Margaret Stratton Waters, of Louisville, Tenn., passed away at home Friday, August 12, 2011. She belonged to Green Meadow Methodist Church and was retired after 40 years of teaching and librarian for Blount County School System. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Mull Watson; parents, Claude Sr. and Minnie Stratton; sister, Helen Webb; brothers, Claude, Bud, Joe and Harry Stratton. Survived by son, Mike Waters; daughters and son-in-law, Melinda Presnell, and Teresa and Wade West; granddaughter, Courtney Davis; grandsons, Joey Davis and Andy and Patrick Mull; sisters and brother-in-law, Minnie Foster of Kingsport, Betty White of Alcoa, and Jane and Theron Burchfield of Maryville. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, in the West Chapel of Smith Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Aaron McCarter officiating. I.G. Teffeteller, age 83, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born
October 6, 1927, to the late Homer and Vera Russell Teffeteller. He was a dedicated family man and always worked hard to put his family first. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from ALCOA in 1989 after 42 years of service and was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club. Preceded in death by grandson, Matthew Gentry; parents, Homer and Vera Russell Teffeteller; brothers, Raymond, Cecil, Edd, and J.R. Teffeteller; son-in-law, William J. Gentry. Dr. James Holmes Emert, age 85, of Maryville, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Maryville First United Methodist Church, where he served the church in many capacities. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps, attended Emory University and UT College of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Maryville for 41 years and was active in dental organizations for many years. Survivors include his wife, Clariece Emert; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cindy Emert of Knoxville, John and Sonya Emert of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Suzy and Terry Vineyard of Tellico Village; grandchildren, Jason Emert, Josh Emert, Maggie Terry-Emert, Ellie Terry-Emert, Ted “Buddy” Arnold, Jim Arnold; sister, Sara Jo Kramer and husband Roy; several nieces and nephews. Earl H. “Earl the Squirrel” Pratt, age 70, of Knoxville, formerly of Maryville, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living. He was a dedicated member of Central Church of God and a street minister to the downtown Knoxville area, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Earl was an avid fisherman as well as a faithful follower and supporter of The Maryville Rebel Football Program for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna Pratt. Stacie Nicole Brantley, 25, of Knoxville and formerly of Athens, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville. She was a native of Maryville, Tennessee, but lived in Athens most of her life, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jason David Brantley, maternal grandfather, Glenn Rowland, and paternal grandfather, Ralph Quinten Brantley, and a cousin, Emalyne Medders. She has attended Wildwood Baptist Church. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School, where she was active in sports. She also attended Cleveland State Community College. She was associated with Personal Choice Healthcare. She is survived by her mother and father; David M. and Carol Rowland Brantley of Athens, maternal grandmother, Betty Rowland of Englewood, paternal grandmother, Ida Bertagnolli Brantley of Daphne, Alabama, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
