Hayes was born
January 26, 1924 in White County.
She was a homemaker.
Hayes was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn F. Meadows, Betty T. Williams, Paulette Cannon, and Rosemary Williams, all of Sparta; two brothers, Chester Writtenberry of Pennsylvania and Aaron Writtenberry of Ohio; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2000, at Hunter Funeral Home. Fate Wilson officiated. Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Veleda Roena Bennett
Veleda Roena Bennett, 88, of Cookeville passed away Monday, December 11, 2000 at Masters Health Care Center.
Bennett was born
October 5, 1912, to Fain and Carrie Ray Netherton.
She was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church for over 40 years.
Bennett was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Luther Bennett of Cookeville; her son and daughter-in-law of Sparta, Bill and Ella Morgan; her brother Doss Netherton of Cookeville; three sisters, Velna Eldridge of Michigan, Vivian Riddle and Millie Huffer, both of Cookeville; one granddaughter, Kim White of Brentwood; two great grandchildren, Phillip Morgan White and Sydney White.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville. Officiating was Brothers Lynn Markham and Tim Franks. Burial was in Crest Lawn Cemetery.

James Carles Winnett
James Carles Winnett, 71, of Sparta, passed away Monday, December 11, 2000 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Winnett was born
June 6, 1929 in White County to Charlie and Limmie Wilson Winnett.
He was a retired truck driver.
Winnett was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Leon Winnett, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise Osborne Winnett of Sparta; three sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and Cindy Winnett of Sparta, Darrell and Sherrye Winnett of Cookeville, and Derrick and Jan Winnett of Cookeville; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jackie Howell of Sparta, two grandchildren, James Leon Winnett, Jr. and Kyle Lee Winnett.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Fate Wilson will officiate. Hunter Funeral Home in charge.
Justin Tyler Hutchings
Justin Tyler Hutchings, a four day old infant, Of Sparta passed away Tuesday December 12th, 2000 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
The baby was born
on Friday December 8th to Greg and Michelle Hutchings.
He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Karie and Megan; Grandparents, Royce and Lorene Hutchings of Sparta and H.B. and Adelene Price of Jamestown; A Great Grandmother Pauline Hale of Sparta.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday December 15th at 11am, at Taylor Providence Cemetery
with Brother Davis lee England officiating.

Charles Royce Parker
Charles Royce Parker, 67, of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at his residence.
Parker was born
April 18, 1933 in Sparta, Tennessee to Marvin and Ellamae Jones Parker.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Parker was a factory worker.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Parker is survived by his wife, Rita Bernice Hale Parker of Sparta; one daughter and son-in-law, Terresa Lynn Hooper and Michael Hooper of Sparta; one son, James Earl Parker of Sparta; one sister, Berdena Dodson of Sparta; five grancchildren, Nikia Hooper, Stephanie Parker, Stacy Parker, Greg Parker, Kyle Parker; his mother, Ellamae Parker of Sparta.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at Hunter Funeral Home of Sparta. Burial will be at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery.

Lankford Lewis Raper
Lankford Lewis Raper, 89, of Doyle, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at the residence of his daughter.
He was born
in White County on October 29, 1922 to Will and Mamie Lyle Raper.
Raper was a member of Doyle Nazarene Church.
He served in the United States Navy and was a farmer.
Raper was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Raper; his parents; two brothers, George Fate Raper and Charles Noah Raper; one sister Geneva Hatcher.
He is survived by his son, Bennie Raper of Sparta, two daughters and sons-in-law, Levonda and James Hallums of Doyle, and Theresa and Tom Havener of Chattanooga; four brothers, J.L. Raper of Doyle, Lee Raper of Rocky Face, Georgia, Calvin Raper of Bon Air, and Fred Raper of Florida; four sisters, Bertha Sparkman and Mary Spakes, both of Doyle, Katherine Smith Cooley of Sparta, and Callie Bumbalough of Bon Air; eight grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Raper will lie in state at Doyle Nazarene Church from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, just prior to funeral services.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Doyle Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Skurlock Cemetery. Brother William Welch will officiate.
