Mrs. Dorothy Grissom
Mrs. Dorothy Pearl Pierce Grissom, 71, a resident of North Main Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2004 at Life Care Center. Services for Mrs. Grissom will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with David Kersey officiating. Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Bud and Deanie Workman Pierce. She was the widow of James Van Grissom. Mrs. Grissom was a former longtime resident of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and owner and operator of The Lunch Box restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. She was an avid gardener, loved her children and grandchildren and watching golf on television. She is survived by her children, Tina (James) Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Kim (Keith) Burroughs of Columbia and John (Cathy) Luke of Ethridge; three sisters, Estelene (J.D.) Lindsey and Joan Pierce, both of Mt. Pleasant, and Chris Marchincowski of Michigan; her grandchildren, Robert Luke whom she raised of Summertown, Jason Glover, Misti (Phillip) Grooms, Kelly (Danny) Evans, April Brown, Brittany Davis, Dane Luke, Jamie Smith, Jada Luke, Ricky Luke, Summer Luke and Trey Luke; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, John Pierce, Hardy Pierce, Jimmy Pierce and Harlan Pierce. Pallbearers will be Dane Luke, Ricky Brown, Phillip Grooms, Jason Grooms, Butch Pierce and Breck Boyd. Linda Faye Rosson Young
LEOMA - Linda Faye Rosson Young, 56, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Crockett Hospital. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Neal Funeral Home with Wayne Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was the daughter of Betty Rosson of Leoma and the late Odes Rosson. She was a member of Leoma Baptist Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Elks Lodge. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Jimmy Young; daughters, Dawn Garner of Leoma and Tracy Phillips of Pulaski; and five grandchildren.
Vickey Nicholson
Miss Victoria Ann "Vickey" Nicholson , 39, a resident of Highway 166, North in Mt. Pleasant died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Services for Miss Nicholson will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of Tommy and Phyllis Russell Nicholson of Mt. Pleasant. She was a former employee of Video Villa in Mt. Pleasant.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Rodney (Anissa) Nicholson of Mt. Pleasant; two grandmothers, Ruth Nicholson and Katherin Russell England both of Mt. Pleasant; a nephew, Dylan Nicholson of Mt. Pleasant; a niece, MiKayla Nicholson of Mt. Pleasant; three aunts, Faye (Larry) Ballard of Mt. Pleasant, Dianne (James L.) Clark of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Sandra (David) Newton of Alabama; an uncle, Ronnie Russell of Mt. Pleasant; several cousins. She was preceded in death by a two grandfathers, Gilbert Russell and E.T. Nicholson; a step grandfather, John Bumpas England.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Anderson, Paul Crews, David Lovell, Heath McKnight, Mike McKnight, and Tim Beard. Honorary pallbearers will be Gideon Brown, George Gilliam, Billy Hollis, Jerry McKnight, Roland McKnight and Philip Parish.

Robert L. "Bobby" Tomlin
Mr. Robert Leonard "Bobby" Tomlin, 72, retired supervisor for Flav-O-Rich Dairies, died Monday, September 6, 2004 at his residence on Figures Avenue.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rutherford County native was the son of the late Leonard Tomlin and Ella Mae Roland Tomlin. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Tomlin was a member of the Tennessee National Guard from 1949 to 1958.
Survivors include his wife, Peggie Sue Gilbert Tomlin of Columbia; a daughter, Belinda (Jerry) Bell of Columbia; two grandchildren, Todd (Alicia) Bell of Lookout Mountain, Georgia and Jennifer Bell of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Macey Bell and Blaze Bell of Lookout Mountain, Georgia; a brother, Jack McKinley (Lou) Tomlin of Lynchburg; an aunt, Ruby Parker of Murfreesboro; several nieces and nephews.

Sara Oxylene Poarch
Sara Oxylene Poarch, age 66 of Cornersville, died Sunday afternoon in NHC-Columbia.
A native of Marshall County, Ms. Poarch was the daughter of the late John Herman and Sara Mae Clark Oliver, a former restaurant owner, retired dispatcher from the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and a homemaker.
She is survived by 5 brothers: Porter Oliver of Lewisburg, Leon Oliver of Cornersville, Steve Oliver and Walter "Buddy" Oliver both of Lewisburg, and Robert Burgess of Cornersville.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Ostella.
The family will visit with friends on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.
Michael A. 'Mickey' Hartsfield
Michael A. "Mickey" Hartsfield, 31, died Monday, Sept. 6,2004 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Neal Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Lindsey officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Shaw Cemetery.
The Lawrence County native was the son of C.A. Hartsfield and Patty Hartsfield of Lawrenceburg. He was a show cattle manager at Sugar Valley Farms. He was a member of Cloverdale Congregational Methodist Church and American Short Horn Association and a junior advisor for the Tennessee Short Horn Association. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Rev. C. A. Hartsfield Sr.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include wife, Lindsey Hartsfield of Lynnville, brothers, Charlie Hartsfield of Lynnville and Mark Hartsfield of Lawrenceburg; sister, Candace Hartsfield of Lawrenceburg; grandparents, Rudolph and Emma Nola Martin and Gladys Hartsfield, all of Lawrenceburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
Alice Wright Newton
Alice Wright Newton, 75, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at National Health Care of Pulaski.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Carr & Erwin Chapel. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Roy Sumpter and Clara Myrtle Randolph Watts Wright and the wife of the late Clyde Dexter Newton Sr. She was retired from Genesco.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Newton Jr. of Pulaski; a daughter, Judy Harrigan of Pulaski and one granddaughter, Kelly Harrigan of Pulaski.
Nathan Dale Keith
Nathan Dale Keith, 69, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004 at Marshall Medical Center.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Eric Ferris officiating. He will be cremated following the service.
A native of Hanover, Mich. was the son of the late Ira and Martha White Keith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a truck driver for IMSCO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Frizzell Keith.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Perry of Holland, Mich.; a son, Terry Keith of Chapel Hill; brothers, Chuck Keith, Art Keith, Russ Keith and Kenny Keith, all of Michigan; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
William Bill Evans
William Bill Evans, 59, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carr & Erwin Chapel with interment
in Giles Memory Gardens.
The son of Eloise Evans of Pulaski, he was a retired painter and veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife, Brenda Evans of Pulaski; sons, Wesley Evans of Pulaski, Michael David Evans of Nashville and Michael Dean Evans of California; daughters, Heather Evans of Pulaski and Natalie Wolzaniczae of Germany; brothers, Bob Evans of Washington and Jimmy Evans of Ohio; sister, Beverly Eslick of Nashville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Lillian B. Braden
Lillian B. Braden, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel at London Funeral Home with burial in New Hope Cemetery at Talley Station.
A Marshall County native, she was the daughter of Mattie Lou Beard. She retired from teaching after 41 years and was a member of the church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by husband, Hoyte McLain.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest Braden of Lewisburg; a daughter, Alice White of Lewisburg; a son, Bill McLain of Columbia; a stepson, Eddie Braden of Belfast; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Mr. Frank 'June Bug' Matthews, Jr.
Mr. Frank "June Bug" Moore Matthews, Jr., 42, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at his residence on Morningside Lane in Columbia.
Services for Mr. Matthews were conducted Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Maury County native was the son of Mary Sue Sullivan Matthews Mitchell and the late Frank Moore Matthews, Sr. Mr. Matthews was a self-employed carpenter and was of Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Justin Rhodes of Culleoka, TN; a sister, Renee Matthews Bridges of Columbia, TN; a half sister, Beth Matthews of Columbia, TN; a nephew, Christopher Bridges of Columbia, TN; two uncles, Robert Sullivan and Johnnie Sullivan both of Columbia; three aunts, Faye (J.C.) Gray and Peggy Sullivan both of Columbia, TN, Dot (Harold) Glover of Pulaski, TN; special friend, Phyllis Vick of Columbia, TN.

Mrs. Kittie Fly
Mrs. Catherine Ann "Kittie" Burns Fly, RN, 51, wife of Claude Fly and a resident of the Williamsport Pike in the Sawdust Community, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
A memorial service for Mrs. Fly will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Williamsport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Smith and the Rev. Larry McGranahan officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Williams Funeral Home Columbia.
The Red Springs, N.C., native was the daughter of Madeline Odom Burns Love and the late Halbert L. Burns of Red Springs, N.C. She was a graduate of Red Springs High School.
She started her nursing career as a Candy Striper then became an LPN.
She received her A.S. degree in Nursing from Columbia State Community College. She served as director of nursing for several nursing homes in Columbia and Southfield, Mich., and was charge nurse for First Floor West at Maury Regional Hospital.
She also was involved in Home Health Care and was affiliated with several local physicians. She was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Sarah Katherine Fly of the Sawdust Community; a son, Nathan Franklin Fly of the Sawdust Community; a sister, Mary Norton of Canton, N.C.; her mother-in-law, Ruth Fly of the Sawdust Community; three brothers-in-law, Frank M. (Suzanne) Fly of Murfreesboro, J. Mark (Kathleen) Fly of Norris and Joe L. Fly of the Sawdust Community; a daughter, Pat Fly of Dallas, Texas; a son, Randy (Donna) Fly of Algood; and a brother, Halbert (Denise) Burns of Shelby, N.C.

Marianne Kelley
Marianne Kelley, a resident of Holiday Island, Ark., and former Columbia resident, departed this life Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the age of 76.
Marianne was born April 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Oliver Whitfield and Clara (Martin) Smith. She was a school teacher and a member of the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her son, Randolph Whitfield Kelley of Houston, Texas; a daughter, the Rev. Clare Kelley of Holiday Island, Ark.; two grandchildren, David Oliver Steadham of Fort Smith, Ark., and Randolph Whitfield Kelley Jr. of Houston, Texas; a great-grandson, Lucien Avery Steadham of Fort Smith, Ark.; a granddaughter-in-law, Heather Steadham of Fort Smith, Ark.; and other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gail Perkins officiating. Interment
will be in the Wetumpka Cemetery in Wetumpka, Ala.

Mrs. Irvie Young Hardison
Mrs. Irvie Lou Andrews Young Hardison, 104, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at her residence on North Hardin Drive in Columbia.
Services for Mrs. Hardison will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Jerry Elder officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ben Andrews Sr. and Emma Lee Hardison Andrews. Mrs. Hardison was first married to Willie Porter Young who died in 1975 and was later married to Lester Hardison who died in 1987. She was a homemaker and a member of the West Seventh Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hardison is survived by her grandchildren, Peggy (John) McCoy of Jackson, James "Jim" Allen (Patsy) Young of Columbia, Rosemary (Eddie) King of Columbia and Patsy (Dave) Coleman of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Shawn (Karen) Bryan of Baltimore, Md., William Jennings (Virgie) of Yellow Stone National Park and Sarah Lee Young of Columbia; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. James Porter Young Bacon of Columbia.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mrs. Linda (David) Gillenwater; five sisters, Edna Mae Langley, Miss Edwin Green, Mattie McMeen, Mamie Rawlins and Violet Sue Andrews; two brothers, Ben Andrews Jr. and Bill Andrews; and four children, Willy Porter Young Jr., James Porter Young, Mrs. Irene Henry Dawson and Charles Allen Young.
Pallbearers will be Harold Hutcherson, Buddy Andrews, Buddy Moore, Jimmy Wright, Wayne Holliday, Jerry Renfro and Paul Fay.
