Samuel Marsh
Samuel Lee Marsh Sr. died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 59.
He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church, the husband of the late Mary A. Marsh, the son of the late Marie Marsh and the brother of the late Jimmie D. Marsh.
Survivors include four sons, Samuel L. Jr., Eric L. and Kevin L. Marsh, and Anthony T. Geter; one daughter, Celina Brown; two sisters, Palestine Finch, and Teresa Marsh, all of Chattanooga; and three grandchildren.
Services were today at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with pastor Kevin Adams Sr. officiating.
Burial was in Ruth Cofer cemetery.
Betty Padgett
Betty Sue Wimpy Padgett of Chattanooga died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at her home. She was 65.
Services were to be today at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Tunnel Hill, with Sam Payne officiating.
Burial will be at Rock Spring cemetery.
Max Pierce Sr.
Max T. Pierce Sr. died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at his home. He was 69.
Services were to be held today at 1 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.
Burial was to be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
William Porter
William Lee Porter of Chattanooga died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 62.
Arrangements will be announced by Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.
Edith Potter
Edith Holt Potter died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 79.
Services were to be today at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, with the Rev. Clifford Owenby officiating.
Burial was to be in Greenwood cemetery.
Lora Styles
Lora Mae Styles of Rossville died in Bellflower, Calif., Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998. She was 89.
Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Rossville.
Rosa Suggs
Mrs. Rosa Lee Suggs died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at a local nursing home. She was 68.
She was a graduate of Howard High School and a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. Suggs, Chattanooga; two grandsons; and several aunts and cousins.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with evangelist Shauna Wooten officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will be at the funeral home after noon today until the hour of service on Tuesday.
Florrie Swafford
Florrie Swafford died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at a local health care facility. She was 87.
She was a member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church.
Arrangements will be announced by Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.
Frank Thompson
Frank Thompson died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at a local hospital. He was 63.
Services were to be held today at 1 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, with the Rev. Tom McGuirt officiating.
Burial was to be in Lakewood Memory Gardens West.

Mary Wrinkle
Mary Starkey Wrinkle of Charlotte, N.C., died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, in a hospital there. She was 98.
She was a native of Chattanooga, a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and the widow of Vance E. Wrinkle.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Cook, Charlotte; a son, Hager Wrinkle, Cleveland, Tenn.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 7 p.m. at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service in Charlotte.
Burial will be private.

Alfred Azar
Alfred George Azar of Harrison died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 74.
Mr. Azar was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Greek Orthodox.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at Harrison United Methodist Church with pastor Darryl Ross officiating.
Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Doris Brown
Doris E. Brown died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at her home. She was 77.
She was a former member of the Good Hope Baptist Church in Good Hope, Ga., and also of Second Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She was a charter member of the Greater Second Baptist Church and was also a member of Prospect Baptist Church. She attended the Adult Women's Sunday School Class No.2 and was active in Mission's and Mother Board at Prospect Baptist.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry C. Brown; one son, Stan Brown Sr., Chattanooga; three daughters, Wanda Morant, Smyrna, Ga., Janice Browne , Chattanooga, and Doris Bush, LaVergne, Tenn.; three sisters, Katie Ruth Martin, Monroe, Ga., Sarah Mundy and Louise Robinson, Atlanta; one uncle, Troy Martin, Philadelphia; five grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, and six great-grandsons.
Services will be held Monday at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with the Rev. J.P. Trimble officiating.
Burial will be at Chattanooga National cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roy L. Eddings died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 92.

Gladys Elliott
Gladys Keener Elliott died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 82.
She attended the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her one daughter, Marie Bess McClairy,; and two half-brothers, Loy Guy and Willard "Bill' Keener.
Survivors include a son, Jimmie Elliot, Chattanooga; two half-brothers, H.C. Guy and Coy Guy, Pikeville, Tenn.; three half-sisters, Susie Reed, Dessie Bickford and Ersie Davis, Pikeville; three granddaughters, two grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Putnam-Reed Funeral Home in Pikeville with the Rev. Danny Cox officiating.
Burial will be at Humble cemetery.
Zemelee Frazier
Zemelee Tate Frazier of East Ridge died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999. She was 85.
She was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area and was a member of the Duncan Park Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delman James Frazier; one sister, Inez Hartman; and one brother, Clifford Tate.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Whitecotton, Rossville, and Betty Fulghum , Ringgold; three sons, Carl Frazier and Robert Frazier, East Ridge, and Eugene Frazier, Hixson; one sister, Aliene Hammontree, California; one brother, J.B. Tate, Orlando, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe with the Rev. Bill Gustafson officiating.
Burial will be at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry Fullilove
Henry M. Fullilove died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at an area hospital. He was 61.

Edgar Grundset
Edgar O. Grundset, a biology professor retired from Southern Adventist University, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Grundset was a resident of Collegedale and joined the faculty of Southern Adventist University (then Southern Missionary College) in 1957. After his formal retirement in 1987, he continued to teach for five more years. In 1992 the university awarded him its Distinguished Service Medallion.
He was well-known among students for his enthusiastic participation in campus events and for a monthly column, "Along the Promenade,' he wrote for Southern Accent, the student newspaper, as recently as last year. An ongoing natural history lecture series and the E.O. Grundset Lounge in the student center are named in his honor.
Mr. Grundset was a member of Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sabbath School superintendent for many years. He was a baccalaureate graduate of Andrews University and received his master's degree from Walla Walla College.
Survivors include his wife, Valera DeHaven Grundset; two brothers, Dr. Harold Grundset, Georgetown, Tenn., and Arvid Grundset, Virginia; and two sisters, Esther Kerr, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Florence Loomis, California.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church, with pastors Ken Rogers and Dwight Herod officiating.
Burial will be in Collegedale Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
