James Ernest Allen, 70, of Briceville, died on Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the Lake City Healthcare Center. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Briceville.
He was preceded in death by parents James and Victoria Pratt Allen; sister Georgia Leach and brother Bill Allen.
He is survived by son Tim Allen of Clinton; grandson Jordan Thomas Allen of Clinton; sister Hazel Allen of Briceville.
Funeral services were held at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with funeral services with Rev. Marty Stooksbury officiating. Interment
was in the Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

Arvil Brown
Arvil Brown, 84, of Lake City, died on Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence. He was a deacon and member of Brown's Flat Baptist Church. He was 32nd degree Mason of Crystal Lodge #616 in Briceville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Brown; sons J.L. and Dallas Brown; grandson James Dewayne Brown; sisters Martha Corn, Pearl Phillips, Ruth Aslinger, Ella White; brothers Bill and George Brown.
He is survived by daughters Shirley Jean Brown of Briceville, Virginia Kay Elkins of Lake City, Angela Mary Ellen Brown of Briceville, and Barbara Gail Huskey of Briceville; son Philmore Brown of Lake City; sister Dorothy Dison of Frost Bottom Community; brother Harce Brown of Bellaire, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, at the Brown's Flat Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Lindsay, Rev. Jay Braden and Rev. Jimmy Ray Seiber officiating. Interment
was in the Brown's Flat Church Cemetery.

Carolyn Bowlin
Carolyn Bowlin, 56, of Red Hill, Ky., died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Jellico Community Hospital.
She is survived by one son, Jimmy Bowlin of Cane Creek, Ky.; one daughter, Kimberly Huddleston of Red Hill; one granddaughter, Katelin Huddleston of Red Hill; three sisters, Opal Strunk of Jellico, Betty Huddleston of Red Hill and Minnie Lawson of Toledo, Ohio.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 23, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Horace Partin officiating. Burial was on Friday, May 24, at Worley Cemetery.

Carol Foust Carden
Carol Foust Carden, 52, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was member of the Carroll Hollow Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by first husband Kenny Martin and father Johnny L. Foust.
She is survived by husband Leonard Carden of Lake City; son Michael Foust of Andersonville, Tenn.; grandson John Michael Foust of Andersonville; mother Carrie Mae Beech Foust of Andersonville; step-daughters Elizabeth Lynn, Connie Jo and Sandy Jean, all of Michigan.
Funeral services were held at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Hall, Rev. David Crowe and Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. Interment
was Saturday, May 25, at the Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery in Andersonville.

Rosalia Chadwell, 67, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Jellico, died on Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Dayton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by parents Floyd Chadwell and Leola (Parker) Chadwell; brothers Phillip Chadwell and William Paul Chadwell; and sister Helena Chadwell.
She is survived by brothers James Chadwell of Dayton, Ohio, Georgia Chadwell of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Nancy Davis of LaFollette, Jolene Coyt of Jellico, Mary Moore of Jellico and Wilene Hicks of Jellico.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Parker officiating.
Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Russell Elkins, 68, of LaFollette, formerly of Williamson, W. Va., died on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at his home.
He was preceded in death by daughter Authula Mae Elkins; mother Authula Maynard; stepfather Charles Maynard and sister Garnett Hall.
He is survived by wife Elena Ann Elkins; stepsons Chuck Sensabaugh of Ellenwood, Ga., and J.A. Sensabaugh of Dayton, Ohio; ex-wife Martha Morgan of West LaFayette, Ohio; sons Russ K. Elkins of West LaFayette, Ohio, Richard Elkins of Newark, Ohio, and Todd Elkins; daughter Vickie Dragovich of Warsaw, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers William Elkins of Grove City, Ohio, and Irvin Hensley of Williamson, W. Va.; sisters Marie Scurlock of Grove City, Ohio, and Juanita Mitchell of Yorkville, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at Weavers Mortuary with Rev. Robert Elkins officiating. Interment

Charles (Chalk) Halcomb, 76, of Stinking Creek Community, died on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at St. Mary's of Campbell County in LaFollette.
He was preceded in death by wife Jesse James Halcomb; an infant son; grandson Derrick Campbell; parents Summitt and Flemmie Halcomb; sisters Rosie Ayers, Evia Douglas, and Cora Ayers.
He is survived by son Charles Anthony Halcomb of Indianapolis; stepson Monroe Baker of Indianapolis; daughters Eleanor Flathers of Danville, Ind., Judy Campbell of Stinking Creek; stepdaughter Cindy England of Greenfield, Indiana; sister Marie Hicks of Stinking Creek; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
