Harlin Kennedy
Harlin Kennedy, 68, of Lake City passed away Dec. 23, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born January 31, 1937 to the late Richard and Bessie Daugherty Kennedy. He was retired from General Motors.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Matt, Hoye, Steve and Lorenza Kennedy; sister, Martha Seiber.
He is survived by his daughter, Justine Kennedy of Caryville; sisters, Jane Phillips Caryville, Ailene Lane, Fla, Belle Warwick, Caryville, Ada Armes, Caryville; brothers, Jim Kennedy, Rockwood, Luther Kennedy, Oliver Springs, Goldman Kennedy, Lake City, Avery Kennedy, MI.
Graveside services were Dec. 27 at the Byrge Cemetery with Pastor Justin Phillips officiating.
Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer Leo McCulley
Elmer Leo McCulley, born August 21, 1933, passed away Dec. 13, 2005 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a fox hunter and carpenter. He was a wonderful daddy and loving papaw that was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Wicks McCulley; brothers, “Hoover” Shelton, Howard McCulley, Albert Disney and Clayton McCulley.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice Byrd of Caryville, Kathryn Wilburn of LaFollette, Carolyn Monday of Jacksboro, Faye Marlow and Vickie Sue Marlow both of Speedwell; sisters, Katie Whited and Ovela Bryant both of LaFollette; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Dec. 15 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Harry James officiating. Interment icon was in the Marlow Cemetery.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bill McNeil
Bill McNeil, age 70 of LaFollette went home to heaven on Dec. 24, 2005. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of New Horizon Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army; SPEC4, E4 C Co. 5th Aw Bn (SP), 2nd Artillery, Germany. He was an avid genealogy researcher and was very proud of his Scottish Heritage. He was an accomplished artist and writer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer George McNeil; mother, Laura Miller McNeil Wallace; step-father, Tilden A. Wallace; brother, Ben McNeil; daughter, Kelly McNeil and father-in-law, Homer Norman.
He is survived by wife, his heart and soul, of 41 years, Rachel Norman NcNeil; daughter and son, Cindy and Matthew Hatmaker of LaFollette; mother-in-law, Mildred Norman of LaFollette; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Donald Erb of Murfreesboro, Patricia and L.D. Byrd of LaFollette, Carolyn and D.C. Brantley of Maryville; sisters-in-law, Jeannie and Mutt Kitts of LaFollette, Brenda Johnson of Winder, GA; brothers-in-law, Homer (Charles) and Jerri Norman Jr. of Knoxville, David Norman and Jess (Buster) Norman of LaFollette; 14 nephews and ten nieces; special nieces, April Reese and Jessica Key; close friends, Kyle and Karen Hutson, Gene and Clara Mae Hatmaker and Jay Hatfield.
Funeral services were Dec. 27 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Pastor D.C. Brantley and Pastor Ronnie Poston officiating.
Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

James Y. Orick
James Y. Orick, age 75, of LaFollette, passed away Dec. 24, 2005 at Lake City Health Center. He was of the Baptist faith, US Army Veteran, retired from U.S. Dept. of Defense, member of Valley Star Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and Scottish Rite Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Addie Woodson Orick.
He is survived by his brother and wife, Harold and Diana Orick, New Market, Al; nieces, Sherry, Wanda and Laura; two grand nephews, three grand nieces and one great-grand nephew; a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Dec. 26 at Cross Chapel with Masonic services with the Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Interment icon was in the Fincastle Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cecile Nelson Parrott
Cecile Nelson Parrott, age 94, of LaFollette passed away Dec. 21, 2005 at St. Mary’s Health and Rehab. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Parrott; parents, William and Alice Marlow Nelson; great grandson, Jared Trey Seiber; sisters, Alta Siler and Etta Siler; brothers, Charlie Nelson and Walter Nelson.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Toby Overbay of LaFollette and Jimmie Sue and T.J. Sparks of Speedwell; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Bill Seibers, Todd and wife, Tonya Overbay and Thad and wife, Lisa Overbay; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Candace Overbay, Theron and Ashton Overbay; sisters, Gladys Rogers, Baltimore, Md, Virginia Hale, LaFollette; brothers, Bill Nelson, Co.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Dec. 22 at Cross Chapel with Elder J.C. Monday and Jimmy Ault officiating. Interment icon was in the Fincastle Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Gillum officiating.
Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Ernest Perkins
Richard Ernest Perkins, age 87 of Kensee, KY passed away Dec. 22, 2005 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was born May 11, 1918 to William “Squire Bill” Franklin Perkins and Nannie Nicholson Perkins. He served his country as a member of the Army during the United Mine Workers Association. He lived his entire life in and around the Kensee Community and Whitley County overlooking the Clear Fork River and was respected and beloved member of the Jellico Church of God of the Mountain Assembly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Nannie Nicholson Perkins; wife, Geneva Beams Perkins; sister, Fannie Payne and her husband, Carson Payne; brothers, George Earl and Charles Henley Perkins; nephew, Johnny Hugh Payne; great great nephew, Marcus Payne.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Floretta Land Perkins; sister in law, Della Perkins of Atwater, OH; nephews, Carson Payne and wife, Betty of Williamsburg, KY, Ernest Delbert Payne and wife, Laura of Clinton, William Alfred Payne and wife, Rachel of Spring City; George Frank Payne and wife, Emilee of Williamsburg, KY, Dewayne Perkins and wife, Mary of TX, Charles Perkins and his wife, Texie, Bill Perkins and his wife, Mary, Richard Perkins and his wife, all of OH; nieces, Dolly Rose Williams of Xenia, OH, Selma Elaine Herron and husband, Johnny of Williamsburg, Nannie Sue Davis and husband, James L. of Jellico; great nephews, Cas Payne, Steve Payne, Mark Payne, Jimmy Williams, Dave Davis, Alan Payne; great nieces, Deborah Strunk, Janice Goins, Patricia Halcomb, Alana Payne, Cheryl Taylor, Michelle Chitwood, Jennifer Herron, Diana Cobb, Vicky Davis; several great great nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were Dec. 26 at the Cox and Son Chapel with the Rev. Jerome Walden officiating. Interment icon was in the Clearfork Cemetery.
Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Hazel Marie Lay Stephens
Hazel Marie Lay Stephens beloved wife and mother departed this life on Dec. 25, 2005. She was born October 2, 1939 in Anderson County. She was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church in Lake City.
She was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Mossie Harmon Lay; sisters, Helen Cornett and June Slaughter; brothers, Charles M. Lay, William P. Lay, and Robert V. Lay.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, James F. Stephens of Lake City; daughter and son in law, Debbie Stephens Hudak and husband Chris of Clinton; one grandson whom she cherished, Christopher Blake Hudak; brother, John Lay and wife Marcy of Jacksboro; special niece, Linda Bass and husband Tom of Kokomo, Ind; sister in law, Thelma Berryhill and husband Lewis of Clinton, Dorothy Arnold of Maryville, and Carolyn Strizak of Clinton; brother in laws, Charles Stephens and wife Betty of Lake City, Kenneth Stephens and wife Kay of Knoxville, and Thomas L. Stephens and wife Trelis of Clinton.
Graveside services and interment icon were Dec. 28 in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Larry Watts officiating.
Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of the arrangements.

Cecil E. Anderson
Cecil E. Anderson, age 58 of Jacksboro passed away Jan. 1, 2006 at the St. Mary’s Health System in Knoxville. He was a member of LaFollette Church of God. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed Mopar’s and any old cars and four wheelers. He was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Sally Hill Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Anderson of Jacksboro; daughter and son in law, Tammy and Jamie Smith of Jacksboro; son, James Anderson of Jacksboro; brothers, J. Will Anderson and wife, Norma of Jacksboro, Ralph Anderson and wife, Odell of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Ruby Bostic of Flat Rock, MI, Mildred Clodgio of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Jan. 4 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Jeff Armstrong officiating. Interment icon was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The Campbell County Honor Guard was in charge of graveside services.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
