Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
CARL C. GATES, 97, of Birmingham, retired lumber broker for Dobbins Lumber Co., died of heart failure Thursday in Birmingham. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood cemetery in Birmingham. Ridouts-Brown Funeral Home in Birmingham has charge. He was a member of Avondale Methodist Church, Exchange Club, and Toastmasters. He was recognized as Alabama's oldest worker by the Chamber of Commerce and was invited to Washington to receive an award. Mr. Gates, the widower of Inez Sloan Gates, leaves local survivors including a son, James Pickens of Memphis.

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - Bertha Thigpen, 80, of Moreno Valley, Calif., formerly of Blytheville, retired dietitian, died of respiratory failure Feb. 22 in Moreno Valley. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for 40 years, with burial in Gethsemane Gardens cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville has charge. Mrs. Thigpen, the widow of Roy Thigpen, leaves seven daughters, Earnestine Casey and Bernice Logan, both of Alton, Ill., and Ann Wyrick, Dessie Thigpen, Betty Thigpen, Bertha Lee Thigpen and Rosemary T. Thigpen, all of Moreno Valley; five sons, Roy Thigpen Jr. of San Jose, Calif., Edward Thigpen of Peoria, Ill., Jerry Thigpen of Blytheville, Dan Thigpen of Moreno Valley and Terry Thigpen of Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Rosie Donner of Steele, Mo.; a brother, Lloyd Haley of Kansas City, 50 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

FORREST CITY, AR - Billy Wayne `Giggs' Wallace, 58, retired employee of Airtherm Manufacturing Co., died of cancer Wednesday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home with burial in Loughridge cemetery in Colt. He was a member of Widener Baptist Church. Mr. Wallace, the husband of Alice Faye Hatcher Wallace, also leaves a daughter, La Donna Thorton of Widener; a son, Shannon Wallace of Forrest City; eight sisters, Betty Ruth White, Dottie Hatcher and Patsy Nichols, all of Forrest City, Bonnie Wilkinson and Connie Buchanan, both of Kuttawa, Ky., Jeanie Moore of Lake Cormorant, Miss., Debra Snow of Kingsport, Tenn., and Kitty Haugen of Green Bay, Wis.; three brothers, Calvin Wallace of Forrest City, D.D. Wallace of Murray, Ky., and Woody Wallace of San Jose, Calif., and two grandchildren.

MARION, AR - Roma I. Pike, 79, homemaker, died of heart failure Tuesday at her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Landess Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo., with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park cemetery. She was a Sunday school teacher at Campbell First Baptist Church, and a member of Campbell Federated Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Pike, the widow of Matthew L. Pike Jr., leaves a daughter, Mary Martha Smith of Campbell; a son, Matthew L. Pike III of Marion, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

OSCEOLA, AR - Annie Lee Randleas, 80, of Ozark, homemaker, died of cancer Tuesday at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola with burial in Louise Chapel cemetery in Bassett. She was a Pentecostal. She leaves a daughter, Faith England of Ozark; three sisters, Hazel Benson and Nott Ford, both of Savannah, Tenn., and Wilma Martin of Collingwood, Tenn.; a brother, L.J. Ward of Adamsville, Tenn., and three grandchildren.

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO - D. L. Clark, 82, retired general store owner/operator, died of heart failure Tuesday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cottonwood Point Baptist Church with burial in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery. H. S. Smith Funeral Home has charge. Mr. Clark, the husband of Ida Mae Clark, also leaves two daughters, Peggy Knipper of Jackson, Tenn., and Phyllis Dean of Apopka, Fla.; a son, Dorsey E. Clark of Mountain Grove, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Cottonwood Point Baptist Church.

ALAMO, TN - Ray L. Pinkston, 72, of Joliet, Ill., formerly of Alamo, retired millwright for Sheffield Steel, died of heart failure Wednesday at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ronk Funeral Home with burial in Oak View Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Pinkston, the widower of Geraldine Davis Pinkston, leaves a daughter, Janice Tharpe of Joliet; two sisters, Lucille Ballard and Margaret Thompson, and a brother, Neal Pinkston, all of Alamo, and five grandchildren.

BROWNSVILLE, TN - Clover Ann Hines, 56, homemaker, died of cardiac arrest Feb. 25 at her home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at London Branch Baptist Church with burial in Brown Creek cemetery. She leaves her father, West Hines of Brownsville; four sisters, Bernice Hines of St. Louis Gennett Rogers and Kattie Currie, both of Brownsville, and Margaret Harvey of New York City, and three brothers, Lester Hines of St. Louis, Thomas Hines of Richmond, Ind., and John Hines of Brownsville.

Simpson, also leaves a daughter, Jan Outlaw of Brownsville; four sisters, Emma Lee Stewart and Dorothy McCommon, both of Jackson, and Mai Belle Duffy and Jo Ann Cannon, both of Brownsville; a brother, Leland F. Simpson of Bells, and a grandchild.
