Robert L. Sweat, 44, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at his home.
He was a member of Grantsburg Baptist Church.
He is survived by parents Lee and Mary; brothers Mike of LaFollette and Jim of Sumpter, S.C.; sister Mary Klinefelter of Junea, Wis.
Closed funeral services were held for family members.
Sammy Mullis Thomas
Sammy Mullis Thomas, 76, of Jellico, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Beech Tree Manor in Jellico.
He is survived by son Mark Moore of Jellico; daughters Barbara Douglas, Elaine Buckner, and Jeanette Creekmore all of Jellico; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Jellico Church of God with Rev. Ozell Bunch and Rev. Jerome Walden officiating. Interment
was held in Rogerston Cemetery.

Gladys Widener
Gladys Widener, 80, of LaFollette, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a lifelong member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Silas Widener of LaFollette; son Henry Davis of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Crosslin of Atlanta; step-sister Luola Ayers of LaFollette; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Pitin officiating. Interment
was held in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Thelma Aline Adkins
Thelma Aline Adkins, 93, of Maryville, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was faithful member of Mountain View Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents Henry and Cora Vinsant; brothers Astor and Eugene Vinsant; and daughter Chrysteen Campbell.
She is survived by husband Taylor Adkins of Louisville, Tenn.; sons Ray, Marvin, and Kenneth Adkins; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 9, Mountain View Baptist Church. Interment
was held at Sherwood Memorial Garden Mausoleum Chapel.

Rev. Elbert Baird
Rev. Elbert Baird, 78, of High Knob Drive, LaFollette, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County in LaFollette. Rev. Baird was a minister for 45 years and a pastored several area Baptist Churches.
He was preceded in death by parents Wesley and Mary Ann (McCullah) Baird; brothers Lee and Ben; sisters Etta Carroll and Lilliam Malicoat.
He is survived by wife Lois Hatmaker Baird; daughters Carolyn Brewer of Kingston and phyllis Bruce of Clinton; sisters Hazel June Parker and Mildren Spradlin of LaFollette; brothers Victor of LaFollette and Oba of Tazewell; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday at Fordtown Baptist Church with Rev. Baird’s nephew, Rev. Bob Carroll officiating. Interment
was held in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Wiley Day
Wiley Day, 81, of 528 Coolidge Rd., LaFollette, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Murrayville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by wife Myrtle Day; parents John and Stella Wilson Day; brothers Alex and Willie Day; sister Irene Carroll.
He is survived by son Eddie R. Day; daughters Jeraldine Polson, Jean Chapman, and Carolyn Walden; brother John Day; sister Delphia Hughett all of LaFollette; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Martin Wilson funeral Home with Rev. Don Whited and Rev. Darryl Mefford officiating. Interment
was held in Campbell Memorial Gardens.

Dallas Etter
Dallas Etter, 91, of LaBelle, Fla., died April 2, 2001, at the Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Fla.
She was preceded in death by parents Grant and Lillie Proffitt Taylor; husband George W. Etter; son Ernest Etter; brothers Jake Hugh, Homer, and Clifton; and sisters Leattia Collins and Esther.
She is survived by sons Edward Etter of Taylor, Mich. and James Etter of LaFollette; daughter of Mildred Helton Rossville and Imogene Rush of Clewiston, Fla.; 18 grandchildren numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, at Reece Valley Chapel. Interment
was held in the Beeler Cemetery.

Mary Fields
Mary Fields, 75, of 155 Davis Rd., LaFollette, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home.
Mrs. Fields has no survivors.

was held on Tuesday, at Campbell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Hobart McCreary officiating.
