BENTON -- Leota Godfrey Rogers, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
Survivors include grandson, Barry Rogers; brothers, Gene Godfrey, Burch Godfrey and Paul Godfrey; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Oak Grove Cemetery with Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Marion Rollins
SOUTH PITTSBURG -- Marion Francis "Pete" Rollins, 46, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
Preceded in death by half brother, Jim Hargis.
Survived by mother, Ruby M. Hargis; stepfather, Lem Hargis, both of South Pittsburg; one daughter, Shandy Renee Castle, Memphis; two brothers, Jim Rollins, Atlanta, Johnny "Hodge" Rollins, Chattanooga; half-brother, Brad Hargis, Kentucky; two sisters, Edna Hargis and Jennie Hargis, both of South Pittsburg; several nieces and nephews; two close friends; and many others.
Services Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Jewell Bryant
Jewell Raby Bryant, 75, lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at her home.
She was a member of Joyful Sound Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bryant.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Bryant Ledford, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Milissa Merciers, Signal Mountain, and Robert Ledford, Chattanooga; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Bishop, Georgetown, and Betty Shelby, Hixson; brother, Jack Raby, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Lane-Coulter Chapel with Rev. James Baker officiating.
Interment: Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation: noon-6 p.m. today and Sunday.

Lewis Burruss
Lewis Ross Burruss, 76, Signal Mountain, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at a local hospital.
He was a graduate of Emory University. He retired from Binney and Smith Inc. after 40 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Crawley Burruss; children, Dr. George L. Burruss, Memphis, Tenn., John C. Burruss, Sherborn, Mass., and William R. Burruss, Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at Alexian Village Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. with Father Jim Wilbanks and Dr. Joseph Bragg officiating.

Margaret Williams Christopher, 78, of Chattanooga died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation after 10 a.m. there.

Nelle Hames
Nelle Hames died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in a local hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Greer, S.C., until moving her residence to St. Barnabas Apartments six years ago. She was 83.
Miss Hames was a medical secretary during her working career and had a lifelong interest in medical missions.
Her keen intellect did not diminish with age and she enjoyed quoting poetry and sharing her jokes with her friends.
Miss Hames is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mitchell Simmons of Lookout Mountain and Mrs. Carl Sparks of Concord, N.C.; seven nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, in the chapel of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to World Missions of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy Hanes
Dorothy Evelyn Hanes, 68, of Georgetown died late Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Hanes had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of her life and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elwood Hanes.
Survivors include one son, Michael Hanes of Georgetown; one brother, Frank Hackney of Macon, Ga.; three sisters, Ann Durham of Chattanooga, Jane Taylor and Ruth Cross, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel with Rev. Al Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in New McDonald Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Bill Hines Sr.
Bill Hines Sr., 76, of East Brainerd died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001.
He was a native of Kentucky and a Chattanooga resident since 1977. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was very active with the Promise Keepers. He worked with the Foster Grandparents Program.
He was preceded in death by son, David Gault Hines; and brother, Robert Hines.
Survivors: wife, Sarah G. Hines; daughters, Beverly Chancelor, Barbara Courtney; son, Bill Hines Jr.; nine grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Newman officiating.
Burial in National Cemetery.

Alton Manis
David Alton Manis, 71, of Soddy-Daisy died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at a local hospital.
Mr. Manis was retired from U.S. Pipe's Soil pipe Division after 30 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Daisy Church of God, American Legion Post 0107 and VFW Post 11560.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Jessie Swafford Manis; a brother, Bill Manis; and his first wife, Mary Manis.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Young Manis; sister, Shirley Lovelady, Soddy-Daisy; brother, Gordon Manis, Harrison; five stepchildren; and five nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Williams and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Warren G. Beavers and Rev. Sam Phillips officiating.
Interment will be Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. today.
