Franklin Dean “Frenchie” McMahan, age 61, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Health Care System. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Francis McMahan. He is survived by his son, Franklin Dean McMahan, Jr. of Knoxville and Scott Allen McMahan of Grainger County; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and James Jones of Jefferson County; special friend, Patsy Dehart; one granddaughter, Tiffany McMahan; brother, Bill McMahan of Grainger County; sisters, Mattie Troutman of Knoxville and Josephine Crow; many other friends and family. Funeral services were held Friday, November 23 in Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
was held in the Red House cemetery. Smith Funeral Home, Rutledge, was in charge of arrangements.
Ruby Morgan McMurray
Ruby Morgan McMurray, age 83, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Community Christian Church of Morristown. She was a resident of Life Care Center of Jefferson City. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter McMurray; brother, Joseph Morgan; parents, Joseph and Annabelle Morgan. She is survived by daughter, Delores (Johnny) Shaver of Talbott; son, Joe McMurray of Knoxville; brother, William Morgan of Specner, Ohio; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, November 26 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Don Holt conducting the service. Interment
was held in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Mayes Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Thomas J. Monnerjahn
Thomas J. Monnerjahn, age 66, of Dandridge, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a retired engineer for the IC Railroad after 47 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Monnerjahn; children, Keith Monnerjahn, Cherie Austin and Melissa Monnerjahn; step-children, Stephanie Guidroz, Daryl Curry, Trisha Geisenheimer and Daphanie Cuquet; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Patricia Whiteman. The body was cremated and will be returned to New Orleans, Louisiana for services. Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge, was in charge of arrangements.
Ralph A. Roach
Ralph A. Roach, age 66, of Mascot, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was a veteran of Korea, Commander Sergeant Major with The Tennessee State Guard and a member of The Bulls Gap VFW. He is survived by sons, Ralph Eddie Roach, Bryan J. Roach and Darrin Roach; daughters, Tina Widlowsky, Joan Rowe and Angela Roach; brother, Allen Roach; sister, Barbara Malone; fiancee’ Gail Miller; nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25 at Evergreen Chapel with Rev. David Alder conducting the service and special dedication by Tony Hulsey. Interment
was held in the Roseberry cemetery with the VFW of Bulls Gap conducting the services. Evergreen Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Rachael Sartain
Rachael Sartain, age 86, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2001 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital, after a brief illness. She attended the Morristown Baptist Tabernacle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Ida Lane Sartain; son, Arthur; several brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Rachael Marie and Mack Foster of Parrottsville and Elizabeth and Kenneth Arnold of New Market; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Annie Sartain of Chattanooga; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27 at 2 p.m. at Farrars White Pine Chapel with Rev. Ralph Benfield conducting the service. Interment

Ronald Blaine Shepard
Ronald Blaine Shepard, age 53, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at his home. He was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and was in the Army National Guard. He is preceded in death by his father, Blaine Faburn Shepard and brother, Charles Walter Shepard. He is survived by his mother, Mary Jo Shepard; special friends, Robert R. Peak of Morristown and Julie Shepard of Dandridge; daughter, Mary Helen Clark of Springfield, Massachusetts; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Ann and Scott R. Derksen of Dandridge; son, Ronald F. Shepard of Dandridge; grandchildren, Victoria Paige Shorter of Springfield, Mass., Brandon “Nick” Shepard of Dandridge. Funeral services were held Friday, November 23 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Billy Bush conducting the service. Military graveside service followed in Phillipi cemetery with V.F.W. Post #5266. Mayes Mortuary, Morristown, was in charge of arrangements.
Joe Nicolas Stallings
Joe Nicolas Stallings, age 57, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2001. Joe had resided at Greene Valley Development Center in Greeneville for many years. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Stallings. He is survived by his mother, Reta Stallings of New Market; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Dennis Burchell of Jefferson City and Carolyn and Carroll Cate of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 27 at 8 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Rev. Tim Tatum conducting the service. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 28 at Strawberry Plains for an 11 a.m. interment

She professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Flat Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Ewin and Bertha McDaniel Spradling; brothers, Charlie, Ben, and Johnny Spradling; sister, Grace Waddell. Clifford Myers, age 77, of Morristown, passed away Monday, November 26, 2001, at Lakeway Regional Medical Hospital, after a long illness. He was a member of First Baptist Church of White Pine. He was a retired employee of Wallace Hardware. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tilmon and Betty Helton Myers and sister, Velvie Myers Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Grace Rea Myers of Morristown; sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Claude Weston of Talbott; nephew, Rick Weston of Morristown; great-nephews, Austin Taylor Weston and Jonas Colby Williams, both of Morristown; other relatives and friends. Margaret Marian Stapelton Pickle, age 58, of White Pine, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2001, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee, majoring in Psychology. She was a retired family counselor from D.H.S. She is preceded in death by her parents, W. Harvey and Daisy Mae Stapelton. She is survived by her sons, William Houston Pickle, Jr. of White Pine, Robert Charles Pickle of Knoxville, and Garry Joshua Talley of Knoxville; grandchildren, Rachel, Tana, Bethanni, Jacob, Katheryn, and Kameron; great-grandchild, Timothy; sisters, Wilma Schramm; nephew, W. Harvey Abouelata; cousins, W. Harvey Stapelton, Maudie Briggs, Dick and J. C. Morrison, Jr., and several other cousins.
