Douglas Kenneth ‘Doug’ Hobbs
Douglas Kenneth “Doug” Hobbs, 67, of Maryville, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at Parkwest Medical Center due to unexpected complications from heart surgery.
Doug was born
August 10, 1945, in Knoxville.
He was the son of Douglas Lee “D.L.” Hobbs and Helen Botts Giles.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Maryville.
Since 2000, Doug served as a sheriff’s deputy and was training center manager at the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, where his colleagues called him “dedicated” and “hard working.”
Before his career in local law enforcement, he graduated from University of Tennessee with a degree from the school’s first Forestry program and then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War Era.
Doug was also a longtime law enforcement officer for the United States Forest Service in Kentucky, Texas, and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. He held numerous positions on U.S. federal government task forces, was the security coordinator for the Olympic Whitewater rafting course at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga., and in 2003, was a member of the Space Shuttle Columbia Debris Recovery Team.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman, an animal lover, and always felt at home in nature or on the back of his Harley.
Doug is survived by his brothers, Alan Giles and wife Susie of Maryville, Richard Hobbs and wife Phyllis of Kingston, Ronald Hobbs and wife Janet of Knoxville, Edwin “Ootie” Hobbs and wife Debbie of Knoxville; sisters, Sandra Gaskins and husband Kenneth of Knoxville and Kimberly Chadwell and husband Paul of Knoxville; and his many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his stepfather, Harold “Doc” Giles of Maryville; his former wife, Loretta Hobbs, and family of Crockett, Texas; and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Scooter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas “D.L.” Hobbs; his mother, Helen Giles; his stepmother, Christine Hobbs; and his grandparents, Clemmie and Vesta Hobbs and Wendell and Ruth Botts.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Doug’s friends, Pastor Greg Long of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Chaplain Randy Story of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for all of their support at the hospital and beyond.
They would also like to thank Captain Jeff Burchfield of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for all his assistance, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and Doug’s many friends at Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson for their kind thoughts and prayers.
Visitation will be held at Smith Trinity Chapel, 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803, on Saturday, October 13, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will also be at Smith Trinity Chapel on Saturday, October 13, at 1 p.m.
The burial service will follow at Concord Masonic Cemetery
in Farragut, 11019 Second Drive, Concord, TN 37934.

Billie Carol King Suttles
Billie Carol King Suttles, age 73, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday evening, October 9, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
She was a member of Piney Level Baptist Church.
Billie loved watching the Vols and the Braves even in their bad times.
She loved everyone and knew no stranger.
Billie is preceded in death by parents, Lewis King and Mary Elizabeth Waycaster King; sisters, Joy Hatcher and Jett Beal Price; brothers, Reed, L.D., Von, Jerry and Gary King; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a loving and devoted wife to Sam Suttles for over 55 years; a loving and caring mother to her children, Ina Kay Suttles Roberts and husband Chuck Roberts, Tony Suttles and wife Lisa Williams Suttles, Roger Suttles; precious nana to her grandchildren, Brandy Roberts-Kershaw and husband Jeff Kershaw, Wendy Suttles Fermanich and husband Rob Fermanich, Serena Suttles Hodge and husband Matt Hodge, Kathy Roberts Cornwell and husband Danny Cornwell, Samantha Suttles, Christopher Suttles and Billie Suttles; several special step-grandchildren; and many precious great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother and “sister”-in-law, Jack and Kathy King; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and special friends, James (Bud) and Doris Waters, Barbara Smith; and a very special sister-in-law, Phyllis Suttles Arnold.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at Piney Level Baptist Church, 3527 Piney Level Church Road, Maryville, with the funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m.
Rev. George Macht will officiate.
Immediately following the service, there will be a procession to Grandview Cemetery
for a graveside service and interment.

Helen Rose moved from nursing home stay.
And was glad to hear her Master say, “Well done, good and faithfuls servant.

She and Desler raised Quentis, Chris, Jeff and Mark: “the boys.”
Helen worked on the farm, cooked, cleaned and picked up toys.
Her Greenback community held an election.
For woman of the year, she won this affection.
Helen loved her grands and great-grands alike.
All 10 down to the smallest tike, Quent, Sarah, Annie, Seth, Kayla, Shane, Win, Livie, Sadie Rose, Levi.
Her sisters from Kingsport, Lyndal and Ann, treasured Helen as most valuable antique in the land.
So Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend, God gave us His best until your earthly end.

Dennis Tipton Livesay
Dennis Tipton Livesay, age 78, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital.
He was born
February 7, 1934, in Sneedville, Tenn.
He graduated from Hancock County High School in 1952, and was a graduate of the Northrop Institute of Technology of Los Angeles.
Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force and Tennessee Air National Guard.
He loved his country, his family and his many friends.
He loved to travel and sing Karaoke.
Preceded in death by parents, Prior Tipton “Tip” Livesay and Mary Campbell Livesay; sisters, Nell Greene and Ruth Brewer; twin brother, Douglas Boyd Livesay.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Eileen Krogh Livesay; sisters, Katie Berdolt and Lois Eddleman; daughter, Marilyn Livesay; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Margaret Livesay; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Kurt Akamine; five grandchildren, Marlon Livesay Yates, Hayden and Hayley Livesay, and Erin and Ezra Akamine; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and inurnment with military honors at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, at Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, with a military chaplain and Fr. Bill McNeeley officiating.

Shirley M. Dupre
Shirley M. Dupre, age 70, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, in Maryville after a brave struggle with cancer.
Shirley was born
in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Dupre; parents, James and Thomasina Black; and brothers, Jim and Brian Black.
She is survived by her son, Roy Navarre; daughter-in-law, S. Silvia Navarre; and two grandchildren, Luke and Dominic, in Washington state; her twin sister, Anne Mackenzie and brother Archie Black in Scotland; and her companion, Thomas Urban.
Shirley loved the Smokies for decades and moved to Walland in 2008 from Louisiana.
The family is deeply grateful for the kindness shown to her by the staff at Blount Memorial, Morningview Village and Asbury Place.
A private ceremony will be held.

Labe “Skip” Myers Coada II, age 42, of Maryville, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Ann Coada; sister, Kimberly; grandparents, Rufus and Flora Coada, and Ruby and Calvin Breeden.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years Felishia Caughron Coada; children, Draven aged 14, Austin aged 12, Erica and Ana aged 5; father, Labe Coada of Virginia; brothers, Tracy Breeden of Maryville, Jim Coada of Greenback; sister, Carrie Coada of Greenback; mother, Louise Coada of Greenback; in-laws, Haley and James Irwin of Rockford.

Georgia K. Maner, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012.

Samuel Ephriam Trentham, age 89, was born
24 Sept. 1923 near the Smoky Mountains National Park Headquarters and the Sugarlands Visitor Center where Highway 441 crosses Two Mile Branch.
He went to reside with his Lord and Savior November 10, 2012, peacefully at his home with family at his side.
He was a self-employed man of many trades, carpenter, plumber, electrician, land surveyor and mason who worked until he was 87 years old.
He was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Maryville, Tenn., for over 50 years, enjoyed camping and was a member of the Ft. Loudon Camping Club for many years. His main love of life was always his family.
He was always loved and highly respected by everyone who knew him.
Preceded in death by grandparents: Robert L. and Mary “Polly” Fancher Trentham, Ephraim and Mary Ann Reagan Ogle; parents, Noah and Mary Jane Ogle Trentham; half siblings, Orlie Trentham, Lillie T. Watson, Mack Trentham, Willie Trentham, Munsey Trentham, Ollie Carr Trentham, Mayme Carr Trentham, Wesley Carr; siblings and spouses, Kate and Rev. Martha Bogle Badgett Ryan
Martha Bogle Badgett Ryan, age 92, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Blount Memorial Transitional Care.
She was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church and was retired from Crum and Blazer Insurance with 30 years of service.
She was very dedicated to her family and especially to her daughter, Susan.
She loved to hike and was in a ladies hiking group.
Martha will be greatly missed at Blount Memorial Transitional Care where she spent the last six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Woody Ryan; parents, Samuel “Joe” and Ada Henry Badgett.
Survivors include her son, Robert Woodrow Ryan and wife Debbie of Friendsville; daughters, Susan Gayle Ryan of Lenoir City, and Ann Ryan of Maryville; granddaughter, Jennifer Ryan Bell and husband Danny of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandson, Beckom Ryan Bell; special friend, Irma Miser.
