George Hedley
George A. Hedley of Signal Mountain, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at his home. He was 87.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Alexian Village with the Rev. David Hackett officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Project Read, c/o United Way, 420 Frazier Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37405.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements by the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.

Viola Henegar
SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. - Viola Brown Henegar died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 85.

She was of the Church of God faith and was the widow of William Henegar and the mother of the late Fred and Jackie Henegar.

Survivors include one son, William Henegar, South Pittsburg; three daughters, Martha Gibson, South Pittsburg, Mary Popen, Bryant, Ala., Louise Peslatte, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 29 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Harley Morrison and the Rev. Keith Morrison officiating.

Burial will follow in the Orme Mountain cemetery.

Evelyn Dodd
ATHENS, Tenn. - Evelyn Curtis Dodd died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, in a nursing home there. She was 81.

She was a retired alterations aide at Proffitts, a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and the mother of the late Gene and Darrell Dodd.

Survivors include her husband, O.W. Dodd; two brothers, Lee Curtis, Athens, and Gene Curtis, Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Myrtie Williams, Athens; six grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Ogle Wattenbarger officiating.

Burial will be in South Liberty cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack Dotson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Jack Lane Dotson died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at his home. He was 75.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Phillipi Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Hooker officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Phillipi Baptist Church building fund or a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Grissom Funeral Home, Cleveland.

Drucilla Doyle
Drucilla Herring Doyle died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at her home.

Services were to be today at 1 p.m. at Alleyne Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Cedric Henson officiating.

Burial was to be in Chattanooga National cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Bert Duckett, 87
Bert L. Duckett, a well-known funeral director, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. He was 87.

Mr. Duckett was a native of Chickamauga, Ga., where he began a career with J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home that spanned 65 years and included the 1929 opening of the business on McCallie Avenue, which he served as secretary, treasurer and general manager.

He also had been a member of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association for more than 50 years.

Mr. Duckett was a World War II veteran, a member of the Chattanooga Half Century Club, and a Methodist.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills cemetery with the Rev. Ted Baker officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at J. Avery Bryan Funeral Home.

William Duckwall
DAYTON, Tenn. - William Albert Duckwall died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 90.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Duckwall.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Coulter Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, with the Rev. Walter J. Shannon officiating.

Burial will be in the Cave Hill cemetery in Louisville, Ky.

The family will receive friends today after 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wallie Earls
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Wallie Earls died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, in an area hospital. He was 65.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Woody Earls; one son, Lou Wallie Earls, Cleveland; three brothers, Andy, Homer and N.R. Earls Sr., all of Cleveland; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Earls cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Caywood and the Rev. Bob Bell officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Sylvia Eaton
DUNLAP, Tenn. - Sylvia Alberta Boykin Eaton of the Deerhead community near Dunlap died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, in an area hospital. She was 60.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. EST at Spring Creek Assembly of God Church cemetery in Bainbridge, Ga.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Ewton Funeral Home

Mattie Edwards
Mattie L. Edwards died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, in a local hospital.

She was a graduate of Howard High School and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served on the usher board.

Survivors include a son, Nathaniel Edwards, Chattanooga; two sisters, Margaret Derrick, Fort Madison, Iowa, Rebecca Brooks, Akron, Ohio; one brother, William Pitts Jr., Montgomery;, Ala,; two grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Edmund Lockhart officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery.

The body will be at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home after noon today.

William Elder
William Earl Elder of Memphis, formerly of Soddy-Daisy, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, in a hospital there. He was 68.

He was a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High, retired form Kimberly-Clark and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was the son of the late Earl and Martha Elder.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Elder; two daughters, Deborah and Katrina Elder; son, Harold Elder, all of Memphis; two sisters, Betty 'June' and Lorraine Miller, both of Soddy-Daisy; and one grandson.

Arrangements will be announced by Family Funeral Care of Memphis.

Announced locally by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home.

Juanell Emerson
Juanell D. Emerson, 55, of Cleveland died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, in a local hospital.

Survivors and arrangements will be announced by Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, Cleveland.
