Paul Glenn Rimmer
Paul Glenn Rimmer, age 85, of New Market, passed away Monday, October 22, 2001, at his home. He was a life-time farmer and was well respected in his community. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jessie B. Rimmer; brothers, Sanford and Fred Wayne Rimmer and sister, Lorene Knight. He is survived by his wife, Anna Elizabeth Beal Rimmer of New Market; brother, Robert T. Rimmer and numerous nieces and nephews and good friends. Graveside services will be Thursday, October 25, at 2 p.m.at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Rev. J.W. Taylor and Rev. Charles McGill conducting the service. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Family request that memorials be made to the New Market Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 129, New Market, TN 37820. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, is in charge of arrangements.

Rosie Clevenger Thornton
Rosie Clevenger Thornton, age 80, of Dandridge, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Thornton. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Jeanne Thornton of Dandridge, Steve and Deborah Thornton of Dandridge; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Don Peerman of White Pine; daughter, Rose Mary Hunt of South Carolina; brother, Clifford (Moose) Clevenger of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Bob Joyce of Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Pauline Holen of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Jonathan Thornton, Eddie Thornton and wife, Beth, Kim Thornton, Doug Peerman and Tonya Morgan and her husband, Mike; great-grandchildren, Justin Morgan, Samantha Morgan and Joshua Thornton; special friends, Goldie Thornton and Ruby Moore; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday, October 25, 8 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Hensley and Rev. Beacher Huskey conducting the service. Interment icon will be held Friday, October 26, 11:00 a.m. in Union cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to funeral services.

John S. Adkins
John S. Adkins, age 93, of Dandridge, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001. He was born in Kentucky and worked as a coal miner in the Lake City area for most of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Trent; step-children, Fannie Scarbrough, Howard, Charlie and Dudley Robbins; special companion, Cora Cox; aunt, Evelyn Slover. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25 at Farrar Chapel. Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge, was in charge of arrangements.

Pleas C. Bailey
Pleas C. Bailey, age 90 of Strawberry Plains, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Bailey of Strawberry Plains; daughters, Dorothy Larmer of Corryton and Wanda Breeden of Kodak; son, Pleas Eugene Bailey of Strawberry Plains; step-son, J.C. Koontz of Kodak; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25 at Fielden Chapel. Interment icon followed in Valley View cemetery. Fielden Funeral Home, New Market, was in charge of arrangements.

Howard Spence Brooks
Howard Spence Brooks, age 85, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virtia Snyder Brooks; and parents, Bill and Ella Cate Brooks. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jennie and Earl Clark, Jean Holt, all of Knoxville, Sandy and Sam Stallings, Joe and Carolyn Snyder, Gerald and Pat Snyder, Charles and Dolly Snyder, and Dick Snyder, all of Strawberry Plains; several cousins and other relatives. Funeral services were held Friday, November 23 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Daivd Houser conducting the service. Interment icon was held Saturday, November 24 in Thorn Grove cemetery. Atchley Funeral Home was in charge arrangements.

Mary June Babb Fox
Mary June Babb Fox, age 75, of Powell, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at her home after a long illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. She worked for the White Stores, Norwood School of Oliver Springs and Regas Restaurant. She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Wayne and Bessie Irene Jenkins Babb; brothers, Jim and Harold Babb; sister, Lorine Babb Stooksbury; and niece and nephew, Jeanie and Jerry Babb. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bruce T. Fox; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Mike Walls of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Viki Fox of Sullivan Island, South Carolina; son, Tom Fox of Knoxville; grandchildren, Joe and Lesley Fox; brother, Dennis Babb of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews and special friends. Funeral services were held Friday, November 23 at Farrars White Pine Chapel with long time friend, Rev. Larry Duke conducting the service. Interment icon was held Saturday, November 24 at Hamblen Memorial Gardens. Farrar Funeral Home, White Pine, was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma V. Householder
Thelma V. Householder, age 94, of Jefferson City, formerly of Chaska, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001, at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Oliver Householder; daughters, Betty Jane Bills and Anna Hartzell; brothers, Clarence and Floyd Vaughn. She is survived by her sons, Albert Henry Householder of Lafollette, John Huston Householder of Gardnerville, Nevada, Billy Don Householder, Jimmy Lee Householder, both of New Market and Robert Allen Householder of Torrence, California; daughters, Margaret Ann Householder and Joan Byers, both of Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Bozeman of Maynardville and Helen Douglas of Stinking Creek, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Monday, November 26 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City. Interment icon followed at Lynnhurst cemetery in Knoxville. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane (Ma) Calloway Howard
Mary Jane (Ma) Calloway Howard, age 95, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was the oldest member of Pleasant Gove (Haworth) Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Halmond L. Howard, Sr.; son, Halmond L. Howard, Jr.; brother, William Calloway; sisters, Lucy Calloway and Elsie Stone. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Mary Lou Witt of Knoxville, Betty Boruff of Indiana, Dorcus and husband, Robert Haws of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, William (Bill) and Carolyn Howard of Knoxville, Robert and Jenny Howard of Fort Wright, Kentucky, Larry and Shirley Howard, Rod and Helen Howard, all of New Market, Ed and Emma Howard of Jefferson City; sister, Gladys Boruff of Tipton, Indiana; brother, James Calloway of Knoxville; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; special friends, Ann McClain and Mary and Kenneth Hodge; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24 at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Johnny Beeler, Rev. Henry Davidson and Rev. Johnny Mills conducting the service. Interment icon was held Sunday, November 25 at Pleasant Grove-Fielden cemetery. Fielden Funeral Home, New Market, was in charge of arrangements.

Ed Keirsey
Ed Keirsey, age 97, of New Market, passed away Friday, November 23, 2001, at Jefferson County Nursing Home. He was a lifelong farmer and cattle trader in Jefferson and surrounding counties. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Keirsey and son, Roy Keirsey. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Willocks of Knoxville; son, Don Keirsey of Jefferson City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, November 25 at White Pine cemetery with Rev. Elmer Sharp conducting the service. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, was in charge of arrangements.

Teresa Lynn Walker (Terri) Key
Teresa Lynn Walker Key, age 44, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness. She is survived by her daughter, Traci Key; son, Kevin Key, both of Johnson City; parents, Bertha and Virgil Walker of Jefferson City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mickie and Gary McCarter of Dandridge; Kathy and Rodney Quarles of Andersonville and Becky Cate of Dandridge; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Beverly Walker of Jefferson City; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special friend and cousin, Mona Southerland of Knoxville. Funeral services were held November 23 from the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City with Rev. Wesley Ingram and Rev. Sammy Wade conducting the service. Interment icon was held Saturday, November 24 in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, was in charge of arrangements.

Minnie M. Linzey
Minnie M. Linzey, age 67, of Talbott, formerly of Newport, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2001, at her home. She attended Indian Creek Church of God. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Stuart of Talbott; sons, W.J. Spencer of Florida, Von and Robert Spencer of Newport; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Faye Stone and Jackie Ramirez, both of South Carolina; brothers, Mitchell Gero of South Carolina and Dorsey Collins of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27 at Indian Creek Church of God with Brother Lynn Henry and Rev. Bryon Chambers conducting the services. Interment icon will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 27 from 12-2 p.m. at the Church prior to the service. Fielden Funeral Home, New Market, is in charge of arrangements.
