SANTA FE - Sarah Allen Thompson, 85, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Woodbine Funeral Home. Interment
will be in Santa Fe Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Richard H. Thompson III.
She is survived by son, Richard Thompson, Paul Thompson and John Thompson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be James Stepp, John Litchfield, Jerry Fraley, Buddy Hall and Turner Simons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Martha Gleaner's Sunday School Class and deacons of Crievewood Baptist Chruch, Dr. Mary Alice Harbison and care attendants at Care Stone of Brentwood.
Ethel Young Perrymon
MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Ethel Young Perrymon, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
She was employed by the H. Earl Hoover family of Glencoe, Ill., for 56 years. Mrs. Perrymon was married to the late Maxie Perrymon for 62 years.
Services will be held at noon Tuesday at Jones Chapel African Methodist Church with Pastor William Smith officiating.
She will lie-in-state from 2-7 p.m. Monday at Chavers Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial services will be held at Rosemount Cemetery in Columbia.
Eight brothers and two sisters preceded Mrs. Perrymon in death.
Survivors include a devoted niece, Mary E. Whitaker of Mt. Pleasant, and a host of other relatives.
James W. Gentry
James W. "Milkball" Gentry, 56, of Columbia, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Connection Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Maurice Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at Middle Tennessee Veterans in Pegram. The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Roundtree, Napier & Ogilvies Franklin Funeral Home.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Connection Hill Primitive Baptist Church.
He was the son of Willie Lee Gentry and Jennie V. Petway Gentry of Franklin. He is survived by a wife, Sharon Gentry of Columbia; son, JAmes Willie Nelson; daughters, Christy Gentry of Columbia, Deborah Poynter and Krishana Nelson, both of Franklin; sisters, Barbara (James E.) Hughes, Glenda Gentry and Connie PEtway; and three grandchildren.

Bertha Gill
Mrs. Bertha Gill, 77, of Tuscombia, Ala., died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Leighton, Ala., with burial in Tuscumbia, Ala.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home.
The Alabama native was the daughter of the late Reverend Joe Eddie Crutch and the late Callie Crutch Sherrod. She was a member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was an usher, member of the Missionary Board and the Mother's Board.
She worked for many years at Colbert County Hospital and Helen Keller Hospital as a physical therapist assistant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Gill; sons, Robert Lewis Gill and Ernest Melvin Gill; grandson, Terry Jackson; granddaughter, Barbara Gill Smith; brother, Lewis Edward Crutch, half-sister, Tilda Mae Crutch; and stepmother, Kizzie Hamilton Crutch.
Survivors include four daughters, Callie Jackson of Nesbitt, Miss., Peggy (Ernest) Sykes of Leighton, Ala., Patricia (Al) Hawkins of Columbia, and Lovie (William) Softley of Tuscumbia, Ala; sister, Mary Dillard of Lancaser, Penn.; two stepbrothers, Paul Hamilton and E.T. Hamilton of Florence, Ala., 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Myrtle Adell Rice Bloss Parrish
Mrs. Myrtle Adell Rice Bloss Parrish, 93, resident of the Hampshire Pike, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at NHC of Columbia.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Steve Swango and Rev. Wendell Trussell officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. A native of Cordova in Fayette County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late James R. and Hassie Rice and a graduate of Bankhead High School in Cordova.
Mrs. Parrish was a long-time member of Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and a former employee of J. C. Penney Company.
Her first husband, Rev. J. B. Bloss, long-time Free Will Baptist minister, died in 1959. Her second husband, Mac Parrish, died in 1966.
Survivors include a son, James "Jimmy" (Carolyn) Bloss of Columbia; three stepdaughters, Margaret (William) Woody of Santa Fe, Jean (Edd) Chumley of Culleoka and Barbara (James) Edwards of Santa Fe; two stepsons, Doug (Vivian) Parrish and Charlie (Sue) Parrish, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Blaine Bloss, Kay (Dexter) Shelton, Jamie Bloss; stepgrandchildren, Bill (Bette Lynne) Mardis, Jim (Mary Sue) Mardis, Jean (Marion) Garrett, Lavern (James) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Shelton, Roger Shelton, Mark Shelton, Candace Bloss, Heather Bloss, Beth Osborne.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Rice; three sisters, Essie Tompkins, Ada Naramore, Evie Courington; stepdaughters, Beauty Ramsey, Clara Bloss, Thelma Lindsey, Vira Mardis, Mary Parrish, Guinn Ramsey; step-grandchildren, Dean Mardis, J.O. Mardis, Dot Robinson.

Robert Meredith Hubbard
Robert Meredith Hubbard, 51, resident of Katie Lane, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, while on duty at King's Daughters' School.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Parkway Baptist Church. The Maury County native was a 1971 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served a tour of duty in Vietnam in the U. S. Army 75th Ranger Battalion.. He earned a master's degree in Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and was a graduate of Columbia State Community College's paramedic program and a State of Tennessee licensed paramedic.
He was currently serving as a counselor at King's Daughters' School, a paramedic with Vanderbilt University Hospital and was previously an instructor and coordinator at Columbia State Community College.
He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Maury County Reserve Deputies, National Association of EMTS and a former member of Columbia Masonic Lodge and Maury County Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sara A. Dodson Hubbard of Columbia; a son, Kevin Robert (Fawn Carper) Hubbard of Ft. Hood, Texas; his mother, Rose Hubbard of Columbia; step-children, Derek Anthony Pugh and Levi Ladele Pugh; step-grand children, Carley Pugh, Hayden Pugh, Grace Davis, Hannah Pugh, Hope Pugh; his stepmother, Bennie Williams Hubbard of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Meredith J. Hubbard and his father, E. Wade Hubbard.

Ricky 'Little Rick' Hancock
Services for Mr. Hancock will be conducted Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway Baptist Church with Reverend Darrell Bewley and Reverend Ricky Cotton officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from and Tuesday from 5- 9 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home.
The Maury County native was the son of Franklin and Sadie Whitley Hancock of Columbia. He was program director, music director and D.J. for WXRQ radio station in Mt.. Pleasant. He was a member of the Cross Bridges Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, David Lee (Stephanie) Hancock and Frank (Selena) Hancock, Jr. both of Columbia; several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Tom Harmon, Steve Anderson, Jerry Baggett, Billy Ray King, Steven McCandless, and Wayne Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cross Bridges Baptist Church and employees of WXRQ radio station.
Mrs. Helen Cook
A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Cook will be conducted at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery. Williams Columbia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Cleveland, Ohio native was the daughter of the late William and Marie Jordan Clayton. She was the widow of Ralph Lewellen and Albert Cook. She was a retired secretary for Harland Electric Company in Detroit, Mich.. She was a former long-time resident of Akron, Ohio where she was secretary for B.F. Goodrich for many years. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. She was an avid reader and walker.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Copen of Barberton, Ohio, Patricia (Ralph) Owens of Columbia and Ruth Ann (Everett) Dix of Portland, Ore.; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Allen Dean Sprouse
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Giles McMeory Garden.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was a retired carpenter.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean West of Pulaski; a step-daughter, Bonnie Lovett of Pulaski; step-sons, Don Bowen of Pulaski, David Bowen of Nashville, Terry Bowen of Texas and Richard Bowen of Florida; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Carol Ann Graves
Services will be conducted Mondayat 2:00 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery.
She is the daughter of Naymond Graves and the late Doris Carroll Williams Graves. She was employed as a registered Nurse at Skyline Medical Center.
In addition to her father, she is survived by son, Jeremy Roden of Hohenwald; daughter, Diana Roden of Hohenwald;step-mother, Marjorie Graves of Hohenwald; brothers, Ron and Jimmy Graves of Hohenwald and Andy Graves of Springfield; sisters, Linda Moores of Jacksonville, Fla. and Melissa Raymer of Hohenwald; grandmother, Augusta Williams of Hohenwald; and one grandchild.
Mr. Johnie Petro
A memorial service for Mr. Petro will be held at the First Baptist Church in Columbia at a time to be announced later by the Williams Columbia Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date at the Elmridge Cemetery in Muncie, Ind.
The Muncie, Ind. native was the son of the late John and Ester Johnson Petro. He was the husband of Rachel Oren Petro of Columbia. He was a life-long resident of Muncie, Ind. where he owned and operated Petro's Barber Shop. He filled his time with being a barber and playing music. He was well-known for his musical talent for being able to play anything that had strings on it.
Another talent of his was restoring antiques and fixing clocks.
Many of those antiques and clocks made Petro's Barber shop a unique place to visit as it was filled with antiques, many of them clocks, and a variety of toys..
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John L. Petro of Indianapolis, IN; a special daughter-in-law, Elaine Petro of Noblesville, Ind.; a daughter, Patty Sulsona of Los Angeles, Calif.; two step sons, Don (Dava) Tobey of Dunnellon, Fla. and Jeff (Vonda) Tobey of New Albany, Ohio; a step daughter, Michal Ann (Alan) Scudder of Columbia; his grandchildren, Shannon (Jeff) Daniels of Noblesville, Ind., Lisa (Michael) Grossman of Boyds, Md., Maria Sulsona of Los Angeles, Calif., Lito Sulsona of Los Angeles, Calif., Carolyn Tobey of Columbia, S.C., Sarah (John) Rufenocht of Ft. Knox, Ky., David (Jennifer) Tobey of Round Rock, Texas, Emily Tobey of Georgetown, Texas, Laura (Jimmy) Wheeler of Nashville, Joe Luttman of Nashville, and David Tobey of New Albany, Ohio; eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mrs. Elnora Ruble
Services for Mrs. Ruble were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at the Speck Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston with the Reverend H.C. Vanderpool officiating . Burial was in the Hoover Cemetery.
The Picket County, Tennessee native the daughter of the late Jacob and Ermine Walker Logan and widow of John H. Ruble. She was a homemaker and member of the Landmark Baptsist Church in Allons.
She is survived by four daughters, Beulah Simons and Virginia Thompson both of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Geneva Hawkins of Allons and Patsy (Jim) Johnson of Columbia; three sons, Glen Ruble of Indianapolis, John Ruble of Sunrise, Fla. and Ronnie Ruble of Allons; a sister, Zelma Johnson of Port Huron, Mich.; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Glen Ruble, John Ruble, Ronny Ruble, Phil Simons, Branville Thompson and Jim Johnson.
