Jeffrey Scott Byerley
Jeffrey Scott Byerley, age 58, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at his home in Greenback. He grew up in Greenback, was a lifelong member of Greenback First Presbyterian Church, for years owned and operated Greenback Welding, and always felt that Greenback was where he belonged. He was dedicated to his family, and they were always very dedicated to him. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him over the years, especially by his children, Annie and Seth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Desler Byerley and Helen Rose Byerley; and his brother, Christopher Paul Byerley. His survivors include his son, Seth Joseph Byerley of Greenback; and daughter, Annie Elizabeth Byerley of Phoenix, Ariz.; his brothers, Mark and Quentis, and his nieces and nephews, Quent, Sarah, Kayla and Shane. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mildred Nichols Harrill
Mildred Nichols Harrill, age 87, of West Miller's Cove, Walland, passed away Friday morning at Blount Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of West Miller's Cove Primitive Baptist Church. Born July 28, 1925, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy. L. Harrill; parents, Rev. John B. and Julie Nichols Sr.; and brothers, Rufus Nichols and John Nichols Jr. Survivors include: sons and spouses, Roy L. and Nylice Harrill, Jr. of Niceville, Fla., Don and Laverne Harrill of Maryville, and Doug and Robin Harrill of Walland; grandson, Newell Haven-Harrill of Walland; honorary son, Ron Campbell; and sister-in-law, Sue Nichols. Mildred and her husband Roy were the owners and operators of Maryville Produce Co. of Maryville for many years. A special thanks to the staff at Quality Care Assisted Living, and Blount Memorial Hospice team, Jack Weeks and Dr. Chelnokopa. Mildred will long be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She enjoyed talking with people of all backgrounds, and had a wonderful re-collection of people and events through her lifetime. She will truly be missed by her family and friends who knew her. Margaret Viola Carter, age 89, of Maryville, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Asbury Place at Maryville. She was a member of Gospel Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Webb; son, James Webb; granddaughter, Rhonda Bledsoe; and parents, William and Maggie Gourley. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and George Nichols and Karen and Ivan Whitehead; son and daughter-in-law, John and Lisa Webb; brothers, Gordon and Verlin Gourley; grandchildren, Geoffrey Whitehead, Kevin Whitehead, Leslie Nichols, Sonja Stanton, Sara Burchfield, Carrie Smith, and Amanda Webb; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Betty June Stinnett Boling Pettie
Betty June Stinnett Boling Pettie, age 83, of Maryville passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012. Betty was born
in Maryville on May 3, 1929. She was a member of Maryville Church of Christ since she was a young girl. Betty married Clarence Boling in November 1946, then in March 1990, she married Randall Pettie. She cleaned houses when she was five years old during the Depression. After raising her children, she took LPN training and worked at Blount Memorial Hospital where she retired after 21 years of service. She enjoyed working in her yard and flowers and was devoted to caring and sharing with her family. Her special love was her dog “Brady.” She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Betty loved the Lord Jesus Christ and passed that love on to her children. Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Mozelle Stinnett; husbands, Clarence Boling and Randall Isaiah Pettie; sister, Kathryn Stinnett; grandson, Donald Craig LeQuire. Survivors include daughters, Carol A. Teague and Sharon M. Stinson (Randall), all of Maryville; sons, Robert L. Gene McConnell, age 77, of Maryville, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alcoa and Gideon’s International. He was also member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge and the ALCOA 25 Year Club. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard serving during the Berlin Crisis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kezia McConnell; father, Clint McConnell; and infant son, Jeffrey McConnell.
