Robert McCollum
Robert E. McCollum of Red Bank died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in a local nursing home. He was 86.
He was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church, Red Bank Masonic Lodge 717, retied from Corley Manufacturing Co., a former Red Bank Commissioner and a former TSSAA official.
He was the husband of the late Mary C. McCollum.
Survivors include two sons, William S. and Robert E. McCollum Jr., Chattanooga; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. William Owens officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to White Oak United Methodist Church, 2232 Lyndon Ave., Chattanooga, TN, 37415 and Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
Loyal McDaniel
Loyal K. McDaniel Sr., of Harrison died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 84.
The longtime Chattanooga area resident was retired from the Hamilton County Highway Department and was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God in Cleveland.
He was the widower of Johnnie McDaniel and the father of the late Steve McDaniel.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby McDaniel, Spring City, L.K. McDaniel Jr., Ooltewah, and David McDaniel, Chattanooga; one brother, W.A. McDaniel Chattanooga; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Sears officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Darla Hester
Darla Hester of Soddy-Daisy died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at her home. She was 60.
Mrs. Hester was retired from TVA and currently working with Great American Travel as an outside travel consultant.
She was a member of the Outdoor Adventures, Chattanooga Ski Club, Soddy-Daisy Ski Club and Central Baptist Church of Hixson.
She was the widow of Tom Hester.
Survivors include her son, David Marsh, Memphis; stepdaughter, Kim Hester, Roswell, Ga.; mother, Virgie Kincaid, Chattanooga and a sister, Judy Loy, Knoxville.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Devotion in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bailey Stone officiating.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Windell Hickmanm
DAYTON, Tenn. - Windell C. 'Chester' Hickman died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 59.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sale Creek Community Church with the Rev. Woodrow Forsythe and the Rev. David Elsea officiating.
The body will be the church one hour before the service.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Vanderwall Funeral Home, Dayton.
Lawrence Higgins
Lawrence D. 'Junior' Higgins Jr. died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 41.
He was a Baptist and a son of the late Lawrence D. Higgins.
Survivors include a son and daughter, Greg and Beth Higgins, both of Dunlap, Tenn.; his mother, Mary Higgins, Chattanooga; five sisters, Audrey Pickett, Lorene 'Doris' Laymon and Carol Laymon, all of Chattanooga, and Gail Luttrell and Ellen Mikel, both of Soddy-Daisy; a brother, Richard Higgins, Chattanooga; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy, with the Rev. Aaron Simmons officiating.
Burial will be in Poe cemetery.
The family will receive friends today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Eleanor Hixon
Eleanor 'Ruth' Hixon died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at a local nursing home. She was 83.
She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, C. Curtis Hixon Sr.
Survivors include one son, Curtis Hixon Jr., Lilburn, Ga.; two daughters, Joann Taylor, Nashville, Sharone Faye Hixon, Chattanooga; two sisters, Lucile Duckworth, Chattanooga; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. in Forest Hills cemetery with the Rev. Mark S. Womack officiating.

PIKEVILLE, Tenn. - John Richard Holt Sr. died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at his home. He was 77.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Betty Jo Hudgins died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, in a local nursing home. She was 58.
She was the widow of Elbert Hudgins and was a Baptist. She was a daughter of the late John Helton.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Atchley and Debra Pendergrass, both of Cleveland; three sons, Sam Hudgins, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Don and Wayne Hudgins, both of Cleveland; her mother, Gertrude Brewer; two sisters, Linda Gee and Carolyn Trentham; and two brothers, Ricky and Jackie Brewer, all of Cleveland; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Fike Funeral Home in Cleveland.
Burial will be in the Center Point Baptist Church cemetery.

Elsie Hudson
Elsie Cross Hudson died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, in a local hospital. She was 76.
She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, the widow of Charles A. Hudson, and the mother of the late Charles Etta McKinney.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Marvalene Cross, Ramona Hudson and Narcissus Hudson, all of Chattanooga; three sons, Walter Cross, Columbus, Ohio, and Mark and Charles Hudson, both of Chattanooga; one brother, Alex C. Cross, Chattanooga; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Harwick & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Peterson and the Rev. Walter H. Cross Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
The body will be at the funeral home after noon today.
Christine Huggins
SPRING CITY, Tenn. - Christine Moberly Huggins died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, in a Dayton, Tenn., hospital. She was 79.
She was a native of Cabul, Mo., and had also lived in Covington, Ky.
She was a member of Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna, Ky., and belonged to the Rug Crafters Guild in Spring City.
Survivors include her husband, Sim Huggins; one daughter, Kay Parda, Bryant, Ark.; one son, Jim Huggins, Frankfort, Ky.; one sister, Beulah Richardson, Irvine, Ky.; one brother, Earl Moberly, Dayton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at in the chapel of the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Ky.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by the Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City.
