Graveside services for Mrs. Ledus Francis Westmoreland, 82, of Celina, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 1999, with A. H. Smith officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery with Upton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Westmoreland, a homemaker, died Sunday, December 5, 1999, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina.
Born February 3, 1917, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Melia Hooten Gibbons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Gayl Westmoreland.
She was Church of God in faith.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Paul Westmoreland, and a son, Anthony Westmoreland, both of Celina.
Horace Sams
Funeral services for Mr. Horace Sams, 90, of Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 1999 from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Whittaker officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Sams, a retired employee of the Monterey Planing Mills, died Sunday, December 5, 1999, at the Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey.
Born July 23, 1909, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John and Cora Norrod Sams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Sams.
He was a member of the Monterey First Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Rev. James Phillips, and Ruth and John Umbarger, both of Monterey, one step-son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Shirley Tinch, Indianapolis, IN, two sisters, Edna Wilson, Monterey, and Velma Phillips, Crossville, and one brother, Charlie Phipps, Rickman.
Edward Nash Taylor Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Edward Nash Taylor Sr., 72, of Chattanooga and formerly of Livingston, were conducted Monday, November 29, 1999, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Wallace officiating. Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Speck Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Taylor, a retired employee of Tennessee Department of Transportation Highway Construction, died Friday, November 26, 1999, at his home.
Born June 26, 1927, in Putnam County, he was the son of the late Cato C. and Lola Belle Snodgrass Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Taylor; and a sister, Rebecca Hubbard.
He was a member of Ashland Terrace Christian Church and a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Smith Taylor, Chattanooga; a son, Edward Nash Taylor Jr., Ringgold, GA; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Taylor, Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Dr. William S. Taylor, Cookeville, and Dr. Henry D. Taylor, Fairfield Glade; and two grandchildren, Samantha Colleen Taylor and Addison Elizabeth Taylor.
Pallbearers were John Taylor, Danny Taylor, Cato Taylor, Andy Taylor, David Hogue, and Bob Brown.
Emma Dee (King) Melton
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Dee (King) Melton, 59, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home with Bro. Mrs. Melton died Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a restaurant employee most of her life and a member of the Flatt Creek Church of Christ.
Born September 29, 1942, in Overton County, she was the daughter the late Ambers M. and Bonnie Edith (Smith) King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleane Robbins; and four brothers, J.D. King, Willie King, Oral King, and Allard King.
Survivors include her husband, Sammy Melton, Livingston; a sister, Eurcle Pryor, Crossville; three brothers, Randall King, Indianapolis, IN, and R.D. King and Ward King, both of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Melton, Lynn Garrett, Robbie Mabrey, Murl Melton, Lloyd Hunter, Shane Melton, and Kurt Hunter.
Barbara Gail Pedigo

Mrs. Pedigo died Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at her home. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Born January 22, 1950, in Moss, she was the daughter of the Lura (Kendall) Likens of Indianapolis, IN, and the late Walter Clyde Plumlee.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and John Henson, Red Boiling Springs, and Lisa and Stacey Spivey, Moss; three brothers, Rickey Pierce, Celina, Barry Plumlee, Red Boiling Springs, and Bruce Plumlee, Moss; and four grandchildren, Justin Spivey, Ashley Spivey, Dakota Brady, and Gabriel Henson.
Jonathan Phillips

Jonathan died Tuesday, October 2, 2001, in Monterey. He was an eighth grader at Burks Middle School in Monterey.
Born July 18, 1987, in Cookeville, he was the son of Stacy Phillips and Brenda Presley Phillips Melton, both of Monterey.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his adopted parents, Elvin and Linda (Harris) Presley, Monterey; his stepfather, Tommy Melton, Monterey; a brother, Chad D. Phillips, Monterey; paternal grandparents, Edith and Elvie D. Phillips, Muddy Pond; maternal great grandmother, Media Harris, Anderson Community; paternal great grandmother, Nellie Harris, Monterey; and paternal great grandfather, Erbin Phillips, Monterey.

Clyde Winningham

Mr. Winningham died Sunday, October 7, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a retired post office custodian, a member of the Hilham Church of Christ, VFW, VFW Honor Guard, and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
Born June 21, 1916, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John Herman and Delta (Allred) Winningham.
Survivors include his wife, Edwina Winningham, Livingston; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Barbara Winningham, Hilham; a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Pat Swallows, Cookeville; two brothers, Elbert Winningham, Algood, and Clifton Winningham, Nashville; four sisters, Ester Thomason, and Lola Mae Grizzel, both of Rickman, Jewel Dean Dillon, Algood, and Lorene Morrow, Indiana; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. The Honor Guard from the James T. Davis VFW Post 5062 of Livingston performed a military service with full military honors graveside.
Brother Edward Anderson

Brother Anderson died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at his home. He was a Church of Christ Minister for 61 years. The churches that he served throughout the years were Whitson Chapel, Cookeville/Hartsville/Richmond, VA/ Newport/ Baxter/ Bristol, VA, Finley Church of Christ, Sparta/Livingston/Kirkwood, Atlanta, GA/Central, Rome, GA/ West Rome, Rome, GA/ Columbia, KY/ Free Communion, Monroe/Rock Springs, Celina/ and Holly Springs, Livingston.
Born Sept. 9, 1920, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Boone C. and Pearl (Meadows) Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Faye Anderson; a son John Mark Anderson; three brothers, Frank Anderson, Walter Anderson, and Charlie Anderson; and two sisters, Vola Whitson and Velma Judd.
Survivors include his wife, Dorcas Anderson, Livingston; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Edward and Gloria Anderson, Henderson, and Roger and Brenda Anderson, Rickman; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Lecil Esco Barnes

Burial was in the Overton County Memorial Gardens with Livingston Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at Standing Stone Health Care Center in Monterey. He was a masonry worker, farmer, member of the Antioch Church of Christ, a Veteran of WWII, served on the Pickett County Board of Commissioners, and a school bus driver for 16 years.
Born January 22, 1919, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late Esco and Eula (Taylor) Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Barnes; a daughter Brenda June Beaty; and a brother, Elmo Barnes. Survivors include his wife, Ollie (Clark) Barnes, Monroe; a daughter, Shirley Barnes, Monroe; two sisters, Mary Hurd and Mae Barnes, both of Monroe; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Josephine (Hunter) Cordle

Mrs. Cordle died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at her home. She was a housewife, a school teacher, and affiliated with the Church of Christ. Born March 29, 1912, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late John Dudley and Avo (Dowell) Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Cordle; stepmother, Dolly (Donaldson) Hunter; two daughters, Mary Beth Stephens and Bobby Ann (Stephens) Masters; three brothers, Earl Hunter, Joe Hunter, and Ira Hunter; and two sisters, Ersula (Hunter) Rhinehart and Serephine (Hunter) Arney.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances (Stephens) Sebastian, Lexington, KY, and Betty (Stephens) Lamb, Berea, KY; a sister, Lamira Pierpont, Knoxville; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Darrell Sebastian, Steve Sebastian, Michael Sebastian, Joe Thomas Lamb, Bill Hunter, and Melody (Masters) Simpson.
Magdalene (Maynord) Zachary

Mrs. Zachary died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired Allons School lunch room worker and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Born April 23, 1911, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Dawson and Pearl (Langford) Maynord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Zachary; two sons, James Zachary and Billy Zachary; and a daughter, Betty R. Young.
Survivors include seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Bernell White, Celina, Carol and Kenny Gilpatrick, Anna and Owen Hall, and Janice and Jack Kirby, all of Allons, June and Bobby Ellis, Gainesboro, Shirley Zachary, Lebanon, and Terry Young, Monroe; a sister, Ovalene Sullivan, Akron, OH; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Born July 19, 1921, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late William Shelby and Maudie Elizabeth (Rains) Winningham.
Survivors include his wife, Haley Grace Winningham, Livingston; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill and Pat Reagan, Lafayette, Mike Reagan and Steve Reagan, both of McMinnville, and Rick Reagan, Clarkrange; six sisters and a brother-in-law, Mae Winningham, Battle Creek, MI, Millie Winningham and Jean Reagan, both of Clarkrange, Betty and Earl Ledbetter, Livingston, Rebecca Thompson, Chattanooga, and Ann Beaty, Hendersonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Buel W. Sidwell

Mrs. Tidwell died Monday, August 20, 2001, at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY. She was a member of the South Green Street Church of Christ in Glasgow.
Born in Hilham, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Laura (Upton) Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Ward Tidwell.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Tidwell, Glasgow; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Wanda Tidwell, Gallatin; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Ken Johnson, McCaysville, GA; a brother, Leonard Ward, Hilham; two sisters, Olean Maxwell, Hilham, and Ozella Ward, Cookeville; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
