Juliet; paternal grandmother, Callie E. Hicks of Norris; paternal grandfather, Ernest Bailey of Dayton, Ohio; uncle, Tom (Marilyn) Webster, III, of Columbia; uncle, Tom G. (Melanie) Hicks; aunt, Rebekah (Jay) Chambers; aunt, Starla (Jimmy) Arnold; and cousins, Thomas (Katie) Webster, IV and Jonathan Webster.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Thomas C. Webster, Jr. and Sue Litton Chadwell Webster.

Pallbearers will be SGT Will Holton, SPC Jason Bucklew, SGT Gary Davis, SPC Jimmy Alford, SPC Royce Slaven, SPC Jason Martin, and SPC Shawn Souza. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, members of the TN National Guard 269th MP Company in Murfreesboro, and members of the 48th OCS Class.

Mr. Bernard C. Bradley

Mr. Bernard C. Bradley, 78, a resident of Greensmill Road in Spring Hill, passed away on Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his residence.

Services for Mr. Bradley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with the Rev. Dwight Liles and the Rev. Hank Shelton officiating.

Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard.

The family will visit with friends from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late William Clyde and Alice Hardison Bradley and husband of Ezell Travis Bradley.

He was a retired electrician with Harris Electric in Nashville.

A World War II veteran, he was a member of Post 10 American Legion of Mt. Pleasant and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill.

In addition to his wife, he is survived three sons, Bernard Clinton Bradley of Tampa, Fla., James Roy (Carolyn) Bradley of Spring Hill and Robert Adams of Spring Hill; a half-sister, Doris Bradley of Indiana; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin Bradley, Tom Bradley, Ray Bradley and Bill Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill, members of the VFW, members of the National Rifle Association and Hospice of the Highland Rim.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Drive, Columbia, TN 38401

William Hamsley

PULASKI - William Hamsley, 93, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Hillside Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Carr & Erwin Chapel.

Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was retired from Ardmore Cheese Plant.

Survivors include his wife, Azalea Hamsley of Pulaski; a son, John Hamsley of Georgia; a daughter, Dee Turner of Frankewing; a brother, Robert Hamsley of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

James Allen Love

James Allen Love, 79, resident of Dimple Court, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Polk Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bob Adair officiating. military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native, son of the late Sloan Love and Izettie Young Love, was raised in the Love's Branch Community.

He was married to Dorothy Jean Potts Love, who preceded him in death Oct. 13, 1977. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. Mr. Love was retired from Iron Workers Local 492. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary L. (Barry) Jones of Nashville and Rebecca C. Love (Cham H.) Percer of West Memphis, Ark.; two sisters, Helen McKee and Judy (Tommy) Counts, both of Columbia; one brother, Paul Love of Columbia; and two grandchildren, William Allen Jones and Jennifer Hailey Jones, both of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Love and Marion Love; and one sister, Peggy Mabry.

Pallbearers will be members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the International Iron Workers Union Local 492. Special "thanks" to the medical staff at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville.

Charity Collins Woodard

PULASKI - Charity Collins Woodard, 89, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at National Health Care of Pulaski.

Services were conducted Saturday at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with burial in Giles Memory Garden.

Memorials are suggested to the East Hill Church of Christ Building Fund or the C.W. Hart Scholarship Fund.

She was the daughter of the late John and Eveline Copeland Collins.

She was retired from Lee Mar Shirt Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kuttna Woodard; and a son, Algie Woodard.

Survivors include sons, Eldridge Woodard and Virgil Woodard, both of Pulaski; a daughter, Glaydell Jackson of Minor Hill; a sister, Aretta Attkisson of Ethridge; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Doris S. Smith

EL DORADO, Ark. - Doris S. Smith, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at her residence in El Dorado, Ark.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home in El Dorado, Ark., with the Rev. William Dillon and Dorothy Shirey officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado, Ark.

The Scotts Mill native was the daughter of the late Ollie Floyd Scott and Grace King Scott. She was a homemaker, worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II and was of the Presbyterian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Coy Smith; three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Smith of El Dorado, Ark.; a sister, Sally C. Pugh of Rockwood; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Homer Shults

LAWRENCEBURG - Homer Shults, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Crockett Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel with Oneal Wallace and Donald Goodrum officiating. Interment icon will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday.

He was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Calvary Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler Shults and Hallie Fleeman Shults.

Survivors include daughters, Joy Schmitts of Kokomo, Ind., and Victoria Hanawalt of Logonsport, Ind.; brothers, Bernard Shults, Harry Shults and Wilburn Shults, all of Tennessee, and Harold Shults of Alabama; a sister, Nellie Wells of Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Edward Wall

PULASKI - Edward Wall, 76, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Vanderbilt University Medial Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Carr and Erwin Chapel. Interment icon will be at Giles Memory Gardens.

He was the son of the late John Ed Wall and Laura Jane McCree Wall.

Survivors include a wife, Nela Mae Wall; a son, Keith Wall of Pulaski; daughters, Karen Wood of Smyrna and Kim Harrison of Pulaski; a brother, John Wall of Goodsprings; sisters, Kathleen Helton, Clara Gibson, Thelma Helton and Frances Harwell, all of Pulaski; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Roger Wilson

Mr. Roger Lee Wilson, 48, a resident of Sherry Drive in Columbia, passed away Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

A memorial service for Mr. Wilson will be conducted at a later date. Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lake Station, Ind., he was the son of the late Charles and Alice Hale Wilson and husband of Teresa Hasty Wilson. He was a commercial painter foreman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Matthew Wilson, Travis Wilson, Jessy Wilson and Kassey Wilson, all of Columbia; a stepson, Bradley Hodge of Hohenwald; three sisters, Kathy Sawyer of Lake Station, Ind., Paulette Reed of Portage, Ind., and Brenda Bryant of Kentucky; two brothers, Walt Wilson of Crown Pointe, Ind., and Randy Wilson of Hayden, Ala.
