Funeral services for Mrs. Veatrice Kirby Alred, age 87, of Kingston, TN, who passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN, will be conducted graveside Monday, December 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverview Memorial Gardens with Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Alred was a native of Putman Co., TN, daughter of the late P.A. & Mary Lou I. Neal Kirby and a retired office clerk. She is survived by 4 sisters: Ruth Barnes of Cookeville, TN, Martha Stewart of Huntland, TN, Sue K. Nunley of Kingston, TN, Elizabeth Redmon of Vicksburg, MS and 1 brother: Edwin Kirby of Columbia, TN. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie E. Harris, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Friday, December 12, 2008, at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted graveside Monday, December 15, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Prospect Cemetery with Bill Wood officiating and Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Harris was a native of Georgia, daughter of the late Lawton & Ola Dupree. She was a hospital housekeeper in Iowa. Along with her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband: James Richard Harris on June 6, 2005. Survivors include 2 daughters: Betty Jean Perry of Fayetteville, TN and Barbara Ann Campbell of Lakeland, FL and 6 grandchildren. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Ardmore, TN. Mrs. Payne was a native of Limestone County, AL the daughter of the late J.B. & Mary Brown Holder. She was a housewife and was of the Church of Christ faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother: Calvin Holder. Mrs. Wavie Greene, age 91, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the Lincoln Skill Care. Mrs. Greene was a native of Raleigh County, WV the daughter of the late Hillie & Maggie Pettry Jarrell. She was a School Teacher for 33 years and a member of the Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Boston Van Buren Greene and sisters: Mary Pettry & Hester Pauley; brothers: Quince, Archie, Azel, & Joe Jarrell. She is survived by 3 daughters: Wilma Sue Teets of Petersburg, TN, Pebble Faye Brownley of Baldwin, Maryland, & Deanna Lennen of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sisters: Eileen Vogler of Essex, Maryland, & Charlotte Burns of Milton, Delaware, 5 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services Mr. William McArthur Howard, Sr., age 64, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the Crestwood Medical Center will be conducted on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Gallant - Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Latham officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Mr. Howard was a native of Giles County, TN, he was the son of the late John Wesley Howard and Mattie Mae Pullen Black who survives. He was a Grave Digger who worked for Gallant Funeral for several years and then finishing his career with Higgins Funeral Home before retiring. He accepted Christ and was baptized on February 26, 1989 and became a member of Mary's Chapel A.M.E. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter: Sarah Louise Howard and 4 brothers: Jack Jones, Jr., Charlie Wesley Howard, Edward Vaughn Black, & Joe Edward Black. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife: Effie Howard of Fayetteville, TN; 6 daughters: Clara Akinrinmade of Decatur, GA, Shirley Bass of Nashville, TN, Cecilia ( Justin ) Taylor, & Marilyn Howard both of Las Vegas, NV, Rita Faye ( Michael ) March, & Patricia ( Patrick ) Knott ; a son: William McArthur ( Alisha ) Howard, Jr; all of Fayetteville, TN, 17 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren; 4 sisters: Juanita Parks, Rebecca ( Marvin ) Wicks, Barbara Hockett, Joyce ( Andre ) Gills; a brother: Harold Wayne Black all of Nashville, TN; 2 Aunts: Everbell Pullen & Fannie ( Alvin) Buchanan and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was a native of Kalamazoo, MI, son of Carol Hess and the late Terry Lee Echtinaw. Along with his mother, Mr. Echtinaw is survived by 1 son: Dustin Ray Echtinaw of Manchester, TN and his mother: Carol Hess of Buckannon, WV; 1 brother: Gregory Adam Echtinaw of Fayetteville, TN. Mr. Bradford was a native of Limestone County, AL; son of the late Thomas Newton & Mary Etta Brown Bradford. He was retired from Kraft Foods and worked in the Funeral Industry for several years, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Prospect Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by his wife: Frances, a grandson: Christopher Smith and a son-in-law: Hugh ( Bubby ) Smith. He is survived by 2 daughters: Elaine Smith of Boaz, AL & Janet Amos of Georgia. 2 grandchildren: Mike Corbin & Sherry Corbin; 6 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Elaine, Rachel, Tommy, Luke, & Aaron Corbin.
