Nettie Provine
Nettie J. Provine, 90, of Chattanooga died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in a local nursing home.
She was retired from the city of Chattanooga and a member of Wiley Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel F. Provine Sr.
Survivors include her son, Daniel (Janice) Provine Jr.; daughter, Rebecca Cowan, both of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel J. Boswell of Nashville; sister-in-law, Grace James of Nashville; niece, Gloria J. (Richard) Bartee' of Las Vegas; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Atwater officiating.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home today after noon.
Dorothy Ramsey
Dorothy Jean Ramsey, 67, of Chattanooga died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in a local hospital.
Arrangements will be announced later by Taylor Funeral Home.
Clyde Smith
Eual Clyde Smith, 89, Hixson, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at his residence.
He had been a resident of the Chattanooga area since 1939 and was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith was retired from Chattanooga Gas Co. and was a former member of Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge #673 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Smith.
Survivors are son, Randall Smith, Chattanooga; brother, Roy Smith, Ider, Ala.; sisters, Pauline Crow and Bonnie Mae Steele, both of Ider; two grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Sammy Wilson officiating.
Interment in Fuller Cemetery, Ider, Ala.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
Willie Summerow
Willie Summerow, 81, of Chattanooga died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at a local health care facility.
Arrangements will be announced by Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.
Robbie Thompson
Robbie Dean Capehart Thompson, 60, of Hixson died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
She attended Covenant Free Will Baptist Church and was a waitress at Karl's Restaurant for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her son, Garry Capehart.
Survivors are husband, Donald Thompson of Hixson one daughter, Debra Capehart of Hixson; two sons, Tony Capehart of Charlotte, N.C., and Phillip Capehart of Phoenix; two sisters, Louise Davis of Smyrna, Tenn., and Ethel Parker of Hixson; four brothers, W.R. Womack and James Womack of Hixson, Larry Womack of Soddy-Daisy and Marvin Womack of Florida; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. from Williamson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Clagg officiating.
Visitation: Friday, 2-9 p.m.
Burial is in the Hamilton County Memorial Park.
Margarete VandeVere
Margarete H. VandeVere, 96, of Collegedale died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in a local health care center.
A resident of Berrien Springs, Mich., for 33 years, she had lived in Collegedale since 1980. A member of the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church, she enjoyed participating in church activities. Mrs. VandeVere taught music for more than 60 years and was a member of Adventist Retired Workers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.K. VandeVere.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Evelyn VandeVere, Collegedale; grandchildren, Rhonda Burnham, Apopka, Fla., Robert VandeVere, Lexington, Ky., Jodi Ruf, Collegedale, and David VandeVere, Maple Grove, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in the chapel with Elder Jim Herman and Elder Rolland Ruf officiating.
Burial will be in Collegedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
H.B. Corriher
JASPER -- Hubert Benjamin Corriher, 85, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001.
He was a resident of the Chattanooga area for over 40 years, was retired from Southern Railway and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kimball, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Estele Corriher; and two sons, Herbert Benjamin Corriher Jr. and Willard Wayne Corriher.
Survivors include his wife, Syble Corriher; daughters Betty Crane, Bryant, Ala.; four sons, James Corriher, Chattanooga, Robert Corriher, Wildwood, Ga., Richard Corriher, Flintstone, Ga., and Ralph Corriher, Bryant, Ala.; two sisters, Margaret Shanks and Mary Templeton, both of Salisbury, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Trenton, Ga., with minister Buddy Roberts officiating.

CLEVELAND -- Glen Greene, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with interment

Davis McCurry
POWELLS CROSSROADS -- Davis McCurry, 81, died Monday evening, Oct. 8, 2001.
Survivors include wife, Martha Kilgore McCurry of Whitwell; three stepdaughters, Della Hatfield and Harriot Namanny of Whitwell and Leona Simpson of Atlanta; brother, Raymond McCurry of Whitwell; four sisters, Nina Hughes and Rachael Hartline of Chattanooga, Sue King of Virginia and Marie Miley of West Virginia.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today, Oct. 11, in the chapel of Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Savage officiating.
Interment will be in Layne's Chapel Cemetery.
Jackie Privett
TRACY CITY -- Jackie Lee Privett, 33, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was employed as an operator at Variform in Jasper and was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Privett; and grandfathers, Walt Connor and Harley Privett.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Privett; daughter, Tarryn Paige; son, Sonny Lee; parents, Harley "Sonny" and June Privett, all of Tracy City; sister, Tammy Roberts, South Pittsburg; paternal grandmother, Estelle Kizziah, Tracy City; maternal grandmother, Lola Mae Conner, Red Bank; niece, Mandy Roberts; and nephew, Shawn Roberts.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Clayton Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Burns Cemetery.
