ATHENS, Tenn. - Blanche Colloms Sharp died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Sharp was a retired licensed practical nurse from Athens Regional Medical Center, where she had worked for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the Y-Me Club and Athens Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Sharp; two sisters, Jewel C. Walker, Calhoun, and Phyllis C. Legg, Athens; a brother, Frank Colloms, LaFayette, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home with minister Manly Luscombe officiating.
Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home.
Lawrence Stewart
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Lawrence Stewart died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 79.
He was a member of East Cleveland Baptist Church and was retired from Brown Stove Works after 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Holmes Stewart.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews in the Cleveland area.
Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Fowler officiating.
Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery.
M.L. Stone
ETOWAH, Tenn. - M.L. Stone died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in an area hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Stone was a well-known restaurateur for many years and a member of North Etowah Baptist Church.
He served as president of the Etowah Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and the Rotary Club. He was a former Etowah city commissioner.
He was a 50-year member of Etowah Masonic Lodge 653, a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Swartout Stone; daughter, Margaret Ann Cheek, Etowah; two sisters, Anna Mae Studdard, Delano, Tenn., and Ruth Loffis, Clewiston, Fla.; five brothers, Hubert, Kenneth and Roy Stone, all of Etowah, Parnick Stone, Chattanooga, and Ray Stone, Delano, Tenn.
Masonic services will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at North Etowah Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Lester officiating.
Burial will be Sunday in Green Hill cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the McMinn County Humane Society.

Nellie Sullivan
DAYTON, Tenn. - Nellie Margaret Sullivan died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in an area hospital. She was 103.
She was a Methodist and had been Sunday school teacher at New Harmony Baptist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Henry Sullivan, and two sons, John and Jesse Sullivan.
Survivors include two sons, James T. Sullivan, the New Harmony community of Bledsoe County, and Fred Sullivan, Palm Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Mary Revis and Margaret Ritchey, of the New Harmony community, and Martha Musgrave, Soddy-Daisy; 16 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Wilkey officiating.
Burial will be in Rigsby cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home.
James Tanner
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - James Melbourn Tanner died Thursday, March 25, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 63.
Mr. Tanner was a native of South Pittsburg and a member of Ironworkers Local 704, Bridgeport Masonic Lodge 543 F&AM;, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Baptist.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Merchant Marine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Melbourn Tanner, and a brother, Kenneth Tanner.
Survivors include his wife, Betty W. Tanner; his mother, Odell Powell McLain, South Pittsburg; a daughter, Vickie Mashburn; son, Terry Tanner, Bridgeport; stepdaughter, Mona Kinser, Chattanooga; stepson, Ezra Evans Jr., Kimball, Tenn.; a brother, Douglas McLain, Jasper, Tenn.; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. CST at Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, with the Rev. Jim Bernard officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland View cemetery with Bridgeport Masonic Lodge 543 conducting graveside rites.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

FLAT ROCK, Ala. - Rebecca Joyce Howard died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at her home. She was 54.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dave Roach; two brothers, Ed and William Roach; and a sister, Innie Phillips.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Roach, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; her husband, John D. Howard, Flat Rock; a son, James D. Howard, Flat Rock; daughter, Tammy Steele, Stevenson, Ala.; five sisters, Lillie Samples, Rosalie, Ala., Orthie Thurmond, Section, Ala., Beatrice Chisnall, Stevenson, Betty Ann Koger, Scottsboro, Ala., and Mildred Williams, Flat Rock; and three grandchildren.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. CST at Kerby Funeral Home with the Rev. O.B. Whitaker officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park at Bryant, Ala.
Henry Scrudder
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Henry Evans Scrudder Sr. died Wednesday, March 24, 1999. He was 70.
Mr. Scrudder, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, attended Chattanooga High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church.
He moved to Birmingham in 1979, where he worked for Engineering Resource Systems and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Billie B. Scrudder; son, Henry E. Scrudder Jr., Atlanta; a daughter, Suzanne S. DeSilvey, Castle Rock, Colo.; a sister, Ann S. Biros, Minneapolis; and several grandchildren.
Services were to be today at 9:30 a.m. at Rideout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Ala.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson at 2:30 p.m. EST.

Irene W. Alper died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in a local hospital.
She was a member of B'nai Zion Synagogue, the Women's League Hadassah and the Chattanooga Jewish Federation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Alper; four sisters, Rebecca Alper, Bertha Wender, Blanche Schreiner Gordon and Dorothy Elderman; and a brother, Isa Wender.
Survivors include a brother, Abe Wender, Cleveland, and a nephew, Irwin Schreiner, Bethesda, Md.
A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at B'nai Zion cemetery with Rabbi Josef Davidson officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Fleecy Mae Daniel died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 76.

Ann Denton
Ann Elizabeth Denton died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in a local nursing home.
She was a longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church and was retired from American National Bank.
She was a 1931 graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Chattanooga, where she was active in the music department.
She is survived by several cousins.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills cemetery with the Rev. David Ezekiel officiating.
There will be no visitation at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Foster
Elizabeth Foster died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at her home. She was 85.
She was educated in the Chattanooga public schools and joined the New Home Baptist Church at an early age. She later united with Mount Paran Baptist Church, where she had been a member for 57 years. She served as deaconess, Sunday school teacher, president of the Missionary Society, on the Mother's Board, and in the senior choir and was the musician for the children's choir.
She was a member of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Baptist Association, where she served with the choir and Women's Auxiliary. She served as secretary for the Charmettes Charitable Club, Heroines of Jericho LaPrade Court 4, secretary lieutenant of Bessie Peak Guild 11, president of the Matrons and Past Matrons of Chattanooga and was a member of Excelsias Grand Chapter of Tennessee.
Survivors include a sister, Christine Morris; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at noon at Taylor Funeral Home with pastor Randy Petersen officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary Goins
Mary Evelyn Goins died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in a local health care facility. She was 62.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a member of Tremont Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Goins; three daughters, Sue Hillerich, Jacksonville, Fla., Gail Goins, Atlanta, and Jamie Dover, Chattanooga; a son, Kenneth Hutton, Chattanooga; her mother, Elizabeth Christian, Soddy-Daisy; three sisters, Virginia Cannon, Tifton, Ga., Marie Dreyer, Soddy-Daisy, and Gladys Privett, Hixson; two brothers, Garmon Christian, Soddy-Daisy, and James Christian, Hixson; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at noon at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with chaplain Les Fauntleroy officiating.
Burial will be in Hooker cemetery.
The family will receive friends today after 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
