Doris Jean Loveday Crumpton, 67, of Salisbury, N.C., went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 11, 2011, following a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Crumpton was born
in Sevier County, Tenn. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years, Donald Allen Crumpton of Salisbury; daughter, Lara Christine Crumpton of Monroe; son, Christopher Alan Crumpton of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandsons, Charles Allan, Thomas Statem, William James and Jacob Alexander Crumpton; brother, Charles Loveday of Beckley, W.Va.; sisters, Faye Hilizak of Cleveland, Ohio, and Wanda Barker of Sevierville. Clarence Earl “Hank” Franklin, age 69, of Maryville, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Clarence was a hard worker, and was employed by the Daily Times for 35 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Wendy Franklin of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Danny Terry of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jessica, Shawn, Tony and Taylor, Samantha and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Malique and Khloe. Agnes Smithey Tinnell Gray
Agnes Smithey Tinnell Gray, age 81, of Etowah, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 15, 2011. The only daughter to John and Mallie Key Smithey, Agnes had five brothers, Jiles and Walter Hill, Allen, Robert H. and John F. Smithey. She was the devoted mother of Bill Tinnell, Jimmy Tinnell, Darlene Smith and Francene Becker; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Agnes will long be remembered for her compassion for others, kindness to all and her unwavering devotion to God and her family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Vernell Wayman Fritts, age 96, formerly of Friendsville, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in Charleston, South Carolina. Mrs. Fritts is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford. She is survived by her daughter, Ruthie Fritts of Seabrook Island, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Lynn Fritts of Louisville; granddaughter, Hannah Fritts Scott and husband Nick of Louisville, along with special family friend Sandra Cook of Seabrook Island, S.C. Mrs. Fritts was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University who, after a brief teaching career, operated a beauty salon in Tellico Plains, Tenn., for many years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a lifetime member of First Methodist Church of Tellico Plains. She was an avid Vols and Lady Vols fan who enjoyed preparing home-cooked meals for family and friends. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. Monday at Center Presbyterian Church in Tellico Plains, with a graveside service to follow at the Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Clark will officiate. Mrs. Blair was one of nine children to Sherman and Winnie Tyler. Ancel M. Lynn, age 82, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the family home. He was lifetime member of Maryville Church of Christ. He spent 10 years in the United States Air Force, 17 years in the National Guard working as a civilian at McGhee Tyson Air Guard. Ancel was a veteran of the Korean War and Operation Steel Trap in Germany. He was a master wood craftsman, photographer and traveler. Preceded in death by parents, Lewis and Clemmie Lynn. Survivors include wife of 61 years, Donnie McElwain Lynn; son, Ronnie Lynn of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Luther Boring of Maryville; granddaughter, Kimberly Murphy and husband Tony; several great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, George and Wanda Lynn of Evansville, Ind.; sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and George Fein of Dothan, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Jessie Darlene (O’Neal) Able, age 54, of Maryville, went to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, November 10, 2011, at her home after a battle with lung cancer. She was a member of the Heritage Church of God. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred D. O’Neal; grandmother, Florence “Granny Johnson” Gibbs; father-in-law, George Able; and brother-in-law, Gary Able. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Billy Ray “Bill” Able; stepdaughter, Casey Able; stepgrandson, William “Willie” Able; her loving mother, Johnnie Edwina O’Neal; brothers, Tim and Dennis O’Neal; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and R. L. Bradburn, Robin and Bob Coles, and Jennifer and Danny Patty; mother-in-law, Ella Mae Able; brothers-in-law, Gene Able, Michael Able, and Jerry Hall; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Able and Brenda Golden; and several very special nieces and nephews. Frances (Hill) Hill
Frances (Hill) Hill, age 96, of Maryville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011, at her home. She attended Maryville College and received her degree from State Teachers College in Johnson City in 1937. She began her teaching career in New Market. In 1946 the Hills moved to Maryville where she taught in the Maryville School System for several years. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church of Maryville. She was the eldest child of the later Sen. Lon C. and Josie (Fox) Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Howard Hill; sisters, Lillian Webb, Ruth Norton and husband Homer; brothers, Herbert Hill, L. C. (Jack) Hill; nephew, Charles Edward Hill (Edd). Survivors include her sister-in-law, Joan Hill of Knoxville; niece, Barbara Webb and husband Tom Boots of Annandale, Va.; nephews, John W. and wife Barbara Hill of Dandridge, Jack W. Hill of Knoxville and Dr. Jason A. Hill of Nashville; great-niece, Rachel Boots; great-nephew, Andy Hill; special loving friends, Anna McKee, Elizabeth Johnson, Lisa Nichols, Wilma Myers. Charles William Currier
Charles William Currier, age 63, of Maryville, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War in 1968 as a door gunner, and he was a helicopter mechanic and flew them as well. Charlie worked on several farms in Blount County and in later years was employed by the State Department of Forestry. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Currier; several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his brothers, Bill Currier of Knoxville and Robert Currier of Alaska. He leaves behind his extended family and beloved dog (Baby) at Liberty Assisted Living, and his church family at Ridgeview Baptist Church, and a multitude of friends.
