John Edward Cox
John Edward Cox, age 41 of 1515 Allen Lane, Hillsborough, died peacefully on Dec. 22, 2005, in Hospice at the Meadowlands.
He was the son of the late John Elmer and Ruby Lee Lovett Cox. He was a graduate of Orange High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from NCCU in Durham, NC. He graduated with honors as a Magna Cum Laude recipient. He was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elmer and Ruby Lee Lovett Cox; paternal grandparents, Edward and Etta Daugherty Cox of Caryville; maternal grandparents, Frank and Judith Dyke Lovett of LaFollette.
He is survived by his daughter, Scarlette Ashley Cox and wife, Carol Chestnut Cox, both of Durham; parents, Jim and Bertha Lovett Carter, of Hillsborough; sisters, Deborah Cox Fox and husband, Willie, of Hillsborough and Erin Carter of Hillsborough; brothers, Larry Cox and David Carter and wife, Megan, of Hillsborough; aunts, Janet Lovett, of Hillsborough, Callie Lovett Stuart and husband, A.D., of Richmond, VA, Janie and Jim Head of Long Beach, MS, Nancy and Albert (Dude) Hickey of Jacksboro, Sue Cox Morton of LaFollette; uncles, J.T. Lovett and wife, Dar, of Hermitage, TN, Bobbie Cox, Edward and Brenda Cox and Dean Cox, all of Caryville; grandfather, Spurgeon Carter, of Hillsborough.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 27 at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Private entombment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hospice at the Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

Ramsey R. Harvey, Jr.
Ramsey R. Harvey Jr. age 44 of LaFollette passed away Dec. 25, 2005 at the U.T. Medical Center of Knoxville. He was of the Baptist faith. Ramsey was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also would help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramsey and Barbara Thacker Harvey.
He is survived by his wife, April Harvey of LaFollette; son, Ryan Austin Harvey of Kingsport; brother, Ransey R. Harvey of CA; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Dec.28 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Brian Brown and Rev. Adam Hunley officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Martin Wilson Funeral Home, 700 West Central Avenue, LaFollette, TN. 37766. All donations will be applied to the funeral expenses.

Betty Muse Harp
Betty Muse Harp age 60 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 1, 2006 at Claiborne County Hospital. She was a member of First Apostolic Church of LaFollette. She loved cooking, housekeeping, flower gardening and her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Marie Hickey Heatherly.
She is survived by her husband, David Harp of LaFollette; daughter and son in law, Melissa and Randy Staggs of LaFollette; stepdaughters, Lisa Meadows and Starla Boshears; grandchildren, Kayla Pennington, Amanda and Anthony Ward all of LaFollette; step grandchildren, Amber and Carla Boshears and Trent Meadows; sisters, Robbie Sue Muse, Barbara Walden and Hettie Chapman and husband Jerry all of LaFollette, Patsy Daugherty and husband Steve of Caryville; brother, Sherman Heatherly and wife Aileen of Jacksboro; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 3 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Jeff Moses and Steve Carroll officiating. Interment
was in the Peabody Cemetery.

Ashton Lee Horn
Ashton Lee Horn age 8 months of LaFollette passed away Dec. 30, 2005 at his home. He was a beloved son who would light up a room with his smile. He was such a good baby. He will be greatly missed by everyone who came in contact with him. He will be sadly missed by mom, dad, brothers, sister and especially grandma.
He was preceded in death by his parental grandparents, Arnel Odis and Shirley Horn.
He is survived by his parents, Arnel Jr. and Penny Walker Horn; brothers, Noah Arnel Horn, Terry Cox, and Zachary Tyler Cox; sister, Abigayle Horn all of LaFollette; grand parents, Carl Sr. and Shirley Walker of LaFollette; great grand parents, James and Oneda Campbell of LaFollette, Carlie and Myrtle Horn of Richmond, KY.
Funeral services were Jan. 1 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Lindsay Cornett officiating. Interment
was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Robert “Bill” Hutston
Robert “Bill” Hutson, age 73 of Jacksboro passed away Dec. 24, 2005 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was the owner and operator of Eagle Bluff Realty, the former owner of Hutson Variety Store and formerly with Powell 5 and 10 Cent Store. He was a member of the LaFollette First Baptist Church, LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623 F and AM, Royal Arch Chapter 212 and Knoxville Council #76 Cryptic Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Nona Hutson; sister, Imogene.
He is survived by his wife, Ricky Hutson of Jacksboro; children, Robert Neil Hutson and wife, Leslie of Clinton, Tony Hutson of NC and Becky Brown and husband, Frank of NC; grandchildren, Melissa Brown, Billy Brown, Megan Hutson, all of NC, Conner Hutson and Neil Hutson, both of Clinton; former wife, Betty Payne Heatherly of NC; several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27 in the Walters Chapel with the Rev. Harry James and Rev. Ralph Combs officiating. Masonic services were conducted by the LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623 F and AM. Interment
was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Etta Rachel “Williams” Miles
Etta Rachel “Williams” Miles, age 97 of LaFollette passed away Dec. 28, 2005 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of Demory Baptist Church. She was an avid fisherwoman and an excellent cook. She loved flowers, gardening, crocheting and making quilts. She also loved her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Miles; parents, Henry H. and Margaret Buckles Williams; brothers, Abner, Mitchell, Bill and Arlie Williams; sisters, Linda Carruba, Maude Salling, Tishie Chandler, Katherine and Emmy Williams.
She is survived by her nieces she raised as daughters, Charlene Norman of Baltimore, MD and Nelleen Starrett of LaFollette; special great nieces and nephews, Cynthia Woods, Kenny Starrett and Clifton Norman; special great great nieces and nephews, Clark, Lindsay and Beau Woods and Seth Starrett; sister-in-law, Lois Williams of Kingsport, TN; hundreds of nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Dec. 31 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Wrightly Salling, Rev. Lonas Salling and Rev. L.W. Salling officiating. Interment
was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Kenneth Jay Miller
Kenneth Jay Miller, age 63 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 1, 2006 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from General Motors in Anderson, IND in 1992, where he worked in the boiler room before moving to this area. He loved NASCAR, working on cars and talking on the CB, with the handle 151.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Miller of LaFollette, children, Elaine Draise of OH, Lisa Marino of FLA, Kim Cook of Jacksboro, Kelly Abston of Nashville, Richard McCullah of Oneida and Ronald Paul of Knoxville; mother, Neva Miller of IND; Helen Rains of KY; brother, Roger Miller of IND; 16 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in New Castle, IND.
Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
J.T. Randolph
J.T. Randolph, age 67 of Caryville passed away Dec. 31, 2005 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing the lottery. He was a retired welder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Mattie Randolph; daughter, Shirley Ann Randolph; brothers, Elbert, Edgar and Jimmy Randolph; sisters, Edith Kaper, Wanda Randolph.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Randolph, Caryville; sons and daughter in laws, Richard and Linda Randolph, Alpha, Ky, James Randolph, Dayton, OH, Billy and Bobbie Jo Randolph, Caryville and Roy Whiting, Canada; daughters and son in laws, Tracy Gail and Steve Riggs, Caryville, Julia Ann and Damian Randolph and Pamela Whiting, all of Dayton, OH; brothers, Charlie Randolph, Cleveland, TN, Roscoe Randolph, Caryville; sisters, Pearl Smith, Jacksboro and Margie White, LaFollette; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 3 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Charles Sparks officiating. Internment was in the Indian Creek Cemetery.
