Carol Ann Thompson Cate, age 57, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center following a battle with cancer. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Memphis with a B.S. in Nursing and was employed as an administrative assistant in the graduate admissions department for the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Corinne Hayter Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Ed Cate of Maryville; sons, Matthew Cate and wife, Mary of Knoxville, Johnathan Cate of Raleigh, North Carolina; brothers, William “Bill” Thompson and wife, Suzanne of Powell, Ronald Thompson and wife, Janet of Lebanon, New Hampshire; three nieces; one nephew; several cousins. Graveside Funeral services were held Sunday, April 4, at Seahorns Chapel cemetery with Rev. Robert Countiss conducting the service. R. C. Dalson
R. C. Dalson, age 101, of Dandridge, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004, at Life Care Center in Jefferson City. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Morristown. He is survived by his wife, Edith Dalson; sons, Tom and Jay Dalson; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Memorial services were held Saturday, April 3, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Larry Findley conducting the service. Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Rochelle McRae Hardesty, age 89, of Jefferson City, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Life Care Center of Jefferson City. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelburn Hardesty. She is survived by her son, Larry Hardesty of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law, Marshelle and W.C. Gilbert, Jr. of Jefferson City; grandsons, Nick and Taylor Hardesty of Louisville, Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Jean McRae of Dekalb, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews. Alfred Joseph (Joe, JoJo) Morgan, age 43, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He had battled cancer for 6 months. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. He was prececed in death by his mother, Margaret Ruth Kelly; father, Alfred Lee Morgan; mother-in-law, Clara Geneva Perry. Iva Mae Shackelford, age 88, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Sevier County Health Care Center. she was a member of 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Edd Shakelford and daughter, Norma Jean Ogle. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wilburn E. and Norma L. Shakelford; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Paul Parton; son-in-law, Clell Ogle; grandchildren, David and Heidi Shackelford, Crystle Anne and Tara Jo Parton, Glenda Harrison and Janice Dellinger, and Rachel Lee Parton; two great-grandchildren; brother, J. Dustin Wade Armstrong Wampler, age 20, of Mascot, passed away suddenly Saturday, April 3, 2004 as the result of an automobile accident. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and a 2001 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Pauline and Kenneth Wampler; great-grandparents, Leona and Rudolph Oaks; uncle, Ronnie Wampler; cousin, Tyler Stallings. He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Armstrong; father, Richard Wampler; sister, Beverly Armstrong; nephew, Randall Cardwell; grandparents, Bobby and Shelby Woolard; aunt and husband, Tina and Charlie Stallings; uncles and wives, Robert and Connie Wollard, John and Shannon Wollard; cousins, Justin, Josh, Zach, Samantha and Zeke Wollard, Jake and Jessica Stallings and Carrie Gibson; a host of great aunts, great uncles and cousins; special friend, Samantha. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Hattie Anderson; daughter, Patricia Gray; grandson, Steven Gray; several brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carol Chavanne and sister, Joan. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Jarmusz of Jefferson City; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and David Weeks of Tonawanda, New Jersey, Joanne Jarmusz and Jeanne Romine of New Market, and Donna and Jeff Maxwell of Grove City, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Jarmusz of Columbus, Ohio, Anthony and Jeannie Jarmusz of Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Mary Girard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and the late Robert Tighe, Doris and Carl Swan, Cathy and Vincent Cenname, Barbara and Peter Solovey; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Chavanne. Paul Wemlinger, age 56, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Blontville, Tennessee. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Centhia Gass Wemlinger of Morristown; daughter, Leigh Ann Jensen; son, Mike Wemlinger; daughter, Kristen Wemlinger; step-daughter, Paula Blakeley; step-daughter, Cindy Kimbrough; two grandsons. John Loyd Case, age 68, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at his home. He was retired from Shelby Williams and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Case. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Case; children, John L. Case, Jr., Elizabeth Wineger, Jason C. Case, Travis L. Case and Steve Williams; mother, Cecil (Polly) Cantwell; brothers, Donald, Jack and Floyd Case; sisters, Ann Deans, Glenda Cornette and Phyllis Clevenger; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. William Benjamin (Bill) Colyer
William Benjamin (Bill) Colyer, age 84, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Windwood Health Care Center in Clinton. He was a member and Deacon emeritus of Strawberry Plains Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Airborne Engineers. He is survived by his daughter, Rose Huffaker and husband, James, of Farragut; granddaughters, Cheryl Davis and husband, Dale; Jamie Simerly and husband, Scott, all of Lenoir City; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Sarah Davis, Amber and Tallehua Simerly; sisters, Florence Mitchell of Powell and Patty Moats of Kingston; brother, Bob Taliaferro of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; four stepdaughters; several step-grandchildren. Rev. Dean Bandy, Rev. Mike Boatfield and Rev. Rick Hicks officiated the funeral services. Interment

John Henry Fultz
John Henry Fultz, age 68, or Morristown, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville. He was born on April 27, 1936, and was the son of the late Clyde and Ida Fultz, natives of Claiborne County. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church and retired from American Enka with 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany for two years. He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Junior Fultz of Tazewell, Della Smith of Indiana, and Mary Ruth Smith of Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Evelyn Brooks Fultz; sons and daughters-in-law, John K. “Sonny” and Tammy Fultz of Talbott, Jimmy L. and Cindy Fultz of Jefferson City; step-daughter and husband, Karen Gail and Ron Guthrie of Knoxville; grandchildren, Adam and Adrianna Fultz of Jefferson City; step-grandchildren, Melany and David Bunch of New Tazewell, Dustin and Cyndi Hansard of Sharps Chapel, Beth Hansard and Robbie Miller, both of Knoxville; step-great-grandchild, Wes David Bunch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cohleen and Carl Dentler, Jane and Martin Estep and Marjorie and Bill Short, all of Tazewell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Lula Fultz, and Onnie and Ruby Fultz of Tazewell; many special nieces and nephews and a host of special neighbors and friends; also special friends, Luke and Wilma Inman.
