Mittis Millard, age 83, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems. Preceded in death by husband, Joe T. Millard; parents, Samuel and Nellie Reneau Mysinger. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, B.J. and Andrea Millard of White Pine; daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Herman West of Morristown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey West, Jennifer Powell, Joe Millard, and Mike Millard; four great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Jake, Reed and Claire West; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Emmert officiating. Graveside service were held at Lakeview cemetery in Lenoir City. Westside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Daisy Belle Slay
Daisy Belle Slay, age 81, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2002. She was a homebound member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Dandridge. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Roy Ison and great-grandson, Lamar Slay. She is survived by her children, Fredda (John) Word, Curley (Janet) Slay, Charles (Etta) Slay, Ann (Coleman) Zeno, James Slay Sr., Surlena Joiner, Sherman (Faith) Slay, Sharon (Wilbert) Dubose, Mattie Slay and Teresa (Terry) Bowman; sister, Pernella Goodman of Greeneville, Mississippi; brothers, Rev. Alonzo Jackson, Jr., and Jesse Jackson, Jr., both of Greeneville, Mississippi; 32 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; adopted sons and daughters, and many lifelong friends including Catherine Mynatt, Helen Johnson and Ada Jones. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, 2002, at First Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. George Lyons and Rev. Steve Simpson conducting the service. Interment

Ralph R. Snyder, age 78, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was an employee of Jefferson County Sanitation Department. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delores Snyder. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Snyder of New Market; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Diane Snyder of Corryton, Robin and Rebecca Snyder and Tommy Snyder of Strawberry Plains; grandchildren, Billy and Angel Rayfield and Lisa Snyder; sisters, Lucille Lusk, Jess Lawson and Wilma Whitaker, all of New Market and Billie Fisher of Strawberry Plains; brothers, Paul and Frank Snyder of New Market; several nieces and nephews. John L. Herndon
John L. Herndon, age 77, of White Pine, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Veterans Hospital in Mountain Home, Tennessee, following a long illness. He was the owner and operator of the former Herndon's market in White Pine, a former carpenter and home builder in the White Pine area. Mr. Herndon was a veteran of WWII having served in the Aleutian Islands. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorene (Beck) Fox Herndon; parents, John C. and Lois Lindsey Herndon; sister, Pasty Herndon; brother, Jimmy Herndon and daughter-in-law, Mary Charles Hardy Herndon. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Sandy and Bobby Mottern of White Pine and their daughter and son-in-law, LeAnn and Justin Morgan of Dandridge; son and wife, Johnny and Patty Herndon of White Pine and their daughter, Lindi Herndon of Knoxville; son, Danny Herndon of White Pine and his children, Lori, Charles, and Frank Herndon, all of White Pine; brothers, Bobby Herndon of White Pine and Pat Herndon of Salem, Virginia; sister, Jean Herndon Clevenger of Newport; special friend, Bobby Lewis; special caregivers, Anna Lee Lewis and her son John Albright, all of White Pine; several other relatives and host of friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30 at 8 p.m. at Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Robison and Rev. Charles Harkleroad conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the church from 5-8 prior to the service. William A. (Bill) McAndrew
William A. (Bill) McAndrew, age 86, of Dandridge, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He was a cattle farmer and worked several years as an auctioneer in local stockyards. His family farm in Jefferson County is where the English Mountain Spring Water Plant is located. The plant is owned and operated by a special friend, John Burleson. Mr. McAndrew is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Mitchell McAndrew and Lucy Rinehart McAndrew; brothers, Joseph, Mitchell, and Inman McAndrew; sister-in-law, Martha McAndrew and nephew, George Alger McAndrew, Jr. He is survived by his sisters, Josie McAndrew, Laurie Lakey, and Lucille Rainwater and husband, Glenn; brothers, George Alger and Y.J. McAndrew and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Betty McAndrew; nieces, Glenda Rogers, Patricia McAndrew, Gail Buckner, Dyann Bible, and Lauren Bugel; nephews, Jim, Ray, and Phillip McAndrew and Eddie Rainwater. Dennis Michael Posey, age 49, of Dandridge, formerly of Rocky Point, New York, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
