Nellie Fuson Hubbard, age 92, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Leadvale Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Hubbard; son, Tinley Charles; parents, John and Rose Fuson. She is survived by her son, Harold Hubbard of Florida; daughter, Larae Wallene Norrod of White Pine; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, February 3, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Harkleroad and Rev. Charles Robison conducting the service. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, at the funeral home to proceed to the White Pine cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside interment

Ivan Howard Ludt
Ivan Howard Ludt, age 87, of Talbott, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist of Morristown and a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Ludt of Talbott; sons and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Mamie Myers of Missouri., Thomas Myers, Clyde Myers, both of Tennessee, Richard Myers of Florida, Charles Myers of Texas, Howard Ludt, Bill Ludt both of Ohio and Albert Ludt of Florida; daughters, Ina Myers of Tennessee, Cecelia Weed of Florida, Mary Garrett of Texas, Dorothy Jacobs of New Jersey, Pauline Wayne of Ohio; special nieces, Joyce Copeland of Georgia and Debbie Smith of Florida; several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, January 31, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Findley conducting the service. Interment

Dixie Gaddis Miller
Dixie Gaddis Miller, age 91, of Dandridge, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at the Jefferson County Nursing Home. She was a life-long member of the Hills Union United Methodist Church and taught music at Dandridge Elementary for 25 years and was retired from Tennessee Handbags. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Sally Brimer Gaddis; husband, Hugh Miller and brother, Glenn Gaddis. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Janice Miller; grandchildren, Mark Miller and wife, Robin, LeAnn Miller Hilemon and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Miller, Daniel and Brook Hilemon; nephew, Robert Gaddis; great-niece, Susan Gaddis Gass; great-nephews, Bobby, Don, Dale and Garth Gaddis; great-great nieces, Julia Gass, Carley Gaddis; great-great nephews, Robert Gass, Heyden Gaddis; special nurse, Judy Roberts. Racine Manis Moser, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Darby House. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses Grant Manis and Martha Moore Manis; sisters, Juanita McGee and Thelma Rankin. She is survived by her husband, Hugh J. Moser; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Stuart Watson; son and daughter-in-law, J. and Susan Moser; sister, Pauline Moore; grandchildren, Jake and Roxanne Moser, Jason and Kate Hickey, Libby Moser, Doug Watson and David Watson; great-grandchildren, Jarret and Jackson Moser, Ben and Samantha Hickey; special caregivers, Juanita Sexton, Carolyn Tester, Sandy Vesser and Evelyn Morgan. Edwin Hugh Shaw, age 42, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at his home in Greeneville. He was a concrete finisher. He is preceded in death by his brother, Myron Shaw and grandparents, Hobert and Bertha Shaw and Bert and Edna Ferguson. He is survived by his parents, Don and Betty Shaw of Dandridge; son, Rex Allen Ferguson of Greeneville; brothers and sister-in-law, Gregory Shaw, Rodney and Kathy Walker, all of Greeneville; sister, Imajean Clark of Phoenix, Arizona; aunts and uncles, Jill Heck of Hickory, North Carolina, Willis and Trixie Teague, and Donnie Ferguson, all of Greeneville; three nephews and two great-nephews. Shirley Nichols Thornhill, passed away Friday, January 31, 2003. She was a member of the Eastern Star, president of the Dandridge Ruritan Club and served as Zone Governor. She was presently manager of the Pizza Plus in Dandridge and was a member of the Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport. She is survived by her son, Jeff Thornhill; daughter, Angela Rogers and son-in-law, Randy; grandson, Nolan; brothers, Lester Nichols and wife, Martha, Paul Nichols and wife, Ruth, John Nichols and wife, Joan; sisters, Ruth Hopkins, Edith Kinsler and husband, Hugh Kyle, Sue Keller and husband, Bill; five nephews; three nieces. The family wishes to thank Maurice Euverard, her special companion and his family for love and support in her life. Carisle Stuart Umberger, age 74, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was of the Methodist faith and retired from New Jersey Zinc Mines with 30 years of service. He served his country in the US Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Umberger. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma Umberger of the home; daughter, Carla Smith and son-in-law Lee Bliss of Jefferson City; brother, Duane Umberger of Talbott; sister, Gayle Bowlin of Morristown; several nieces. William Elmer Webb, age 75, of Dandridge, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at his home. He was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the missions committee and enjoyed retirement and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.H. and Jesse Cole Webb, Sr.; son, William F. “Buddy” Webb; brothers, E.H. Webb, Jr., and Cloys Webb; sister, Katherine Taylor. W. Leon (Bud) Williams
W. Leon (Bud) Williams, age 68, of New Market, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Henard’s Chapel Baptist Church in Rogersville and attended Nina Baptist Church in White Pine. He retired from the US Postal Service after 28 years as a rural mail carrier on Rural Route #3, Rutledge, where he had many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Cleta Zera Brooks Williams and sister, Myrtle Peavler. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Williams of New Market; sister, Thelma Richardson of Kingsport; children, Jerry Williams, Judy Kerr and husband, Michael of Rutledge; step-children, Vicky Parker, Wayne Williams and wife, Sherry of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Brandi Williams of Strawberry Plains, Paul Kerr of Rutledge; step-grandchildren, Brandon Parker of New Market, Tasha and Michael Lee of Strawberry Plains, Kasey Parker, Katie and Caleb Williams, and Dani Phillips, all of Jefferson City; great-grandson, Zayden Michael Lee; many nieces and nephews and lots of wonderful friends. Lee Arden, age 84, of Dandridge, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Arden was of the Baptist faith and has served his country by being a member of the Armed Forces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Edgar and Stella Beal Arden; brother, Clyde Thomas Arden; sisters, Carrie Louise Arden and Alline Kathleen Franks. Edna V. James Haynes, age 89, of Dandridge, passed away Monday, February 3, 2003, at Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Willie Haynes; daughters, Ruth Lindsey and Edith Matthews; daughter-in-law, Mary Nell Haynes. She is survived by her sons, William (Gene) Haynes of Dandridge and James E. Mary L. Williams, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2003. She was a member of Martha Davis Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Williams; parents, Will and Mattie Langston; sister, Thelma and brothers, Hollis and Harold Langston. She is survived by her sister, Helen Johnson of Jefferson City; several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
