Elsie Ferguson, 86, LaFollette, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 30 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Sparks officiating.
Interment followed in Campbell Memorial Gardens.
Receiving of friends was Tuesday, September 30 before the funeral services.
Jenny Ann Hatfield
Jenny Ann Hatfield, 43, LaFollette, died Monday, September 29, 2003 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Fordtown Baptist Church. Jenny was a loving daughter, sister and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Hatfield; grandparents, Clyde and Pearl Paul and Roy Bowlin.
Ms. Hatfield is survived by her mother, Bobbie Bowlin, step-father, Bobby Ray Bowlin, both of Jacksboro; brothers, Jerry Hatfield, LaFollette, Danny Bowlin, Jacksboro, Darrell Bowlin, MI.; sisters, Karen Hatmaker, LaFollette, Kim Bowlin, Jacksboro; grandmother, Flora Mae Bowlin, Jellico; three nieces, Danielle Hatmaker, LaFollette, Brittany Bowlin, Caryville, Raven Bowlin, Jacksboro and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 30 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. David Hicks officiating.
Interment was Wednesday, October 1 in Campbell Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Tuesday before the services.

Matilda Lucinda "Tilda" Kemplen
Matilda Lucinda "Tilda" Kemplen, 79, Clairfield, died Thursday, September 25, 2003 at the Beach Tree Manor in Jellico. Mrs. Kemplen was founder and director of Mountain Community Child Care Center and a teacher in Campbell and Bell County, KY., and a published author.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elijah Kemplen; son, James Elijah Kemplen, Jr.; parents, Arthur Lee and Nancy Siler Gay; brother, Thomas Gay and sister, Alene Terry.
Matilda is survived by her son, Ralph Kemplen and wife, Betty, Roses Creek; daughter, Christine Teague and husband, Jimmy, LaFollette; granddaughters, Jamie Hall, Jacksboro, Tammy Terry and husband, Ricky, Roses Creek; grandsons, Daniel "Bucky" and Brenden McKillop, Jacksboro, Briona Lucinda Hall, Brittany Michelle Waldroop, Jessica Leann and Harmony Elexis Terry, Austin Ray Kemplen; sister, Minnie Lambdin, White Oak; numerous nieces and nephews and she helped to raise and loved dearly and a multitude of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 27 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Willard Terry officiating.
Interment was Sunday, September 28 in Kemplen Family Cemetery in Clairfield.
The family received friends before the funeral on Saturday.

Sarah Bean Leach
Sarah Bean Leach, 64, Speedwell, formerly of Oak Ridge, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at her home. She was of the Baptist Faith. Sarah worked at Terry’s Pharmacy in LaFollette for 23 years.
She is preceded in death by her son, Ricky Allyn Leach; parents, Dan and Bess Bullard Bean; brothers, Bill, Jack, Bob and Tom Bean; sister, Blanche.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Cindy Leach, Oak Ridge; sisters, Lucretia Clawson, Ruth and husband, Marion Claiborne, all of Speedwell; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, special pet, her dog Casey.
Funeral services were Saturday, September27 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Eddie Hoskins officiating.
Interment was Sunday, September 28 at Beeler Cemetery, Speedwell.
The family received friends Saturday before the funeral at Cross Funeral home.

Jeanna Faith Meade
Jeanna Faith Meade, 3, Jacksboro, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg, PA.
She is survived by her parents, Timothy Pack and Jennifer Meade, both of Jacksboro; sister, Logan Alexis Pack; grandparents, Alma Baird, both of Jacksboro, Archie and Judy Baird, LaFollette, Alma and Richard Pack, Jacksboro, and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were Sunday, September 28 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Kennedy officiating.
Interment was Monday, September 29 in Baird Family Cemetery.

Bulah Mae Burns McCartt
Bulah Mae Burns McCartt, 79, Speedwell, died September 24, 2003 at Middlesboro A.R. Hospital. She was born January 31, 1924 in Bell County, KY. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She was a good homemaker, loved flowers, gardening, cooking and talking on the phone.
Bulah was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.C. McCartt; parents, John and Clara Burns; twin sisters, Geraldine and Willene Burns, sister, Betty Partin; great-grandson, Spencer Mayes and daughter-in-law, Bessie Rains.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Bernice Rains, Kenneth and Kathy McCartt, all of Speedwell; daughters, Bessie Jean Cadle Wascom and husband Bill, Winder, GA., Judy VanBever and husband, M.O., Speedwell, Sandra White and husband, Bill, Corbin, KY.; daughter-in-law, Dora McCartt, Speedwell; brother, Arvillie and Verde Lou Burns, Speedwell; sister-in-law, Dollie Burns, Rockford and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 27 at Reece Valley Chapel with Reverends Larry Heck and Randy Boldin officiating.
Music was provided by Louise Hunter and the Friendship Singers.
Burial was in the Loy Cemetery.

Charles "Chuck" Metheney
Charles "Chuck" Metheney, 83, Lake City, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the Farragut Health Care Center in Knoxville. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was retired from Rock Creek Mining Company.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Metheney, parents, Thomas and Rebecca Metheney; sister, Callie Metheney and two infant sisters; brothers, Homer, Elster and Delbert Metheney.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Anderson and husband, Al, Lake City; sons, Charles Metheney and wife, Mary, Clinton, Steve Metheney and wife Shirley, Claxton; grandchildren, Randy and Sonya Metheney, Claxton, Emilee and Scott Church, Trenton, MI, David Metheney, Prescott, AR., Tommy Metheney, Clinton, Stephanie and Brian Hall, Knoxville, Andrea and Shawn Phillips, Claxton; great-grandchildren, Andy and Ryan Hall, Knoxville, Katelyn and Elizabeth Church, Trenton, MI., Silas Isham, Claxton; sister, Ora Hoffman, Wilkesville, OH.; brother, Donald Metheney, Vinton, OH.; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Reverends Troy Keaton and Sam Condon officiating.
Interment will be Friday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at Leach Cemetery in Lake City with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
