Helen Claud
Helen Bovell Claud, a native of Limestone, Tenn., and a resident of Signal Mountain, died Sunday, March 14, 1999.
A member of a pioneer upper East Tennessee family, she was a Methodist and had been employed as a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Claud; her parents, Steve W. and Bonnie Henley Bovell; two sisters, Alice Money and Lillian Shackleford; two brothers, Robert Bovell and Steve W. Bovell.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Seay officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Odell Clay
The Rev. Odell Henry Clay Jr. died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in a Murfreesboro, Tenn., hospital. He was 77.
He was a native of Nashville, but had lived in Chattanooga for the past six years.
He pastored churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio and West Virginia. He was pastor emeritus at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Clay; three sons, the Rev. David Clay, Chattanooga, Tommy L. Clay and Ronald D. Clay, both of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, the Rev. C.E. Clay, Nashville, and Paul W. Clay, Memphis; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be today at 12:30 p.m. at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church with the Rev. David Clay and the Rev. Ray Walker officiating.
The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Road Baptist Church Bus Fund.
Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.

Emily George Colangelo died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in a local nursing home. She was 88.

Tommie Earline Cox of Red Bank died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 88.

Thurman Crosslin of Rossville died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 85.

James T. 'J.T.' Dodd of Fort Oglethorpe died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 73.

Lawrence Dugan
Lawrence M. Dugan of Rossville died Sunday, March 14, 1999. He was 87.
The lifelong north Georgia resident was a U.S. Army veteran of foreign wars, having served in World War II, and was a member of Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine M. Dugan; one sister, Grace Doyle, Ooltewah.
Services will be today at 2:30 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Green and the Rev. Benny Matherly officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation will be today prior to the service at the funeral home.

James Frazier
James Eugene Frazier died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in a local hospital. He was 68.
He had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life and was a member of Bayside Baptist Church.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, was retired from DuPont, a past master of Red Bank Masonic Lodge 717 F&AM;, past president of the Chattanooga Scottish Rite Society, the Knight Commander of Court of Honor, the Alhambra Shrine and a plural member of Chattanooga Lodge 199.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reno Frazier; one son, James Michael Frazier; one daughter, Lisa Frazier Harper, all of Chattanooga; three brothers, Ralph, Pat and G.C. Frazier, all of Chattanooga; seven sisters, Clara Geddie and Ruth Page, both of Trenton, Ga., Edith Floyd, Edna Roberts, Willie Brooks and Anna Gene Brooks, all of Chattanooga, and Monnie Smith, Farber, Mo.; five grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Stitts and the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service was held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Milford Bowman officiating.

Mildred L. Vandergriff Hatcher of Rossville, Ga., died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in a local hospital. She was 72.
A longtime resident of the Rossville area, she was a member of Battlefield Parkway Nazarene Church and the widow of Genie Hatcher.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Hatcher, Rossville; one son, Bill G. Hatcher, Indianapolis; two sisters, Pauline Templeton and Nellie Mullinix, both of Rossville; one brother, the Rev. Charles Vandergriff, East Lake; and five grandchildren.

Richard Johnson
Richard Oliver Johnson, a longtime resident of Signal Mountain, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in a hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He was 77.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II, was retired from the roofing construction business and a member of the Signal Mountain Church of God.
Survivors include his brother, Otis C. Johnson, Signal Mountain; two sons, Richard Johnson Jr. and David Johnson, both of New York; one sister, Ruth Morrison, Bradenton, Fla.; and several grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Frank Knox King of Hixson died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at a local health care facility. He was 72.

Jesse Lawman of Tiftonia, Tenn., died Sunday, March 14, 1999. He was 43.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Addie Lee Lawman, a brother, Jimmy Lawman, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Fountain and Mr. and Mrs. Pate Lawman.
Survivors include two brothers, John Lawman, Bryant, Ala., and Joey Lawman, Chattanooga; three sisters, Janet Bedwell and Judy Harris, both of Chattanooga, and Brenda Wallenhorse, Murfreesboro, Tenn.
