Thomas West Dodson
Thomas West Dodson, 82, Maury County native, died October 11, 2003, in Atlanta, Michigan, where he had made his home for several years.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Knob Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Harvel Stockard officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born May 27, 1921 in the Knob Creek Community, Mr. Dodson was the son of Smith A. and Clara Goad Dodson. He attended Cumberland University at Lebanon after graduating from Columbia Central High School. He earned a BS in Education and a MS in School Administration from the University of Michigan. He entered the military service in April 1942 and received his Pilot's Wings and 2nd Lt. commission in the Army Air Corps in May 1943.
Many of his adult years were spent in the U.S. Air Force and the Reserves serving in the Troop Carrier Command, the Korean and Cuban Campaigns as an Instructor Pilot, and with the 439th Fighter Bomber Wing, he served as Operations Officer and Squadron Commander, respectively. He also served as the military Operations Officer at Chicago's O'Hare Field providing logistics for Presidents Nixon, Kennedy, and Johnson. Before Lt. Colonel Dodson retired from military service in 1971, he flew several missions with the 442 MAC Wing delivering supplies to U.S. forces in Viet Nam.
During the years following World War II, Mr. Dodson taught school in Michigan. He flew as one of the Corporate Pilots for General Motors before taking the position of Director of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation with the Pontiac Public Schools. The last fifteen years of employment were with the U. S. Government as Employee Relations Specialist/Labor Relations in GSA and Director of Personnel in HEW/HHS in Region 5 covering six states. He was a member of the Onaway, Michigan United Methodist Church and Canada Creek Ranch, where he was active on several committees.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Jennings Dodson of Atlanta, Michigan; four sons, Larry Wittkopf of Britton, Michigan; Thomas (Susan) Dodson, II of Barrington, Illinois; David (Janet) Dodson of Cedar Grove, Wisconsin; Darryll (Carol) Dodson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one daughter, Debra Dodson of Brown Deer Wisconsin; one sister, Mary Nelson of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Pickell; and brother, Smith A. Dodson.
James 'Pete' Crawford
James "Pete" Crawford, 65, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship M.B. Church with Eldle Glen Beard III officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Chapel.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Baxter Brothers Funeral Home.
He was the son of Louise Howard Crawford and the late Murphy Crawford. He coached Pop Warner Football for more than 28 years, and he was employed at Maury Regional Hospital for 34 years.
Survivors include a son, James Bailey; daughters, Yvette Sweeney, Felicia Paulson, Jeris Crawford and Keisha Crawford, all of Columbia; a brother, Murphy Crawford of Columbia; sisters, Alice Cooper, Susie Whittaker, Betty Baxter, China Crawford and Nancy Johnson, all of Columbia; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cecil Taylor Andrews
Cecil Taylor Andrews, 86, consultant, former plant manager for Columbia Rock Products and resident of North Laurel Circle, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Smith and Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Arch Edgar Andrews and Edna Pearl Hardison Andrews. Mr. Andrews served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Ruth McMeen Andrews of Columbia; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn (Larry) Haynes of Murfreesboro; Mrs. Priscilla (Fred) Enters of Ashland City; Mrs. Cecilia (Tommy) Franklin of Goodlettsville; five grandchildren, Russ Haynes, Curt Haynes, Andrew Franklin, Amanda Enters, and Tracy Mooney; one great grandchild, Caroline Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Lura Mae Cummins.
Active pallbearers will be Douglas Jones, Bobby Jones, Jim Young, Mike McMeen, Russ Haynes, Curt Haynes, Lynn Harding, Laran Philpott, B. J. Cline, and Cyle Patty. Mary McDaniel
Mary Brown McDaniel, 76, of Columbia, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Rosewood Manor.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bellafant Tabernacle with Elder Claude Bellafant officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
She was the daughter of Willie F. Lockridge and Luzander Haddox Lockridge. She was a member of Bellafant Tabernacle.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Herman McDaniels of Columbia; sons, Howard Brown and Fred Brown, both of Nashville, Earl Wayne Brown of Shelbyville and George Lipscomb of Columbia; daughters, Dorothy Wilkes, Mary Russell, Beatrice Baugh and Mary Smith, all of Columbia, Brianna and Nesha McDaniels, both of Nashville; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Johnnie B. Oliver
Mr. Johnnie B. Oliver, 80, a resident of Riverside Drive in Columbia, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Oliver will be conducted Thursday, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Elmer Lusk, Joe Macer, Brad Goodwin and Joseph Wells officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the son of the late Morgan and Alice Foster Oliver. He was the husband of Eunice Crigger Oliver. He retired from the Columbia Fire Department of thirty five years. He was with the Maury Rural Fire and Rescue and served as Assistant Director. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 169th Infantry Division and in Germany as a messenger for different platoons. He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and VFW Post # 4969. He was an avid gardner and loved helping people. He was a member of the East Side Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Belinda (Larry) Goodwin of Manchester, TN, and Sandra Kay (Freddie) Rich of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Michael Oliver and Crysta Oliver, both of Reno, Nev., Richard (Kelley) Goodwin and Brad (Jennifer) Goodwin, both of Manchester, Angie (Lee) Martin of Tullahoma, Ricky (Jamie) Rich of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melanie (Joey) Estes, Audrey Rich, Stephanie Pilkington and Hillary Jones, all of Columbia; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, John William Oliver and a daughter, Jane Oliver Jones; a sister, Lucille Oliver and five brothers, J.P., Bill, James, Cleve and Willard Oliver.
Pallbearers will be the Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Eastside Church of Christ, Members and former members of the Columbia Fire Department, members of Maury 911and the members of Maury Regional EMS.

Bessie Key
LAWRENCEBURG - Bessie Key, 86, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Hoopston Community Hospital in Hoopston, Ill.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with Thomas Mattox officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. at Wednesday at Neal Funeral Home.
She was the daughter of the late George Washington Key and Effie Miller Key. She was a homemaker and member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Davis of Hoopston, Ill., Bertha Mae Baggett of Nashville and Audrey Lee Collins of Memphis.
Cecil Allen Dugger
PULASKI - Cecil Allen Dugger, 79, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at NHC of Pulaski.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bennett-May Funeral Home with Linda Tidrow officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Cletus and Rena Harwell Dugger. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Dugger.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Hill Dugger.
Orlin Gail Littrell
PULASKI - Orlin Gail Littrell, 64, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the Countryside Healthcare and Rehab in Lawrenceburg.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with burial in Bee Spring Cemetery. Visitation will b e from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Charlene Perry Weeks. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Weeks of Pulaski and Bucky Littrell of Lewisburg; a brother, Tom Weeks of Sulligent, Ala.; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Alex Harwell Jr.
PULASKI - Alex Harwell Jr., 48, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at his home in Franklin.
Services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Thursday at Richland Creek Missionary Baptist Association's Central Building on Bledsoe Road with the rev. Pam Miller officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Queen Ann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was the son of Alex and Clara Simmons Harwell. He was a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer for 25 years.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his son Alex Harwell III; sister, Claree H. Givens; and a brother, Barry Earl Harwell.
Rufus Morgan Kelley
Rufus Morgan "R.M." Kelley, 81, farmer and resident of Baker Road, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Dean Kelley and Dixie Anderson Kelley. He was a member of Central Christian Church. On December 18, 1943 he married Dorothy C. Barham Kelley who survives him.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Dale Morgan (Janie) Kelley and John Travis (Amy) Kelley, Sr. both of Columbia; two sisters, Louise Fite and Betty (Billy) Mash both of Columbia; one brother, Bud Kelley of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Dana Dean, Sandie Whitaker, Torey (Cammey) Kelley, Amanda (Kevin) Ingram, Jason (Jennifer) Kelley, Katie Kelley, John Kelley Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers.
Pallbearers will be John Kelley, Torey Kelley, Keith Baker, Andy Anderson, Mike Anderson, Teddy Anderson, Ron Kelley and Willie Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be residents of Three Oaks Village Mobile Home Park, nurses and staff of Columbia Care and Rehab Center, Nurses on 3rd Floor North, dialysis, and CCU at Maury Regional Hospital.
Bernice Arvil Toy
CENTERVILLE - Bernice Arvil Toy, 80, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at his residence in Lyles.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville. Burial will be in Harpeth Hills Cemetery in Nashville.
He was the son of the late Lawrence Harvey Toy and Cofie Mae Russell. He was a foreman with AVCO. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Toy.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Mai Toy of Lyles; two sons, Jerry Ray Toy and Barry Lee Toy, both of Lyles; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great- grandchild.
Maggie Sue Lee
Maggie Sue Lee, 81, of Lewisburg, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at Marshall Medical Center.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at London Funeral Home. Visitation will be until the funeral hour Wednesday. Burial will be in Haynes Cemetery.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Newton Harrison and Ada Lou McCord Moore. She was retired from Westinghouse Corp. and was a member of Church Street Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie Mai Moore Matthews and Lula Moore Martin; brothers and Jessie Moore and Vestal Moore.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Samuel Ed Lee of Lewisburg; daughter, Vickie Kay Hill of Tullahoma; son, Eddie Ray Lee of Sylva, N.C.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Martha Prince Lee
Mrs. Martha Prince Lee, wife of Tillman E. Lee and a resident of Sunnyside Drive in Columbia, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Life Care Center.
A memorial service for Mrs. Lee will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ronald C. Brown and the Rev. Thomas S. Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday in the church fellowship hall. The Tracy City, Tenn. native was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Holland Prince. She was a homemaker and avid bridge player. Being a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia, she was tour director for the Young at Heart.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mark Lee of Columbia and Eric (Kay Kay) Lee of Nashville; three grandchildren, Ann Holland of Nashville, Margaret Erin Lee and Mark Alexander Hill both of Columbia.
