James Dean 'Big Daddy' Shropshire Sr. died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 51.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Eastside Church of God with elder Thomas L. Mott Jr., pastor Anne Shropshire and others officiating.
Burial will be in Shepherd Community cemetery.
Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Billy Sneed
Billy Joe Sneed of Soddy-Daisy died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 63.
He was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 706 F&AM;, Alhambra Shrine, and Operators Local 917.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Sneed, one daughter, Sandra Orr; sister, Inez Ricketts, and a brother, William Robert 'Bug' Sneed.
Survivors include his wife, Royce Sneed; three sons, Billy, Robert, and Bobby Sneed, all of Soddy-Daisy; two sisters, Bernice Weathersby, and Louise Scates, Soddy-Daisy; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Clankston Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Minnie Thomas
Minnie Wolfe Thomas died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at her home. She was 78.
Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens mausoleum.

Verlan Torbett
Verlan 'Ike' Torbett Jr., assistant principal at Rossville (Ga.) Middle School and a longtime educator, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 48.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Lakeview First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Frick officiating.
Burial will be in Antioch cemetery, Kensington, Ga.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Claude Uren
Claude Alex Uren died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at his home in Hixson. He was 70.
He retired from DuPont after 35 years, and was a member of Soddy Masonic Lodge 418 F&AM;, Alhambra Shrine, Red Fez Club, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, Knights of Phythias Park Lodge 75, VFW, and Soddy American Legion 107.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and attended the Church of God.
Survivors include one daughter, Claudia C'Na Raines, Hixson; stepmother, Naomi Uren, Soddy-Daisy; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. R.A. Sharp and the Rev. Calvin Nunley officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby Williams
Ruby Brewer Williams of Red Bank, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 90.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelton Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Warren Young
Warren G. Young died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 77.
He was retired from the Mueller Co., and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Young, Chattanooga; one son, Warren Young Jr.; adopted daughter, Margaret Taylor, Cleveland, Ohio, adopted son, Roosevelt H. Taylor; two sisters, Rhonda Bell Young and Margaret Brown; and one brother, Louis P. Young.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. David Rutledge officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
Neotia Bigham
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Neotia Bigham, a longtime resident of Bradley County, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 82.
She attended the Church of God and was the widow of James Asbury Bigham.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Couch; three sons, Robert W., Earl, and James A. Birham Jr., all of Cleveland; one sister, Helen Thompson, Cleveland; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Fort Hill cemetery with the Rev. Marshall Roberson officiating.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home.

RICEVILLE, Tenn. - Lemuel E. Brazzell died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in an area health care facility. He was 76.

Earl Howe
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Earl Howe died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 87.
He was retired from Bowater, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, attended Evening Light Gospel Tabernacle and was active in the Senior Citizens Center in Bradley County.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Howe, his second wife, Bonnie Hysinger Howe and his third wife, Louise Howe.
Survivors include one son, Robert Howe; one stepson, Bill Wilson, both of Cleveland; four grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Beaty officiating.
Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
