Rachel Oakes Langston, age 87, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Baptist Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. She was retired from J.F.G. Coffee Company after 33 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and nettie Oakes and husband Willis Langston, two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her sister, Trula Wolfenbarger of Knoxville; special nieces and nephews, Teresa, Tia, and Johnny Patches Hickman of Knoxville, and other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 p.m. and proceed to Pleasant Grove (Piney) cemetery in Jefferson County for a 1 p.m. graveside interment
service with Rev. Eddie Myers officiating.
Helen Graves McCrary
Helen Graves McCrary, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Hamblen Healthcare System. Mrs. McCrary was a long time member of Economy United Methodist Church, where she served for many yeras as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mrs. McCrary was a member of Girls Inc. 100 Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jason and Mildred Rippetoe Graves. She is survived by her husband, John F. McCrary Jr.; daughter, Diane McCrary of Kingsport; son, Stephen McCrary of Morristown; sister, Anne Graves Moore; brothers and sisters-in-law, T.J. and Doris Graves and Charles and Beverly Graves, all of Morristown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, March 30, at Economy United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Schooley and Rev. Doug Smith conducting the services. Interment
followed in Jarnagin cemetery. Stetzer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Alberta Moore Mynatt
Alberta Moore Mynatt, age 91, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Mynatt; parents, Albert and Luvenia Moore; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in law, Glenda and Bill Kinder and Rhea and Alan Palmieri, all of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Sambra and David Frangella, Michael Palmieri, Patty and Scott Winstead, Amy and Curt Barnes; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Shelby Winstead, Luke Frangella; very special friends, Lynette High and Kathy Ball. Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.W. Taylor and Rev. Jim Dampier conducting the service. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. interment
service.

Mary Sue Haun Officer, age 54, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at her residence, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Haun was a member of Russellville Baptist Chruch. She was prececed in death by her parents, Ione Koppenhaver Haun, Thomas T. Haun and Doris May Haun; brothers, Joseph T. Haun, Thomas E. Haun and Richard E. Haun. Mary is survived by hy her husband, Doyle Officer; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Tina Worthington, Stacy and Tammy Worthington, all of Russellville and Nathan Officer; grandchildren, Amy, Mache’la, Courtney and Ethan Worthington; sisters, Pauline Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Judy Morelock and husbnad, Lynn of Morristown, Lois Bergman and Walt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Elaine Carpenter and husbnad, Doyle of Russellville and Margaret Wright and Bob of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; brother, Gene Wheelock and wife, Bev of Madison, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Bonnie Haun of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews. Elsa Ada Parker, age 88, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Life Care Center of Jefferson City. Mrs. Parker was a member of Dumplin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reford Parker; grandson, Jackie Epps; sisters, Eliza Bibbins, Georgia Grindstaff; brother, David Crewsonberry. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Beeler and Katherine Scarlett, both of New Market; grandchildren, Linda Sue Bryan and husband, Tommy, Lonnie Blair and wife, Neica; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Williams, Tiffany Cole and Joshua Blair; great-great-grandchildren, Bret Williams, Tristan Cole, Madison Cole and Kyle Blair. Lisa Michelle Purkey, age 29, of White Pine, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 in Waynesville, North Carolina as a result of an automobile accident. She was employeed by Hillcrest Inn of White Pine and attended the Mount Zion Church of God. She is survived by her husband, James Scott Purkey; son, Tyler and daughter, Shiann all of White Pine, mother and step-father, Joyce and Richard Mantooth; father and step-mother, Gill and Jean Sinard; brothers, Lance Mantooth and Dustin Sinard; sisters, Nicole and Stacy Sinard; grandparents, Johnny and Mae Hickey, Helen and J.T. Chlorice Bible Rankin, of Jefferson City, born July 11, 1901, passes away Friday, March 30, 2001 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City since 1917. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Hull Rankin; brothers, Buford, Marshall, Lyman and Homer Bible; sister, Cecile Bettis. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Lintz of Sevierville, Ruth Stanley of Kingsport, and Frances Gardner of Memphis; sons, Lyle Rankin of Jefferson City, Taylor Rankin of Abilene, Texas and Richard Rankin of White Pine; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Duane Lintz conducting the service.

Lula Margaret (Bowman) Rush, age 78, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2001. Mrs. Rush was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harly Rush; five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Billy J. and Darlene Rush of Jefferson City, Robert L. Ben William (Papaw) Shaffer, age 88, of White Pine, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Lottie Mae Lane Shaffer; sons, George and Clint Shaffer; mother, Ada Rose Shaffer; sister, Mae Brown. He was a promient farmer of the White Pine community and was a member of Nina Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Yates of Morristown; sons, Floyd Shaffer of White Pine and Mack Shaffer of Dandridge; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; several other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 3 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Farrar’s White Pine Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Norris conducting the service. Interment

Martha A. Akridge Trautwein, age 83, of Newport, formerly of Brooks, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 at Lakeway Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman (Happy) William Trautwein, Sr.; sons, Otis (Toad) Lee Trautwein, and Charles (Chuck) Trautwein; step-son, Herman Eugene Trautwein; step-daughter, Virginia Herm; brother, Robert Lee Akridge and sister, Dorothy Frye. She is survived by her daugher, A. Yvonne Cornelius of Dandridge; sons, Herman William Trautwein, Jr. and wife Shirley of Rydel, Georgia; Leonard S. Trautwein and wife Sandra of Louisville, Kentucky; sister, Della Cox of LaGrange, Kentucky; daughters-in-law, Helen Trautwein and Jean Trautwein; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
