Verda Carter died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 88.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at Lane Funeral Home, South Crest Chapel.
Burial will be in Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
William Crockett
William Joseph 'Joe' Crockett died Jan. 23, 1999, at his home. He was 44.
He was a 1972 graduate of East Ridge High School and was a former East Ridge firefighter.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his father, William Crockett, and his step-mother, Kathryn Crockett, Harrison; his mother, Kathryn Reardon, and his step-father, James Reardon, Ooltewah; three brothers, James Michael Crockett, Chattanooga, Guy 'Bink' Crockett, Clearwater, Fla., and Douglas 'Doug' Reardon, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; four sisters, Cheryl Reardon, Johnson City, Tenn., Jeannie Reardon and Lynn Dipillo, Chattanooga, and Debra Ann Aleiu, Nashville.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Mike McGinnis officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home Highway 58 Chapel.
Claudia Emonds
Claudia B. Emonds of Sale Creek, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 89.
She was a member of Soddy United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edmonds, and one daughter, Helen Crawley.
Survivors include four daughters, Patsy McEwin, Sale Creek, Wanda Poole, Soddy, Deanie Johnson, Fredrick, Md., and Ruby McDonald, Dayton, Tenn.; one sister, Georgia Hughes, Chattanooga; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Reed Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Gray cemetery in Bakewell, Tenn.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Weltha Hancock
Weltha Hancock of Soddy-Daisy died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at her home. She was 69.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens Masonic Garden.
John Hart
John A. Hart of Soddy-Daisy died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 72.
A funeral mass will be held at a later date.

Anna Howard
Anna Deloney Howard died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 84.
Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. CST at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia, Ala.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia.

Jean Hutcheson
Jean Crowe Hutcheson of Greenwich, Conn., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at her home. She was 91.
Her brother-in-law, John L. Hutcheson Jr., owned Happy Valley Farms in Rossville. Her father-in-law, John L. Hutcheson Sr., founded Peerless Woolen Mills in Rossville.
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Greenwich.
Burial will be in Putnam cemetery.

Marion Noel Loftis of Soddy-Daisy died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in a local health care facility. He was 83.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Horne; one sister, Hazel Dent; and two brothers, Clifford Loftis and Carl Loftis.
He was a member of Mountain View Baptist and was retired from Combustion.
Survivors include his wife, Retia Loftis, Soddy-Daisy; two daughters, Geneva Gwinner, Hixson, and Sharon Hancock, Soddy-Daisy; one sister, Edith Wilson, Red Bank; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul D. Forgey officiating.
Burial will be at Soddy Presbyterian cemetery.

Bonnie Mathis
Bonnie Fowler Mathis, formerly of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Pacoima, Calif. She was 55.
She was a graduate of Howard High School.
Services will be Tuesday in California.

Emmely Magdalena Matt of Signal Mountain and a native of Duisberg-Hamborn, Germany, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 79.
She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent George Matt.
Survivors include one son, Bernard F. Matt, Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Marilyn Matt, Indianapolis; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Alexian Village Chapel on Signal Mountain with Father Maro Cannon officiating.

Sherry Millard
Sherry Millard of Harrison, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 55.
She was a native of Manchester, Tenn., and had formerly lived in Birmingham, Ala., for 26 years before moving to Harrison.
She was a charter member of Christ Church United Methodist Church in Birmingham and was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy Hall and Ozell West Shelton.
Survivors include her husband, William A. Millard; one son, Brian Millard; one daughter, Marcie Millard, Chattanooga; one brother, Ronny Hall Shelton, Nashville; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be announced by Chattanooga Funeral Home.
